The first Priora rolled off the assembly line in 2007, replacing the VAZ-2110, and the manufacturer immediately began to do everything in its power to maintain increased interest in the new model. The list of trim levels gradually expanded, and the cars received new options and decor.
Numerous tuning studios did not lag behind, experimenting on the Priora’s body, offering their own versions of a plastic body kit. Over the years, modifications entered the market in the form of hatchbacks, station wagons, sedans, the bi-fuel Lada Priora CNG, the sports Priora Sport, the extended Priora Premier and even the Priora Coupe were prepared, for which AvtoVAZ had to develop over 150 original parts and assemblies from scratch, to install them on the basic five-door hatchback that came in the Lux configuration.
To the best of their ability, the Togliatti people developed the model, so there was a moment in its history when Priora was able to obtain a domestically produced robotic gearbox. This happened in September 2014, when the first experimental “robots” began to be installed on sedans, created on the basis of a standard mechanical five-speed gearbox, but with electric actuators and an electronic control unit borrowed from ZF. The experiment did not end entirely successfully: starting next year, Priora returned to the usual mechanical “boxes”.
According to the Togliatti engineers themselves, for its time this car was very successful and was in good demand, thanks to which it actually helped the company avoid bankruptcy. But there is no doubt that Priora was “sentenced” by the release of new VAZ models - more modern, comfortable and safe, i.e., which greatly changed the previous perception of the brand. The sharp drop in Prior sales in Russia as a whole was the “bell” that prompted AvtoVAZ managers that the project needed to be closed.

Lada Priora is a modernized family of VAZ 2110 models, which appeared back in 1998. The first in the line was the VAZ 2170 sedan - its production started in 2007. Then Priora acquired modifications in hatchback and station wagon body styles.

At the same time, the profile of the car remained almost unchanged. And although the automaker claims that a total of 950 changes were made to the design, they cannot be called significant on the exterior. The sedan's exterior uses the same bio-design that Korean cars of the nineties gravitated towards.
Compared to its predecessor, the dimensions of the car remained virtually unchanged. The overall length of the Priora sedan is 4,350 mm (wheelbase - 2,492), width - 1,680, height - 1,420. Ground clearance (clearance) is 165 mm, and the trunk volume is 430 liters.
To develop the interior, VAZ employees resorted to the help of Italian specialists. The soft plastic dashboard has become less archaic, the center console looks meaningful and sports a silver aluminum trim. The new steering wheel and dashboard have become more modern.

In the summer of 2014, it became known that the Lada Priora car would remain on the assembly line until the end of 2022, despite the fact that in the fall of 2015 it was replaced by a completely new model - the Lada Vesta. Thus, for several years both cars will be produced in parallel.
But before the end of 2014, Priora will undergo another modernization, during which it will receive a modified front bumper and head optics, other interior materials, as well as a heated leather steering wheel.
In addition, the updated Lada Priora 2022 will acquire a modernized suspension with gas-filled struts, a negative camber angle of the rear wheels and new stabilizers. Plus there will be a larger vacuum brake booster and other pads, as well as improved sound insulation and door mechanisms.
In September 2014, AvtoVAZ presented the Lada Priora with a five-speed ZF robotic transmission, which will be offered only for cars with a 1.6-liter 106 hp engine.
Production started in early September, and sales began on October 25 at a price of 473,900 rubles. From zero to hundreds, a sedan equipped with a robot accelerates in 11.0 seconds, and the maximum speed reaches 185 km/h. Average fuel consumption in the combined cycle is stated at 6.9 l/100 km.
