After removing the valve cover and drying out the valves, it was clear that the guides were badly broken, since the valves were hanging out and the valve seals were leaking oil, it was decided to overhaul the cylinder head.

The valves on the cylinder head were made of iron, as they were magnetized to a magnet, and they broke their nests underneath them. It was decided to find factory, light-alloy ones, the old valve in the photo, and a bored seat.

I won’t describe the repair of the cylinder head in detail, but after replacing the guides, seats, valves, and adjusting them, I got such a nice-looking cylinder head.

Having removed the engine and dismantled the sump, I discovered that the crankshaft was worn out and needed to be sharpened (grinded), and I also sent the block for boring.

In the meantime, it was decided to replace the crown on the flywheel, the old crown was easily dismantled with a chisel and a hammer, and the new one, pre-heated in a circle with a blowtorch (NOT RED!), was placed on the flywheel and lightly tapped with a rubber hammer so that it would fit well.

Having preheated the connecting rods with a blowtorch, put on the piston and insert the fingers, without confusing which side should have the recess for the valves on the pistons, and the locks on the connecting rods.
