In terms of work cycles, Lada is head and shoulders above. Warm-up duration is from 5 to 30 minutes, the choice can be made before each engine start. Combined with the ability to start the engine at an unlimited distance, you can ideally select the operating cycle so that you can get into an already warm interior in any weather. There are three automatic warm-up modes. The electronics can be configured to start the engine when the temperature in the cabin drops, when the battery is low, or by time and day of the week. All threshold values ​​for degrees, volts and hours are set by the user. Amazing flexibility!

By the way, you don’t have to worry about the safety of wheels, mirrors, etc., because there are built-in touch sensors (movement, impact, tilt).

Now VAZ employees are testing the functionality of the system - making sure that the mobile application works without failures. The Lada Connect program can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store and Play Market. But you will need to retrofit your car to use it. To date, there is no commercial sample of the Lada Connect complex - prototypes are still being tested on several hundred factory vehicles. The exact launch date for the system has not been announced: everything will depend on the test results. According to available data, implementation will begin with Granta, so Vesta will not receive telematics this year.

Pandora DX 9X — 9,950 rub.

The bestseller from the Kaluga company became such a bestseller for a reason. On the one hand, there are no excessive bells and whistles that this company loves so much and which not everyone needs, and without them the price was made very attractive. On the other hand, everything you need is there: a long-range key fob with a dialog code, Bluetooth support, which allows you not to dance around the car, forgetting the keys with this same key fob in it: you can open it from your phone. Moreover, although this is not full-fledged telematics (communication only works in a short range), even so the system allows full control via Bluetooth, including autostart control and receiving event history.

You will have to pay about 6-7 thousand more for installation.

In total, for 17,000 rubles we get a key fob with two-way communication, control of the central locking via an application via Bluetooth, optionally (for an additional fee) you can do autostart from the application and the key fob. GPS is optional and at an additional cost.

What is an auto alarm?

Automatic starting of the car engine is a function built into the security system, which allows you to control the power unit according to set values ​​(timer, coolant temperature). Interaction via key fob is also available.

The driver can configure autostart based on a timer or coolant temperature. In the first case, the engine will start at a certain time, in the second - when the antifreeze cools below a set value.

Ready for launch

For me personally, the most interesting feature of the system is autostart. Its benefits in our climate are obvious. Of course, it is better to install a pre-heater rather than running the engine at idle, but this is expensive.

I set the desired operating period and, by pressing a virtual key on the smartphone display, I start the engine. The application displays a notification about the execution of the command, and a “exhaust” appears on the car’s screen: it worked. The distance to the car does not matter, because the command does not come via a radio channel, but through a cellular network. There is an advantage over the Renault Start system, which VAZ probably looked at when creating their product. The button on the key card can be used to start French cars only if they are in line of sight. Of course, in Renault you can set the desired engine start time in advance through the multimedia system menu - but what if your plans change?

Battery load

There is an opinion that this system causes the battery to fail prematurely. But this is pure myth, and it is not clear on what it is based.

The fact is that part of the alarm system is autostart - it connects to the on-board network of the car, consuming current. But other devices do the same thing. And this is completely normal, the battery does not suffer from this at all, because it is designed for such work.

Of course, if the battery is old enough and it is high time to replace it, a discharge is possible. But this is quite normal.

How does a standard Lada Vesta car alarm work?

The remote key of the complex has a new unique shape and three buttons: open, close doors, open luggage compartment. The standard Lada Vesta alarm system, like many other simple systems, has a warning signal that the car is being hacked.

If an intruder gets into the car, the light on the remote control will turn on, and the car will start making a very loud and nasty squeak until you insert the key into the door keyhole and turn it.

However, tests are being carried out that reveal the inability of expensive security systems to resist the code grabbers of attackers. There is an assumption that there is no need to install additional functions; they only make the theft process easier for people who are purposefully preparing for theft using specialized equipment. The purchased applied alarm system for a Lada Vesta costs about 10-12 thousand rubles.

The cleverest?

It is not yet clear whether Lada Connect telematics will include driving behavior monitoring. It is implemented in the system installed on our Vesta. The “trick” is interesting, and after each trip I record the rating given to me. But I don’t always agree with the interpretation of dangerous maneuvers: sometimes GPS positioning fails, and the driver receives an incorrect claim as a speed limit violator. I’m driving on a street with a limit of 60 km/h, but the system thinks that I’m on a parallel yard path where you can’t accelerate faster than 20 km/h. Such errors will unfairly increase the cost of your insurance policy.

Not everyone may need the remaining functions of the future Lada Connect system. For example, monitoring the battery charge is useful for those whose car is often idle. Someone will praise the function of determining the location of the car: is the son driving it while the father is on a business trip? I used the lock control from my smartphone once: I wanted to pick up a package from the car, but I didn’t have the keys in my pocket.

Do you need the Lada Connect system? To comply with global trends - yes. It's modern and comfortable. Should it become mandatory? Don't think. And it is very correct that there will be a free trial period. Everyone should try it and decide if they need such a system.

AvtoOko24 Vesta/Xray/Renault-Connect — 8500 with installation
