When choosing in the lowest price range for used cars, when the budget is limited to literally 100 thousand rubles, the most common models are Daewoo Nexia and the domestic auto industry represented by the VAZ-2110.

These two cars can really be compared to each other as they are equally cheap and have their own strengths and weaknesses. To settle on one of the candidates, you should compare them in more detail, look into the interior and engine compartment, and take into account other characteristics and capabilities that are significant for the buyer.

The comparison will be made between the latest update of the VAZ-2110 and the 2nd generation Daewoo Nexia.

General technical information

The second generation Daewoo Nexia was introduced at the end of the summer of 2008. Although it was called a new generation, in fact it is the result of a deep modernization of its predecessor. The car received a slightly modified appearance, a different interior and engines. Production of the car continued until 2016.

The second Nexia is built on a front-wheel drive platform from FGeneral Motors, which was called T-Body. Nexia inherited this trolley from the Opel Kadett E. The engine is mounted transversely. The front suspension is independent with MacPherson struts. At the rear there is a semi-independent system with an elastic cross member.

The steering mechanism is rack and pinion, and only on the TOP trim levels was power steering available. There are ventilated disc brakes at the front and primitive drums at the rear. ABS wasn't even an option.

The domestic top ten is much older than its current competitor, but this did not give Nexia any particular advantage.

Work on the VAZ-2110 project began back in 1983, but a prototype appeared only 2 years later. Serial production started in 1995. Even at that time, from a technical point of view, the model was significantly inferior to its foreign competitors.

Over the course of its entire life cycle, the ten went through several updates, but production was eventually stopped in 2007. Although, under license from the Bogdan plant under the brand of the same name, the car continued to be assembled in Cherkassy until 2014.

The VAZ-2110 uses a front-wheel drive platform, which the model inherited from the VAZ 2108. The front suspension is independent with MacPherson struts. At the rear, AvtoVAZ installed a semi-independent structure with a torsion beam. The steering mechanism is rack and pinion, but only in later versions did a standard hydraulic booster appear. First of all, it is worth considering one of the best domestically produced models, the VAZ 2110, and compare it with other models of this company. You can take the VAZ 2112 as a basis. The advantages of the VAZ 2112 include a lower cost with a similar interior configuration.
In addition, this car has a convenient transformation of the interior space. The trunk is made much higher, so you can load a lot of things. When choosing a 2110 or VAZ 2112, you must take into account that when driving in bad weather at average speed, the rear window will remain dry and clean, and if the slightest amount of water gets on it, you can immediately remove the moisture. When choosing 2110 or 2115, you should focus on the quality of each of the cars in question. 2115 became an innovative version of the domestic automobile industry, created on the basis of its no less successful predecessor, the VAZ 2109. This car was created as a front-wheel drive sedan, which became one of the first representatives of the Samara 2 line.

VAZ 2115 was equipped with an engine with a volume of 1.5 liters. It was equipped with a manual transmission, allowing the car to be switched to five different speeds. The car is perceived as the most sophisticated model ever produced by VAZ. The front seats lack even a hint of lateral support, and adjustments are minimal. The rear sofa is designed for 2 people. There is minimal space in the legs. For the C-class, this is a frankly weak result.

The trunk of the Daewoo Nexia holds 530 liters. The back of the rear sofa cannot be lowered; there is no hatch for long items.

Let's pay attention to the model configurations. Even the cheapest cars should have a minimum level of comfort.

In the basic “Grants” we have a relatively good set:

  • driver airbag;
  • electric power steering;
  • air conditioner;

It seems that after Logan it is impossible to create a more empty configuration, but Daewoo Nexia has surpassed Renault. In the simplest Low Cost we have:

No airbags, no music, no power steering.

In Grant, the standard set of options is easily expanded thanks to several trim levels. At maximum, you can additionally get the following set of options:

  • electrically heated front seats;
  • electric windows for front and rear windows;
  • driver and front passenger airbag;
  • cruise control (since 2014);
  • rear parking sensors;
  • climate control.

