Replacing the trunk lock cylinder Kalina station wagon

It is known that locks for VAZ-1118 car doors have an interesting property - you can replace their cylinder without removing the mechanism from the door itself. On previous models, dismantling is more difficult: you need to press the bracket holding the cylinder with a paper clip or an awl, getting into the hole on a mechanical drive. In the Kalina model, that is, VAZ-1118, this bracket is pressed out by pressing with a ruler or a screwdriver. Which, in turn, is done on the installed lock (there is no point in removing it). Next, the replacement operation is discussed in more detail.

Removing the lock and replacing the cylinder

The design of the trunk lock on the Lada Kalina consists of two parts: the cylinder where the key is inserted and the door locking mechanism itself. All this is disconnected separately and will be written about this in more detail below.

  • If you need to replace the larva, it is quite easy to remove it. You can do this using an 8mm socket and a flathead screwdriver. Below is shown which bolts need to be unscrewed to release this part along with the body.

  • Now that the bolts are unscrewed, take a plastic screwdriver and use it to pry off the plastic retainer that secures the rod to the body of the cylinder. For clarity, below is a photograph that clearly shows what needs to be done:

  • Then, carefully take the larva so that its spring, which is located inside, does not jump out. If you need to replace a part, then replace it with a new one and assemble everything in the reverse order.
  • If it is necessary to completely remove the entire mechanism, then you will have to do a little more work. We unscrew the door locking mechanism itself with a large Phillips screwdriver, there are only two bolts:

When everything is done, you need to pull it a little towards yourself and it can be easily removed; all that remains is to disconnect the plug with the power wires from this structure:

That's all the repairs, which will take about half an hour if you have the right tools and this manual. We install all the removed parts, which can be bought at absolutely any auto store, in the reverse order. I hope that I helped someone with this photo report using the example of my Lada Kalina station wagon.

Today we will talk about such an important car system as the ignition system. Serving as a power control mechanism and responsible for starting the engine, the ignition is at the same time subject to quite serious breakdowns. We will talk about how to recognize a malfunction and how to fix it in this article.

Pulse programming

When connecting a central lock, it is not enough to perform all the steps in the correct sequence; you also need to select the required pulse duration for the locks to operate. If it is too large, the actuators will overheat; if it is insufficient, it will not be enough to open and close. In the luxury configuration, all electronics usually “fall asleep” after 15 minutes of inactivity. To awaken it, an additional impulse is needed.

Central locking is a simple device, but it can secure your car from criminals much more effectively than a police cap on the passenger seat. The centralized door lock system is the most convenient way to quickly open and close them. If this security system is supplemented with a good car alarm, this will prevent you from ending up in a situation where your car is stolen or damaged.

A few months ago, the working key (standard, with buttons) began to malfunction occasionally. The buttons didn't always work. Replacing the battery helped, at first, then it started again. At times the key was completely cut off (arming/disarming). When you open the key, it starts working again (in open form). You put it back together, it may make money, or it may not. Then I noticed that it works better if I press the battery. I put a piece of napkin inside the case, crumpled up so that it pressed the board in the area of the battery. Enough for a day... In general, this key got me. I hired him and gave him a comprehensive check “with passion.”

Initial assumptions were confirmed - a microcrack in the printed circuit board track, which comes from the positive contact of the battery. Those. you press the edge of the contact (press it against the board) - it works. You let go - it doesn't work. Restoring the track by soldering is not a solution; in the future, a new microcrack is possible, already due to soldering. Everything is solved in the old, proven, most reliable way - duplicating the track with wire.

The result is clearly visible in the photo (with the battery removed so that the entire duplicated track is visible).

However, after some time a new defect surfaced - unreliable reading of the key transponder (non-recognition of the key by the machine). Once I bought a new battery. I put it in the key. I drove up to the house, went to change clothes and go to the garden. I got into the car, started it... It wouldn’t start. And generally the starter stops turning. And if you wait until all the lights go out, it doesn’t even start. Having checked everything possible, from the fuel pump to the engine controller (I climbed around the car for a couple of hours
