In 2022, AvtoVAZ presented an all-terrain station wagon, and in April 2018, the Vesta Cross sedan. Both cars feature striking designs, all-terrain exteriors and increased ground clearance. Engineers also modified the chassis of the cars, improving their driving characteristics. Let's start the review with the all-terrain station wagon.
In late August 2015, at the international exhibition dedicated to SUVs, crossovers and all-terrain vehicles then held in Moscow, the concept of the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon and its photo were officially presented. To turn an ordinary sedan into an all-terrain version, the designers made over 300 changes to it (the sedan concept appeared the next year).
The presentation to the public of a promising prototype of the Lada Vesta SV Cross Concept station wagon at the Moscow Off-road Show was carried out jointly by the chief designer of AvtoVAZ, Steve Mattin, and the already former president of the company, Bo Andersson. The base of the station wagon was borrowed from the sedan, but it is noted that 320 changes were made to the design of the concept, as can be seen in the photo of the Vesta Cross (see below). To the credit of the automaker, the serial all-terrain station wagon, as well as the future sedan, which received the official name Lada Vesta SW Cross and presented in the summer of 2022, is not much different from the concept (see photo).
Initially, the start date for production was called September 25, 2016, the start of sales was autumn 2016, and at the Moscow Motor Show, rumors about a postponement were confirmed. As a result, production began in September 2022, and sales began on October 26 . The price for the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon starts from 755.5 thousand rubles for the basic and so far only Luxe package. Both the station wagon and the sedan do not have all-wheel drive .

For this version, which includes side airbags, a climate control system, rain and light sensors and a heated windshield, 17” alloy wheels and a hill start assistant, they will ask from 756 thousand rubles (the price of the Vesta Cross sedan will be slightly below) . “Multimedia” package , offered for 780 thousand rubles , includes a multimedia system with a 7” touch screen and navigation, as well as a rear view camera. The most expensive package is “Prestige” (from 823 thousand rubles ), among other things, it includes LED interior lighting, tinted rear windows and a central armrest.
The price of the most expensive Lada Vesta SV Cross station wagon reaches 848 thousand: for this money the buyer receives a 1.8 liter engine paired with a “robot” in the “Luxe” configuration with the “Prestige” package.
In total, 10 colors are available for the Vesta Cross, both sedan and station wagon, but you will have to pay an additional 12 thousand for metallic, and 18 thousand rubles for the Carthage color. Orange “Mars” is an exclusive color for the crossover version of the station wagon.

The issue of cost was the cornerstone, for a long time everyone was just guessing and guessing. Taking into account the price of the sedan, one could also assume the price of the Lada Vesta Cross - a cost of less than 610-630 thousand rubles is hardly possible. True, for this money the buyer will receive an almost “naked” station wagon. According to the president of AvtoVAZ, the price for the top version of Vesta Cross (as in all official photos) will exceed 800 thousand rubles. At that time, a final decision on the cost had not been made, and the price of Vesta Cross could fluctuate significantly, including depending on the technical characteristics. However, in reality, AvtoVAZ has abandoned the initial and middle versions and offers only the maximum Luxe package (from 755.9 thousand rubles ) with a set of packages. If the company decides to produce an all-wheel drive Lada Vesta Cross 4x4 station wagon, then the price for it will obviously be higher than 950 thousand rubles, which is probably why we will only see a single-wheel drive version for now.

While developing the station wagon's interior, AvtoVAZ added a number of new options that were previously absent in the Lada family. a full-fledged armrest appeared between the front seats in combination with a small internal box for small items. The armrest installed on sedans is intended exclusively for the driver; there is no box in it; in addition, owners complain about problems with the locking mechanism. In addition, the front seats of Vesta SW Cross are heated with three stages , the rear seat is also heated - the power buttons are located behind the central armrest. Plus, there is a 12-volt outlet and a USB port for rear passengers.
Compared to the sedan, the rear passengers of station wagons have 25 mm of additional headroom, and the rear seatback can be folded in either a 2/3 or 1/3 ratio. Among the external features, it is worth noting 17-inch wheels (in rich trim levels).
Trunk
The station wagon is distinguished by excellent organization of the luggage compartment: the rear seats can be folded in a ratio of 60/40 , resulting in 825 liters of volume ( or 480 liters when not folded out). All cars from the Vesta family, including the all-terrain station wagon, will have the same range of engines: the base 1.6 liter with 106 hp. and the most powerful VAZ power unit – 1.8 liter with 122 “horses” .
Gearboxes will be represented by both a “robot” made in Tolyatti and conventional mechanics, just like on a sedan. Moreover, only a manual transmission will be combined with the 1.6 engine; the “robot” is available only with the older 1.8 liter engine.
All trim levels will feature disc brakes at the rear instead of drum brakes. all-wheel drive on the Vesta SV Cross in the near future. Pseudo off-road performance is ensured by high ground clearance (203 mm, which is more than Renault Duster!) and plastic lining around the perimeter of the body.

Initially, only front-wheel drive cars with increased ground clearance will be produced; the production of a version with 4x4 all-wheel drive is still a big question.
