The Lada Vesta Cross sedan concept was presented at the Moscow Motor Show.
In 2022, AvtoVAZ presented an all-terrain station wagon, and in April 2018, the Vesta Cross sedan. Both cars feature striking designs, all-terrain exteriors and increased ground clearance. Engineers also modified the chassis of the cars, improving their driving characteristics. Let's start the review with the all-terrain station wagon.
In late August 2015, at the international exhibition dedicated to SUVs, crossovers and all-terrain vehicles then held in Moscow, the concept of the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon and its photo were officially presented. To turn an ordinary sedan into an all-terrain version, the designers made over 300 changes to it (the sedan concept appeared the next year).
The presentation to the public of a promising prototype of the Lada Vesta SV Cross Concept station wagon at the Moscow Off-road Show was carried out jointly by the chief designer of AvtoVAZ, Steve Mattin, and the already former president of the company, Bo Andersson. The base of the station wagon was borrowed from the sedan, but it is noted that 320 changes were made to the design of the concept, as can be seen in the photo of the Vesta Cross (see below). To the credit of the automaker, the serial all-terrain station wagon, as well as the future sedan, which received the official name Lada Vesta SW Cross and presented in the summer of 2022, is not much different from the concept (see photo).
Initially, the start date for production was called September 25, 2016, the start of sales was autumn 2016, and at the Moscow Motor Show, rumors about a postponement were confirmed. As a result, production began in September 2022, and sales began on October 26 . The price for the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon starts from 755.5 thousand rubles for the basic and so far only Luxe package. Both the station wagon and the sedan do not have all-wheel drive .

It is quite difficult to talk about competitors in this case. This is due to the fact that the car has rich equipment and a relatively low cost. Lada Vesta SV Cross 2018 (test drive video below) is considered with the following models:
Some of them have a similar cost, others are much more expensive. However, many pay attention specifically to the offers of foreign manufacturers, since the Lada offer is characterized by less reliability. The domestic automaker will invest quite a lot of money in the development of a new car, making it modern and competitive.
Transformation of the luggage compartment
“Organizer on wheels” is the best compliment for a car of this class. A double trunk floor, many niches and fasteners for a wide variety of cargo, a folding seat back - every detail of the LADA Vesta SW Cross speaks of the practicality of a family car. The volume of the luggage compartment is 480 liters (up to the curtain shelf), and with the second row seats folded - 825 liters (up to the window sill line).
At the right angle
And here I am for the umpteenth time licking my lips at the new VAZ station wagon, and even with increased ground clearance. These marketers are strange people. They attract consumers with teasers of prohibitively expensive cars, as if not knowing that they will be bought solely as a tribute to fashion or prestige. And the “inexpensive” buyer of practical, business models is kept in the dark. Yes, even if they hinted about plans to release Vesta SW, a virtual queue would immediately line up for it. As a result, the Soviet principle of “eat what they give” worked. The expectation that they will buy the car anyway? Risky, if not futile. If previously a station wagon would have had to wait one way or another, today there is a choice, and a potential buyer can even take it the day before the premiere and run to a competitor. With our purchase, we at least remained within the “framework” of the brand. Although they also looked towards other tempting offers.
Was it worth it to “fence” another station wagon with the “Largus” that had existed for several years? Controversial issue. Still, the two models have very different consumer audiences. “Largus” is for those pragmatists who are not interested in design at all. “Vesta” is for connoisseurs of the elegant, those who like to decorate everything that surrounds them. I am sure there will still be many disputes regarding the execution of individual parts, as well as the quality of the car, but even irreconcilable opponents agree that this is a design. In my opinion, there is nothing to criticize the appearance of the “cross” Vesta for at all. A sporty, fast body, somewhat akin to the “barn” SAAB 9-3. Soon the Largus should also receive a front stylized like Vesta.
But people say “don’t drink water from the face.” In the Vesta salon there are much more reasons for criticism and nit-picking. Yes, the interior here is much more modern and attractive than the Largus one, and there’s no need to talk about the Ladas of yesteryear. But once you start looking at Vesta more closely, complaints immediately appear.
The interior materials are “budget”, plus, unfortunately, the build quality is not the best in some places. For example, in the test Vesta the steering column levers were loose, especially the left one. The numbers on the orange scales of the instruments are not the best to read, and in general the scales resemble lambrequins on the windows of long-range trucks. But someone worked on the design, thought through it, offered options... At the same time, there is an alternative, and more than one: fully digital instrument panels have long been developed, not only perfectly readable and extremely functional, but also with the ability to change the design using connected smartphone with the corresponding application downloaded.
Such panels are not cheap. Yes, we are talking about three tens of thousands of rubles. But if we start mass production of these devices, they will become cheaper. Surely owners of Vest from earlier years of production will also want to install the products they like.
The car, produced since 2017, is improving before our eyes. Now the interior has an additional courtesy light. The buttons on the steering wheel and transmission mode symbols shine with an internal light. The multimedia system screen is relatively small and dim, but it is color and touch-sensitive. And the round control knob underneath is logically responsible for the sound volume, and does not serve as a multifunctional joystick, as in the Xray. My wife never gets used to it and, wanting to make the music quieter or louder, constantly switches tracks.
The Vesta has exactly the same climate control panel as the Xray, but here it is located at the right angle, and the symbols on the mini-display are clearly readable. In Xray, the electronic content of the device “shines through” them. In general, Vesta offers a much more “airy” interior than VAZ’s pseudo-crossover, and the view from it is better. And if you climb inside with a tape measure, you will find that in all directions of measurement, the Vesta interior is superior to the Hyundai Solaris interior, although not by much, by 1-2 cm.
The seats in the “Vesta” look more prominent than in the “Solaris”, but when landing you don’t feel this; in the Korean model they are more “grippy”. Plus, the VAZ station wagon pampers rear riders with heated outer seats of the sofa and one USB connector for all to recharge gadgets.
According to the official Lada website, the slowest Vesta SW Cross is with a 1.6-liter VAZ engine and a manual transmission. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 12.6 seconds. The version with a 1.8-liter engine and a manual transmission does this in 11.2 seconds, and the version with a Nissan engine and a CVT does it in 12.2 seconds.
There is no great benefit from folding the back of the rear sofa, even in parts, in the sedan, so this option in Solaris is implemented purely formally, for show. What immediately catches your eye is how much higher the rear surfaces of the folded backrests are than the false trunk floor. In Vesta with the SW prefix, everything is done efficiently and logically. The surface of the “single” cargo space has a flat floor, which is provided by two removable organizing containers - see photo. True, these same organizers are made of foam plastic; if plastic were used here, there would be a little more space in them. By the way, they are also placed on the raised floor panel. In all this there is a sense of practicality and thoughtfulness of solutions. While in the Korean sedan, absolutely non-functional “foam” bars are glued to the false floor of the trunk on the lower side.
In terms of organizing space for luggage, Xray repeats Vesta, but, so to speak, in miniature. However, although the maximum length of the “hold” in it barely exceeds 150 cm, my wife and I managed to organize a sleeping place for two during our trip. How much more spacious it would be in the Vesta station wagon, because in it this figure is more than twenty centimeters larger.

