VAZ presented the characteristics of its new cars for 2022 - Vesta universal. This model will be released simultaneously in two versions SV and SV Cross - that is, standard and off-road. Domestic-made cars will go on sale this fall.
The developers promise that this model will be a real breakthrough for the Russian market. In this body type, the Lada Vesta SV, the photo of which is presented below, will be next in price after the sedan of the same model. The current generation of Vesta is selling well on the Russian market, and after restyling it has every chance of becoming a real bestseller.
LADA Vesta Cross. Created to be unique
LADA Vesta Cross: the classic silhouette of a high-speed sedan and the cross-country ability of a confident crossover. There is real beauty in the harmony of contrasting design elements. And true practicality lies in the combination of comfort, speed and readiness for any situation. LADA Vesta Cross was created by engineers who understand the conditions under which the equipment operates. Therefore, the car has a ground clearance of 203 mm - one and a half times more than the average sedan.
Start of sales and cost
The release of the Lada Vesta SV Wagon series in the new version should start in the summer of this year, and the start of sales is planned for the fall. The standard model should be the first to hit the market, followed by the off-road model within a month. Serial production began on September 11. The price of the station wagon is higher than that of four-door models. The sedan today costs 545,900 rubles, and the SV Cross is much higher, as it has improved equipment. The price of a car starts from 755,900 rubles, depending on the configuration, which includes the choice of engine, transmission (automatic or manual) and package. The cost of SV starts from 639,900 rubles. Also, the cost may be higher due to the color of the body.
Multimedia system

Unification
The fourth plus is unification. In most parts, components, and body panels, the Cross is identical to the regular Vesta, and in some (body kit, interior) it is identical to the SW Cross station wagon. The suspension is also the same, with the exception of slightly shorter rear springs, which carry less load compared to “universal” springs. By the way, the sedan is more comfortable than the station wagon, not only because it is stiffer and quieter, but also because it is less sensitive to road irregularities.

The most spacious cabin in the class
The spacious interior is what you need for city trips and long journeys! Every detail has been thought out in the interior - from driver's seat adjustments to new, more comfortable cup holders, from a cooled glove box to heated all seats. All LADAs of the Cross line have a two-color interior: gray or orange inserts emphasize the optimistic character of the car.
Disadvantages of the trunk
And even despite the fact that Vesta SV is the leader in its class in terms of length, several main disadvantages of the luggage compartment can be identified:
- High threshold, making it difficult to load and unload heavy objects. In addition to inconvenience, such a protrusion most often becomes deformed, taking on the blows of oversized loads.
- Insufficient rear door seal. This problem does not occur in everyone and not always, but it still occurs. It appears during intensive washing; water gets into the luggage compartment, since the sealing rubber does not fit tightly to the body.
Of course, the specific owner may not notice these disadvantages, but they are found in the reviews of some drivers.

Ground clearance for a regular Vesta
What is the ground clearance of the Lada Vesta? Keeping in mind the quality of domestic roads, AvtoVAZ engineers, when designing the Vesta model, which became a revolutionary breakthrough for Togliatti designers, planned its ground clearance of 171 mm when loaded. But, these parameters were stated based on 16-inch wheels, but in fact, the installation of 15-inch wheels is now practiced, so Vesta’s ground clearance turned out to be slightly less than originally stated.
Of course, high ground clearance has its advantages, especially for residents of the outback who also want to drive modern sedans. But, high ground clearance also has disadvantages that appear during dynamic driving. For example, handling, chassis energy consumption, and ride comfort noticeably deteriorate.
But, the designers of the Lada Vesta managed to find a “golden mean”, bordering between controllability, comfort and maximum ground clearance. The model handles quite well, and at the same time, it can overcome noticeable road irregularities without causing much discomfort to passengers. Increasing the ground clearance of the Lada Vesta is possible with the help of additional spacers, but then the driving characteristics of the car will change greatly.
So the engineers did their best and achieved significant results, which is confirmed by a comparative analysis with famous foreign cars. If we take a car with similar characteristics, then we can note that the Lada Vesta, in terms of ground clearance, is higher than the Nissan Almera, and has almost caught up with the Datsun on-Do sedan, with its 174 mm, which is the leader in this indicator in this class of cars.
