At the design stage of the newest car model, it became clear that society would not go unnoticed by the clearance of the Lada Granta, which could adapt to our crazy roads. The car came out with a rear door that opens upward, with a window and has the configuration of a sedan (imitating the shape of a small trunk). A fresh VAZ with a similar body came off the assembly line in the spring of 2015 and immediately received great interest from both automotive experts and fans of our automobile industry.
The design of a car in a new body began almost sequentially with the production of a standard sedan. The difference in period was not large and amounted to approximately six months between the time they began to develop the design for the liftback. An Englishman, vice-president of the Renault design center, started this work. E. Grade successfully completed the work on the car in the sedan body, but the liftback was already finished being developed by other specialists who spent quite a lot of time on the ground clearance, as well as the cross-country ability of the car. Due to the appearance of the second generation Lada Kalina in the world, this long-awaited project was slightly postponed.

VAZ has improved the front bumper, which does not catch curbs or the edges of potholes on the road and looks organic and modern. A pleasant detail can rightly be considered new mirrors with built-in turn indicators, which have undergone a number of design changes and no longer make noise at high speeds. In addition to impressive ground clearance and good cross-country ability, the new VAZ received an ideal shape for the transition of the roof line to the trunk, combined with a window sill line ascending to the stern. Such decisions are aimed at the aesthetic beauty of the car, which is designed to sharpen the interest of car enthusiasts in the new brainchild of VAZ.
If you touch on the interior of the Grant, you shouldn’t look for cardinal differences from the base. This is caused by the unification of models and, as a result, a reduction in the cost of the vehicle. The interior has the same inexpensive plastic, a multimedia complex, standard and not very convenient cup holders, a “sweeping” gear selector for a manual transmission, and a unique driver’s position.
There is no power unit temperature indicator, and the view of the rear window at the bottom is slightly limited. Although the Lada Granta liftback has enough advantages, many of them are borrowed from the sedan, but the larger and more convenient trunk, together with the increased ground clearance, sets it apart from its older brother.

The interior of the Lada Priora, whose ground clearance required a fairly high landing, was developed in the Italian city of Turin, in the Cancerano engineering design studio. The interior is dominated by the modern style of automotive interior design. It was possible to eliminate the shortcomings of past design developments in the interior of the 110th model. The exterior design has also undergone changes. The overly accentuated border zone between the roof and the rest of the body along the C-pillar line was abolished. The rear wheel arches of the Lada Priora have acquired a more aesthetic appearance. The solid strip of rear lights, which looked somewhat ridiculous on a compact car, was canceled; instead, two vertically developed lights stood along the edges of the trunk lid, visually expanding the exterior. In general, the designers managed to move away from the common image of an “antelope in position,” which was what people called the “ten” as soon as it appeared on Russian roads. Based on my operating experience, I will say that the ground clearance of 16 cm is more than enough for the Lada Granta.