LADA Vesta is an opportunity to choose a power unit in accordance with your individual driving style and dynamics needs. 1.6l + “mechanics” is an economical option. 1.8l + “mechanics” - a solid supply of traction! 1.6L + automatic transmission – smooth movement and confident acceleration! Interior
If the car in question attracts attention from the outside, the inside is quite simple. Among the features of the salon, we name the following points:
- The basic version is equipped with a steering wheel with control units and massive lower support. The steering wheel looks modern and beautiful.
- The instrument panel is represented by an analog design, which is made in the form of three wells. This design style is typical of sports cars.
- The central tunnel is made in a rather simple style. It is represented by a combination of a multimedia system display and several control units. It is the simplicity of the design of this element of the interior that repels many buyers, since when a large number of options are combined, the car interior does not look worth the money.
- The tunnel between the seats is also practically not used. It is made using cheap plastic.
- There is a small armrest, which should significantly increase comfort in the cabin. It is made from high-quality leather and has stitching along the edges.
- The seats have a simple design, lateral support is weak. When finishing, textiles or other wear-resistant material can be used.
- You can find several colors in the salon. The option presented in a combination of black and orange looks very unusual.
- The back row is represented by a three-seater sofa, which can be divided if desired. Individual seats are characterized by high comfort. If desired, you can fold the backrest.
In general, we can say that the salon in question is characterized by high practicality and average quality of finish. Even the expensive version does not use high-quality leather.

Lada Vesta Cross has an ergonomic interior. After restyling, it received the following changes:

The interior decoration is made with high-quality materials. The seats are upholstered in durable, wear-resistant material. The front seats have changed slightly. This did not affect their comfort. When a Lada Vesta car performs maneuvers at high speed, passengers feel weak lateral support.
The Lada Vesta interior is decorated with designer chrome inserts. They decorate the door panels, steering wheel, front console, and gear knob. Among the shortcomings, it is worth highlighting poor sound insulation. When the car is moving, noise is felt.

Price of Lada Vesta Cross in 2022 and description of configurations
There are no plans for a sharp increase in the price of the Lada Vesta Cross in 2022. Last year's price list is still unchanged on the official Lada website.
So, Vesta Cross will have the same prices for different trim levels as last year. The base price of the Lada Vesta Cross station wagon in 2018 will start from 770,900 rubles for the LUXE package. In this version, the buyer receives a car with all the necessary options and safety, on a manual 5-speed gearbox with a 1.6 liter engine.
For the 1.8 engine with the same set of options and gearbox, you will have to pay an additional 25 thousand rubles to the starting price of the 2018 Lada Vesta Cross.
But the next configuration is already more interesting from the buyer’s point of view, but not from the budget. For 798,900 rubles you will get the Luxury package with a 1.6L engine and manual transmission, but with a multimedia package. Those. Instead of a standard audio system, your car will have a multimedia complex with navigation and an LCD display.
The next most expensive is the 1.8 liter robot in the Lux configuration. The price for this version of the car will start from 820,900 rubles. I would not recommend buying this package, since the robot on the Lada Vesta Cross proved to be not the most successful box.
