According to the manufacturer’s regulations, a complete oil change in the gearbox should be done every 75 thousand kilometers, or every five years (whichever comes first - approx.), and its condition should be checked during each technical inspection, that is, when reaching the car mileage of 15, 45, 60, 90 and so on, thousand kilometers.

That is why responsible owners must carry out the procedure for changing the oil in the VAZ 2110 gearbox, taking into account the operating conditions of the vehicle.

Under normal conditions of vehicle use, in the absence of sudden changes in temperature or increased loads associated with towing heavy loads, the optimal interval for this operation is considered to be a one-time change every 100 thousand kilometers. It must be admitted that these are the most optimal markings - both for the VAZ-2110 gearbox and for the Russian climate.

    Next, we pay attention to a suitable brand. Among inexpensive ones, you can prefer transmission oils from Lukoil, Rosneft and G-Energy; among imported products, Mobil, Shell, Kixx, Castrol and other well-known companies are considered the best.

    In addition, it is important to consider the type of oil - synthetic, mineral or semi-synthetic. For the VAZ-2110, the best option in terms of price and combination of useful properties is semi-synthetic oil. But they cannot replace pure synthetic oil, which is more expensive but lasts longer.     Checking the oil level in the VAZ 2110 box is carried out using a simple plastic dipstick, on which special marks are applied indicating the optimal level of the substance in the system.

    This part is located in the upper part of the box body in the engine compartment. To check the current level, you need to remove the dipstick, wipe it with a dry cloth, put it in again and take it out again - the drops of oil on the dipstick will correspond to the current level.

    Important to know: Checking the oil level must be done on a warm box.

    Level control and required volume

    While operating the vehicle, it is necessary to regularly check the oil level in the gearbox. According to the factory instructions, control is carried out once every 15 thousand kilometers, but in practice it is advisable to carry out this operation 2-3 times more often.

    To check the level, you need to remove the dipstick located on the top of the box housing next to the thermostat housing. There are two notches on the probe rod indicating the lower and upper limit levels. In a working box, the oil level should be slightly below the maximum level. If the level is insufficient, the oil must be added. To do this, fill in liquid from the same manufacturer and with the same parameters as before. If this information is unknown, then the oil must be changed.

    When changing the lubricant, you need to know how much oil is in the VAZ 2110 box. According to factory standards, there are 3.5 liters of oil in the box. The oil volume does not depend on the number of valves on the engine, since the crankcase is the same. Therefore, to replace it, you need to buy a container with the same amount of new oil.

    Sometimes, when filling, a little more than 3.5 liters enters the crankcase, but the level does not exceed the maximum permissible value. There is no need to pour more than 3.6 liters of oil into the box, as this causes increased resistance to gear rotation and increases fuel consumption. The second side effect of oil overflow can be squeezing out the wheel drive seals. It is better to pump out excess oil through the dipstick hole using a large-volume medical syringe equipped with a long tube.

    Before starting work, make sure that the gearbox oil has warmed up to operating temperature and is hot. Because this is the only way it will merge out of the “box” faster and more efficiently.

    • Unscrew the plug all the way and drain all the transmission fluid from the car into a special container;
    • clean the plug from dirt and debris, then put it in place and tighten it;
    • the drained transmission oil must be cleaned of all mechanical impurities;
    • flush the gearbox (as recommended by the manufacturer);
    • wipe the auto fluid level indicator;

    • check the fluid level (you can determine how much has been poured in using a special dipstick);

    Sequence of work

    The instructions instruct you to prepare for the work:

    • Roll the car onto the pit (or lift)

    • Having driven it first so that the box warms up

    Note: You can drain the oil without removing the protection, since there is a hole in it. However, then, at the moment the cork is pulled out, the stream will rush onto the protection and spread over it, and from there to the floor, you see, is not very pleasant. It's easier to unscrew the protection and remove it.

    Advice: If the oil we drained from the box contains metal particles, and the oil itself is dark in color, then it is recommended to pre-rinse the box. To do this, pour 1-1.5 liters of flushing oil into the gearbox. Then you should hang up one of the drive wheels, start the engine and engage first gear. Stop the engine after 5 minutes, drain the flush and fill the VAZ 2110 with only new transmission oil (according to the manufacturer’s recommendations)

    • Wipe the dipstick with a rag
    • Then install the funnel and pour lubricant into the hole from the dipstick, or use a syringe
