So the AvtoVAZ company equipped its latest models of VAZ-2110 cars with additional on-board computers - DTVV. But the next model of the VAZ-2115 car was equipped with a VDO dashboard, which already came with 2 windows, which made it possible to display the temperature regime directly on the instrument panel itself.

Today, the following options for installing DTVV on the VAZ-2110 car model are known and quite successfully used:

  • • First of all, you need to figure out which air temperature sensor is the most optimal in this case. Among the popular devices is DTVV, catalog number 2115-3828210-03 (price range 200-250 rubles).
  • • To make sure that it is working properly, you can use a simple technique (test): by heating or cooling the sensor itself, its resistance values ​​will also change in accordance with the instructions supplied with it.

So, the primary question that arises when installing the sensor is:

Where should the DTVV be located?

In accordance with the instructions, the DTVV must be isolated from dampness and direct exposure to sunlight must be minimized. Also, the accuracy of the sensor readings is negatively affected by heat from the engine compartment. As an exception, it is allowed that the flow of oncoming air directly impacts the sensor itself.

Having compared all the conditions, a suitable location for the sensor is the front of the car (behind the front bumper in the center), as well as near the towing eye (in the bumper or slightly above the bumper on the left in the direction of travel).

You should know that if you install the DTVV in the rear of the car, the temperature readings will differ significantly from the actual temperature. Because the warm air coming from the engine is directed towards the rear of the engine.

The sensor is equipped with 2 contacts: one goes to ground, and the second signals temperature changes. It is advisable to make such information contact into the car interior through the corresponding hole near the fuse box.

Having carried out the above steps, you can proceed to connecting the DTVV to the VAZ-2110 trip computer.

Having selected the desired model of on-board computer, it is recommended to carefully study all the documentation related to its connection.

The manufacturer equips VAZ-2110 cars with an on-board computer of the MK-2112 brand or AMK-211001 brand.

Based on the instructions in the instructions, the second contact of the DTVV should be connected to contact C4 on the MK block. As for the wire extending from contact C4, it must be removed and reliably insulated.

If there is no DTVV or if the circuit is broken, the following symbol “- -” will appear on the on-board computer display.

When connecting the sensor to on-board computers such as State, Multitronics and Gamma, it is recommended to adhere to the attached diagram included in the kit. To eliminate errors in temperature readings, a temperature calibration function was provided, but, unfortunately, not all models of on-board computers have it.

Temperature sensor VAZ 2110

The most important condition for the normal operation of a modern car is constant monitoring of the temperature conditions of its systems.

In Ladas of the tenth family, temperature sensors are used in the engine cooling system, air conditioning system, and also to measure the ambient air temperature outside the car.

The sensor is designed to control the heating of antifreeze that circulates in the car's cooling system. The measurement results are transmitted to the electronic control unit to automatically adjust the composition of the fuel mixture, adjust engine speed and activate the radiator cooling fan.

If the sensor is faulty, the injector does not work correctly, and when critical temperatures are reached, the fan does not turn on and the antifreeze boils.

The sensor is a resistor in a metal case, the electrical resistance of which varies depending on the temperature of the antifreeze.

For VAZ 2110 early releases, the temperature sensor was located in the upper part of the cylinder block, on the left side of the engine. The injection “Tens” are equipped with two temperature sensors:

  • Coolant temperature sensor, the readings of which are read by the vehicle's ECU (this sensor is located on the front side of the thermostat housing);
  • Antifreeze temperature gauge sensor on the dashboard (located in the engine block under the upper radiator pipe).

Principle of operation

The mechanism of action of the temperature sensor on the VAZ 2110–2112 family is based on changing resistance parameters depending on the ambient temperature t°C. In essence, we have before us an electronic resistor with a negative temperature coefficient. That is, the lower the t°C, the higher the resistance of the device, and vice versa.

What function does DTOZH perform in the ECU system?

There is no damper (choke) on injection machines. Now the fuel is enriched or leaned by the control unit using the t°C values ​​coming from the DTOZH. In addition, the main controller monitors the operating temperature of the engine and gives a command to turn on the fan if it overheats.

Replacing coolant temperature sensors

Replacing a faulty temperature sensor is carried out as follows:

  • The car is installed on a flat surface, the terminal is removed from the battery.
  • The coolant is partially drained so that the antifreeze level in the engine block is below the sensor installation location.
  • For free access to the place where the sensor is located, it is recommended to dismantle the air filter housing.
  • The electrical wiring block is disconnected from the temperature sensor, and the sensor is turned out of the mounting hole using a spanner wrench “19”.
  • A sealing washer is installed on the new temperature sensor; for additional sealing, the last couple of thread turns can be treated with a high-temperature sealant (for example, red “Abro”).
  • Then the sensor is screwed into the hole, the connector is connected, the air filter housing is installed in place, and refrigerant is added to the cooling system.

