Replacing a dim lamp

On the wall, draw with chalk the center of one headlight (the other is covered, for example, with a piece of cardboard) and the center of the body. A second line is made 12 cm lower. The third line is drawn 22 cm below the first. Based on these three projections, a vertical line is drawn covering the center of the headlight and the body. One of the two screws located inside the headlight adjusts the tilt of the light, and the second forms a directed beam.
You will get a projection on the second line. Having completed the procedure with the second headlight, you get an adjusted low beam. In this case, the high beam will also be adjusted.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Do not replace while the engine is running.
- Maintain the time from the moment the lamp is turned off, as it has a high degree of incandescence.
- Remove the lamp without jerking or pressing, as it often bursts into small particles with a scatter that is dangerous not only for the eyes.
- Do not create congestion by stopping on the roadway or shoulder as a result of an unexpected loss of light. Continue to the nearest service point.
- Do not overuse the installation of xenon lamps. These blind drivers of oncoming cars, aggravating the occurrence of road accidents. By the way, in some CIS countries these are prohibited.

This design of the fog lamp allows you to illuminate the road ahead of the car and minimize the reflection of light entering the eyes of the driver of oncoming traffic.
Additional lighting devices, as a rule, are spotlights with a narrow directional beam. They are installed to improve visibility when driving on highways and forest roads, as well as to illuminate a parking space at night.
Existing types of headlights for cars
The headlights available on the market for the VAZ 2115 are mainly a monoblock consisting of a plastic housing, a high and low beam source, reflectors and direction indicators, protected by a glass element. It also includes a device that allows you to adjust the focal length of the optical system, its tilt angle and other parameters. Sources of light

Incandescent bulbs in the main high and low beam headlights are still found in older model cars. Their only advantage is their low price.

Its illumination is 2 times greater and is about 1600 lumens with the same power as an incandescent lamp (50 watts), and its service life reaches 1000 hours. Disadvantages include high temperature, sensitivity to power surges and the need for special measures during maintenance - the device cannot be touched with bare hands.
Gas discharge lamps are filled with xenon and do not have an incandescent filament. The glow of this inert gas occurs when an electric arc appears between the electrodes. To ignite such a lamp, a voltage of about 15 volts is required, and to maintain normal operation - about 80 volts. Therefore, special electronic equipment is required to ensure the operation of xenon light sources.
Despite this significant drawback, gas-discharge lamps have become widely used in automobile lighting due to their high luminous flux (up to 3200 lumens) with lower power consumption (30-35 watts). At the same time, the service life of a xenon lamp is longer than that of a halogen lamp. Note that a high degree of illumination also has a negative side: a large luminous flux blinds oncoming drivers, therefore the use of gas-discharge lamps is prohibited in lighting devices not adapted for their use. In other words, you cannot install a xenon bulb instead of a halogen bulb if the optical system does not provide for this. Another big drawback is the high price.
LED lighting devices represent an innovative class of light sources, fundamentally different from all previously known types. The emission of light flux in them occurs as a result of the passage of current in the silicon semiconductor. LEDs are the most efficient light sources and have a lifespan of approximately 8,000 hours. To emit the same luminous flux, they need only 15 watts, while for halogen lamps this figure is 65 watts, and for xenon lamps - 35.
Despite the obvious advantages, LED light sources have a number of disadvantages that limit their use. You cannot simply replace a halogen or xenon lamp with an LED source: it requires a special design of the optical system with lenses. Otherwise, it will shine brightly anywhere but on the road.
The cost of LED lighting devices is very high. As a rule, they are mounted in one sealed unit, damage to which will require its complete replacement.
Characteristics of modern LEDs
The advantages of LEDs over conventional light sources are the following:
1. Long service life. If high-quality diodes were used, the production of which was not defective, their service life is calculated in years and even decades. That is why they are so popular and are installed on many cars. Such a long service life is primarily due to the design features of the diode. At the same time, do not forget that several diodes are installed in the headlights at once, which means that if one of them fails, the headlight can continue to be used.
2. High degree of illumination. Diodes can have different shades. Quite often, when tuning, motorists choose a cool shade of white. Note that it is not natural, and over time it can begin to irritate not only drivers of oncoming cars, but also the driver himself. The level of illumination increases significantly when using headlights with LEDs.
3. The design of the light source in question does not respond to environmental influences. Thus, we can say that high humidity, strong shaking while driving and many other points do not affect the service life of the headlights. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the diodes are protected from high humidity - a common problem with conventional light sources is high humidity, which oxidizes the contacts.
4. Small overall dimensions determine the possibility of reducing the size of the structure, as well as the possibility of installing several diodes to increase the degree of illumination of the roadway.
5. When using diodes, you can achieve a truly unusual effect that transforms the exterior of the car. This is due to the fact that the light flow has a certain direction; from a certain angle you can see burning lights, which attract attention.
This list of advantages entirely determines the popularity of optics that are based on LEDs. At the same time, there are practically no disadvantages. For a long time, a negative attitude was formed regarding the light source in question, which was associated with the spread of low-quality versions. With short-term use they burned out. Therefore, we recommend purchasing optics only from trusted suppliers.