But the empty Logan can be expanded, although not so significantly. The maximum configuration includes a little more:

  • air conditioner;
  • power steering;
  • front power windows;
  • central locking.

For an additional fee, you can buy a safety package: ABS and a front passenger airbag. As you can see, the manufacturer went a little overboard with making the car cheaper.

How is Nexia ? It has a lot of configurations, and they expand quite well. In the “top” version we can get the following:

  • safety bars in the doors;
  • fog lights;
  • central locking;
  • seat upholstery with an improved type of fabric;
  • audio preparation: 4 speakers with MP3 and USB radio;
  • power steering;
  • air conditioner;
  • front and rear electric windows.

There are no airbags. You can't purchase an additional option either.

Unfortunately, none of the models got a leather interior.

This is what cars look like for budget money. And you shouldn’t even be surprised - they were originally planned that way! But if you value comfort, then the brainchild of AvtoVAZ again wins in this trinity. It is he who has the widest configurations.

The 10 is more accessible to maintain, more economical, and offers many spare parts for pennies. Nexia will be more expensive to maintain and operate. But what to choose in the end, each buyer decides for himself.

The second generation of Daewoo Nexia never acquired a modern appearance; it still looks archaic, in the style of the 90s. But if the front view can still be perceived positively thanks to the well-tailored bumper, the branded radiator grille and aggressive-looking lighting equipment, then in the profile there is simply nothing to praise the sedan for, and the rear looks completely awkward.

For Lada-2115 the situation is no better. Despite all the efforts of the engineers, the car was not far from its predecessor, the VAZ-21099. Yes, the contours of the body have become rounder, the shape and size of the hood, optics and front wings have changed, a trunk spoiler has appeared, but overall Samara 2 looks even more outdated than its competitor in the review. However, the question of which is better, Nexia or Lada-2115, remains purely academic - buyers of these budget cars are least concerned about appearance.

Both Nexia and VAZ 2112 are inexpensive to maintain, the cost of spare parts for both cars is low, although a domestic car will still cost less. However, some parts of the foreign car may be missing (they can be purchased to order). Both machines are distinguished by their unpretentiousness and maintainability.

Similarities and differences between the two cars

Let us remember that both Nexia and the “fourteenth” have their roots in the last century. The first car is the fruit of the work of South Korean designers who improved the once popular Opel Kadett - the outlines of the latter are recognizable to many car enthusiasts. VAZ-2114 is also a restyling, where the “nine” was taken as the basis. In both the first and second cases, the designers tried to eliminate the shortcomings of the samples, but there is no talk of 100% success here. Some of the shortcomings of their predecessors migrated to their more recent versions. However, given the cost of these cars, you can easily turn a blind eye to these disadvantages.

Let's look at the remaining parameters that are usually compared when you need to make a choice between two passenger cars. These are, in particular:

When comparing the engines that cars are equipped with, it should be emphasized that here the advantage is clearly on the side of Nexia.

The thing is that, with the same volume, its volume is slightly more powerful and at the same time more economical. The difference in fuel consumption per 100 kilometers is 1 liter. Agree, at current gasoline prices this is a strong argument in favor of Daewoo. At the same time, both cars are approximately equal in speed indicators - the Nexia is faster, but not much.

At the same time, the running VAZ is more reliable, and the service life of consumables is longer. One more point should be taken into account, which is very relevant in Russian realities. We are talking about ground clearance - the “fourteenth” is a little higher, which gives it an advantage over the Nexia on often broken domestic roads, especially in the outback.

Another very important indicator when comparing cars is handling. Daewoo and VAZ have a steering rack, but Nexia has an advantage here in the form of a hydraulic booster. The latter makes complex maneuvers in confined spaces more comfortable, since turning the steering wheel while standing still is much easier. Don’t also forget that the Nexia’s turning radius is 30 centimeters smaller. At the same time, it is believed that the “fourteenth” holds the road more confidently at speed.