After completing assembly, you need to start the engine and warm up the car until the fan turns on to make sure the system is working. You should also check the tightness of the installation of the new sensor visually.

Dismantling


Removal principle
To install a new interior temperature element, you will first have to remove the old one. It can be removed quite simply:

  • Four clamps, presented in the form of springs, are used as clamps;
  • Be sure to park the car on a level surface and turn on the handbrake;
  • For your own safety and comfort, do not forget to remove the negative cable from the battery;
  • Using a slotted screwdriver, move the box slightly from its seat;
  • Dismantling begins from the top of the sensor, which makes work more convenient;
  • After removing the device from its fasteners, do not jerk it sharply. The fact is that it is connected to two wire blocks. They are the ones that connect the sensor to the car’s electronic system. Carefully disconnect the wires, after which the dismantling can be considered complete.

Cabin temperature sensor

To control the heating system of the VAZ 2110, a cabin temperature sensor - DTVS is used. Based on its readings, the controller adjusts the position of the heater valve and the fan rotation speed, supplying cold or hot air to the machine. The sensor is located in the middle of the ceiling panel, behind the central lamp. The sensor consists of a thermoelement and a microfan installed in a rectangular plastic housing.

Replacing the temperature sensor with your own hands is quite simple: you need to carefully pry off the retaining latches with a screwdriver, lower the sensor and disconnect the wire block. The new device is installed in the reverse order. Catalog number of the original part: 2110-8128050-02, its average cost is about 800 rubles.

If, after installing a new sensor, inconsistencies arise between the mode selected on the climate control unit and the actual temperature in the cabin, then adjustments should be made. To do this, you need to remove the heater control unit from the panel and turn the adjusting screw on the left side of the case (to increase the temperature - clockwise, to decrease - in the opposite direction).

Checking settings

Before replacing, you need to check the settings in the interior heating and ventilation system. In 20% of cases, incorrect set parameters are the reason that the air conditioner in the car does not work well in the summer, and the stove does not work well in the winter.

To do this, you need to close the doors and windows in the car and set a certain temperature in the cabin, for example 25 degrees. Place a thermometer near the sensor. After 15 minutes, check the thermometer reading. If the difference is more than 1 degree, adjust the sensor through the adjustment screw on the device. Scrolling clockwise will increase the range, counterclockwise will decrease the maximum temperature threshold.

Outdoor temperature sensor

On “Dozens” of later releases with a VDO dashboard with two displays and a trip computer, an outside air temperature sensor was installed. When the engine was turned on, the temperature readings outside the VAZ 2110 were displayed on the instrument panel screen.

The sensor is located inside the front bumper, next to the front fog lamp. The installation side of the device in each specific case may be different (on the driver’s side or on the passenger side). If the temperature sensor was installed by the owner himself, then most often it was taped with electrical tape to the base of the towing eye.

If the outside air temperature sensor does not work, remove the plastic protection of the left or right front wheel arch (depending on the location of the sensor), disconnect the wiring connector and remove the sensor from the holder in the front bumper. Causes and symptoms of malfunction

Service workshop technicians say that in 90% of cases, the breakdown of the temperature sensor on a VAZ and other brands of cars occurs due to natural causes. Most often, a break in the internal contacts of the resistor occurs. As a result, the DTOZh sends incorrect parameters to the ECU, for example, engine starting t° within 0 °C.   • the engine starts with difficulty and tends to stall;
  • the speed fluctuates even on a warm engine;
  • strong detonation is felt;
  • the former power is lost.

The connection instructions say that the contact of the sensor we are interested in should be connected to contact C4 of the MK block, and the contact attached to C4 should be disconnected and isolated.

VDO instrument panels with two displays were installed mainly in luxury VAZ 2115. However, even the premium assembly did not include a temperature sensor that would transmit readings to the display window. You can correct the manufacturer’s greed by installing a temperature sensor and connecting it directly to the instrument panel itself. To do this, you need to connect the information wire of the temperature sensor to the red block of the X2 panel to socket No. 1. If a wire is already attached to this contact (in most cases this is the wire of the fuel level sensor in the tank), then they are combined.

Note! If after connection the display shows -40, then there is an open circuit between the sensor and the panel.
