Until this moment, AVTOVAZ hid the interior of the LADA Vesta SW (station wagon) and LADA Vesta SW Cross (off-road station wagon); there were only spy shots online. On July 13, 2022, photos of the interior and trunk of station wagons in the maximum configuration were published on the official LADA website.

Next to these hard workers, Vesta SW, fragrant with freshness, is a girl from the catwalk. When Steve Mattin says that it is impossible to name the sole author of the design, he is clearly being modest. Back in Sweden, he cut his teeth on Volvo cargo-passenger “suitcases” and showed the world the fast-moving Volvo V60. You also imagine a Volvo when you look at the Vesta station wagon? This is not a knock on Steve. Quite the opposite. This means that our car is tailored according to modern European patterns. Moreover, the Vesta SW is sleeker than the Volvo - at least for my taste. The roof line separated from the rest of the body, the rear-facing shark fin of the rear pillar, the elongated silhouette - a dynamic profile!

About the engine and transmission

There is no official information on this yet, but it’s hard not to notice the 1.8 nameplates on the body of both station wagons. Most likely, new AVTOVAZ products will appear in the following configurations:

• 1.6-liter engine (VAZ 21129, 106 hp) and manual transmission-2180
• 1.6-liter engine (VAZ 21129.106 hp) and AMT-2182
• 1.8-liter engine (VAZ 21179, 122 hp) and AMT-2182
• 1.8-liter engine (VAZ 21179, 122 hp) and manual transmission from Renault (possibly a little later)

All-wheel drive is not worth the wait.

Trunk

The trunk has niches, nets, pockets and a double floor. All this makes the luggage compartment of the station wagon multifunctional. The trunk volume of the station wagon, taking into account the niches, is 480 liters (up to the curtain shelf). The space under the false floor provides an additional 95 liters, and the trunk volume with the second row seats folded (up to the window sill line) is 825 liters. There is a button on the fifth door to open the trunk. Also in the trunk there are two courtesy lights and a 12-volt outlet, which is located on the right side panel.

The cooled glove box (volume 14 liters) deserves special attention. On both models, it received the function of smooth opening of the lid (how to modify it yourself), as well as an integrated internal organizer with a cup holder. There is a high console between the front seats. It not only serves as an armrest for the driver and front passenger, but also provides additional storage space.

Lada Vesta Cross will begin to be sold simultaneously with a regular station wagon in the second half of 2022. The official cost of the Lada Vesta station wagon was not announced. According to rough estimates, the price for the basic version will be about 570,000 rubles. The top “Cross” version will cost more than 800,000 rubles.

Station wagon improvements

Exterior:

• Rear disc brakes (on some trim levels);
• Flat, lockable fuel filler flap;
• There is no lock cylinder on the trunk lid, instead there is a button;
• Double chrome exhaust pipe (on the “Cross” version);
• Antenna in the form of a fin.

Interior:

• armrest with box for the tunnel (in Comfort and Luxe trim levels);
• armrest for rear passengers;
• courtesy light for the rear row of seats;
• daytime illumination of the instrument cluster;
• tire pressure monitoring;
• separate button for heating the windshield.

The station wagon’s interior has not been officially shown, but spy photos have already appeared on the Internet.

Inside the Lada Vesta car, materials and innovations were used that had not been used on a vase before. This made overall operation more pleasant for people; for the first time on a vase, the steering column could be adjusted for reach and installation angle. The steering wheel can be adjusted for reach by 50 mm and angle by 7 degrees. Vesta now has a multifunction steering wheel, which was not previously available on any VAZ model. The steering wheel has a three-spoke badge in the middle, it looks made with high quality and accuracy! The steering wheel has control buttons for the cruise control radio and telephone.

The instrument panel is interestingly implemented; it is grouped into three wells, all of which resembles a sports car. The quality of the panel material is good. The panel has few lamps, but despite this it looks informative. The torpedo is made of dark plastic. The center console is level with the panel, but protrudes forward a little and this is convenient for use; you don’t need to reach out to press a certain button. The console is divided into two parts, but depending on the configuration, it is located on top (in the expensive configuration there is a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen), and a branded radio in the cheaper basic version. On the second part of the panel there is a climate system separated by a row of buttons. The central tunnel is equipped with two cup holders.

The car has good visibility; the arches do not interfere with the view, as on the previous model 2170. Two airbags are built into the front panel (driver plus passenger). Regarding the interior trim, it looks high quality. The door cards, by the way, use new Soft Look plastic, are visually similar to leather. The plastic is embossed and hard to the touch. Despite the cheap materials, the interior looks quite strict and not childish, and if the car is in the Luxury configuration, the interior is equipped with additional chrome inserts. In general, Vesta’s interior looks a class higher than it is: ergonomic seats with good upholstery, all instruments and elements are arranged thoughtfully. When you get into the car, it’s pleasant to be in, you can see the road, and it’s easy to read the information on the speedometer. The seats have a high depth of adjustment, which allows tall people to feel comfortable behind the wheel. In previous models, there was limited space in the back, which was a big minus. There is ample knee room behind the driver; the distance from the rear sofa to the front seats is 226 mm. In general, it feels like the dimensions inside the car have been thought out. The seats are comfortable, the headrest follows the lines of the body and is friendly with the back of the head when standing in a traffic jam. The distance from the floor to the rear sofa is 345 mm, and from the floor to the top of the front seats is in the range from 276 to 310 mm. The distance from the floor to the steering wheel (since it is adjustable) is from 450 - 528 mm.

What is more important: design or filling?

Design is an important point when choosing a car. It is the appearance that many people pay attention to first, after which they consider the engine compartment contents, driving properties, practicality and other qualities of the vehicle.

The car with the SV Cross prefix was created taking into account the characteristics of Russian roads and is characterized by high ground clearance, cross-country ability, and reliability. The prototype of the Lada Vesta Cross is a station wagon, which was used as the basis. These models have similar design and characteristics, while Vesta SV Cross is distinguished by its personal individual characteristics.

One of them is the internal design of the transport. The bright, contrasting and recognizable style of the Lada Vesta in the model with the Cross prefix has become even more expressive and acquired a number of innovations.

It is distinguished by poorer colors, for example, the SW station wagon does not have orange. Otherwise, the interior of the station wagon is similar to the cross.

Why is the white Lada Vesta attractive?

This body shade is called the safest object in the kaleidoscope of objects flashing on the road, since it does not blend into the terrain, does not irritate or distract. The driver of the “glacier” Lada Vesta is a conscientious, honest and balanced person. This color is a symbol of purity, innocence and chastity, which makes others feel comfortable.
