The standard “seven” disk has an offset of + 29 mm. However, for this parameter a standard deviation in one direction or another is provided, equal to 5 mm. In other words, the VAZ 2107 will fit wheels with an offset from + 24 to + 34 mm. The amount of overhang is measured in millimeters and is indicated on the marking as follows: ET 29, ET 30, ET 33, etc.

DIAMETER OF CENTERING HOLE

Any wheel rim is designed for a certain size of the hub, or rather, its centering flange. It is on this that the disk is mounted with its centering hole. For "seven" discs, the central hole has a diameter of 58.5 mm. In standard labeling this is designated as “DIA 58.5”. No deviations are allowed here, but some tuning enthusiasts manage to install on VAZ 2107 wheels with a smaller hole diameter by boring it, or a larger one by using special centering rings.

However, there is a way out, and more than one. The first option is to use special spacers between the disc and the hub. Such spacers have two bolt patterns: one standard for fastening to the hub, and the second for mounting the disk. The second option is suitable only for disks with the same number of bolts and a slight deviation from the diameter of the circle on which they are located. During installation, naturally, problems will arise with tightening the bolts at the final stage. It will not be possible to tighten them completely, which is why the wheel will dangle while moving. But this problem can be solved using special bolts with an offset center. You can either buy them or order them from a familiar turner.

Such a parameter as drilling is necessary so that the car owner, when buying wheels, does not make a mistake with the size of the mounting holes. If they are larger than the diameter of the bolts, the disc will not fit tightly and will begin to wobble over time. If they are smaller, the bolts simply will not fit into the holes. In order for the disc to fit freely on the hub, a central hole with a diameter of 58.5 millimeters is made in it. It is through this hole that its orientation occurs. The bolts only press the flange against it.

When installing an alloy wheel, you may need to use an adapter ring. Sometimes without such an additional part it is impossible to create an accurate alignment of the hub and the surface of the disk. The ring can be freely purchased at any auto store.

The offset, or offset of the disc on a VAZ 2107 is usually 29 millimeters. This term refers to the distance formed between the mating surface of the disk after installation on the hub, with a conditional plane passing through the center of the disk rim.

That is, when the offset is positive, it seems that the element has gone deep into the arch. With a negative value, it seems to come out of the arch, it seems that it is too deeply recessed in the seat.

Experts advise making the flight within normal limits. If the overhang is too large, the wheel may begin to touch the fender liners. A deviation of 5 millimeters in any direction is allowed. In other words, on a VAZ 2107 the offset can be in the range of +24/+34 millimeters.

Moreover, this parameter is designed only for a specific disk width. To install a wider model, it is necessary to withstand a smaller offset.

Optimal car tire pressure

The main task of car tires is to provide effective traction between the car and the road. With normal air pressure in the tire, the load in the contact patch of the wheel with the road is distributed evenly, due to which tire wear occurs evenly, the car handles well and fuel consumption is within normal limits.

There are three possible scenarios in which the tire pressure will not be optimal:

1. Increased pressure (tires overinflated);
2. Low pressure (tires underinflated);
3. Different pressure in all wheels.

Check the tire pressure with a special tire pressure gauge. This should only be done on cold tires, that is, before leaving the parking lot or garage.

If deviations from the normal pressure are detected in any of the tires (see the table below for what pressure should be in the tires of your passenger car), such a wheel must either be inflated or excess air released from it - that is, the pressure must be adjusted to norm. It is worth noting that the tire pressure in winter should be exactly the same as in summer. But due to the sharp temperature change, in winter, monitoring the air pressure in the wheels needs to be approached more responsibly.

It is better to inflate your tires outside. Also, do not forget to check the tire pressure when there are significant changes in ambient temperature, and if necessary, adjust it:

• if it gets cold outside, the pressure in the tires will decrease,
• and when it gets warmer, it will rise.

It should also be remembered that while the car is moving, the tires heat up, the air in them expands, and the pressure increases, and the handling and braking properties change.

With increased tire pressure, the load at the point of contact of the wheel with the road acts to a greater extent on the central part of the tire tread, thereby causing uneven wear of the tire.

On overinflated wheels, the car brakes worse! This happens because if the tires are overinflated, the contact patch with the road decreases, which means the friction force that keeps the car from sliding decreases. At the same time, the braking distance increases noticeably.

In just twenty minutes of driving, taking turns as aggressively as possible, the pressure in the car’s tires can increase by 0.5 atmospheres. And on long trips at high speed, the pressure in the tires can increase to 4-5 atmospheres. And modern tires are designed for this.

But if the tire has a hernia or cut, it can heat up and explode while driving. But on the road it’s a disaster.

Low tire pressure

Wheels lowered to just half an atmosphere change the behavior of the car and become unusable much earlier than expected. When the pressure is low, the load on the tire surface is distributed unevenly. In this case, the sidewalls of the tire where the tire contacts the road are subject to increased wear.
