For almost 10 years now, a domestic station wagon has been rolling off the AvtoVAZ assembly line, which remains popular year after year. The fact is that there are no special alternatives to the Russian-French station wagon, but we found 5 alternative foreign cars that are very similar to the Lada Largus.
In 2022, Lada Largus received a long-awaited restyling, updating its appearance and interior. But along with this, the cost has also increased. Now I am interested in the question of whether it is possible to buy even a used station wagon. similar to the Lada Largus in its philosophy, but more respectable and prestigious.
Renault Kangoo
I dare to suggest that potential Largus buyers expect incredible comfort, modern design and acceleration from zero to hundreds in 6 seconds from their car. Most likely, this category of buyers requires trouble-free operation of the machine, a minimum of headaches and the ability to move cargo from one point to another.
Renault Kangoo can easily cope with this task. This unsightly looking “heel” may well give odds to the domestic Lada Largus station wagon. There are living specimens, but you'll have to look hard. However, the owners highlight the good survivability of these cars, inexpensive maintenance, spacious body, availability of a passenger version and a van body.
True, many specimens are not famous for their corrosion resistance, but Largus also has questions about this.

Regarding the steering, it should be noted that there is not much difference between these cars. The engines are also similar in their throttle response and power. The only difference is the range of engines that cars can be equipped with. Such cars are pleasant to drive, as they accelerate quite quickly.
The gearbox shifts smoothly and smoothly. The difference between Largus is that the lever stroke in it is somewhat shortened compared to Logan. In first gear, Largus can not only start moving, but also gain momentum.
Body
In Russia, the sedan body type is traditionally chosen. Largus can be considered huge, unlike Renault Logan. It has 7 seats, although it can also be produced in a five-seater version. The Largus trunk also has a larger volume.

Initially, Largus was a complete copy of the 1st generation Dacia Logan MCV, with the exception of the line of engines and gearboxes and a slightly modified radiator grille and logos. Yes, the Dacia Logan MCV had a diesel engine in its line of engines, which Largus did not have.
Officially, the Dacia Logan MCV cannot be bought in Russia, but you can find this used car on message boards. I don’t think it’s worth talking about technical performance, because what’s the point if I’ve already offered you 4 excellent options for cars similar to the Lada Largus.
Dacia Lodgy - this is how Largus should be
Dacia Loggy. Today we will introduce those who are still unfamiliar with one of the best representatives of the class of budget family cars. Namely with Dacia Lodgy.
This car has been produced from 2012 to the present and is doing well in the markets of Eastern and all of Europe. It is produced in Romania and created on the Logan platform. Which already speaks of his unpretentiousness and endurance.
Externally, Dacia Lodgy is not a masterpiece of a designer’s brush, but it cannot be called an outright freak either. Moreover, this single-volume car is memorable; the appearance has not been reduced to boring and gray, for which many thanks to the designers. From certain angles it resembles a bloated Sandero. The only thing is that I would like to install larger wheels (the base ones are R15), they are somehow too small against the backdrop of the large body.
Although the size is large only visually. Dimensions Dacia Lodgy length 4,498 mm. (just a little more than Duster). At the same time, the trunk is very large, 827 liters with two rows of seats, and if you fold the second row, the volume increases to 2,617 liters. At the same time, there is also a third row, in which, of course, the trunk is minimal, but passengers in the last row feel more or less tolerable, even adults.
The driver's seat of the Dacia Lodgy is, as expected, one on one with Logan. Only the glazing area is noticeably larger and, accordingly, visibility is better. And so the controls, for Renault owners, are familiar and in their places. The finishing materials are also the most budget-friendly, although they are made quite well.
Passengers in the second row will not have luxury in the finishing, but at the same time they will have room in their legs and above their heads. There is much more space than in the concern's sedans and hatchbacks. The floor tunnel is almost invisible, but the middle passenger's legroom will be limited by the water bottle organizer.
As I said, there is a third row of seats. And it is able to accommodate adult passengers, providing minimal, but still comfort on the road. Of course, this will mean sacrificing luggage space.
Dacia Lodgy is available with petrol engines: turbocharged 1.2 liters (115 hp) and naturally aspirated 1.6 (86 and 102 hp). There are also two diesel options with a volume of 1.5 liters, with a power of 90 and 110 hp. respectively. But the gearbox is only manual, there is no automatic, just like in Largus, which is a shame.
Perhaps, although most likely not, Dacia Lodgy will appear here too, replacing or complementing the Lada Largus. This is the best option (not counting the lack of automatic transmission) for a budget family car.
