The ratchet mechanism is not very convenient. Other metal jacks have a special pawl. Therefore, there is no need to constantly remove and insert the key. When the wheel is off the ground and can rotate, it can be replaced.
Is it possible to use
You can change wheels using a factory plastic jack. But in an emergency situation you shouldn’t rely on it. The load capacity is small, there is practically no safety margin, and it requires vertical installation. With a slight misalignment, it bends strongly.
It's one thing when you change a tire in good light and normal weather on a flat road. It’s another matter if you’re driving at night, you run into a hole, puncture a tire, there’s an incomprehensible roadside – rubble or mud, rain. In such a situation, when lifting the car, you may not keep an eye on the jack, and it will break.
