In fact, the very appointment of Bu Inge Anderson as the head of our auto giant during a difficult time for AvtoVAZ was associated with improving the quality of its products. The further course of events showed that fundamental improvements had taken place, starting from the design and interior equipment of the cabin and ending with the build quality of the car, which were most fully manifested in the Vesta model.

And the current 6-year warranty on painting is not so much a marketing ploy, but the fact that the eternal domestic problem of protection against corrosion and poor quality of body coating has been overcome. If the first problem in the West is solved by galvanizing bodies, dipping them into molten zinc, then AvtoVAZ decided to go its own way and is trying to protect the body with a cathophoresis primer.

Of course, 6 warranty years is not 15, like Swedish ones, or 20 years, like some German cars, but this is good by our standards, or, as they say, it’s nothing more than the beginning. However, cathophoresis is actually cooler than banal galvanizing, since it is an electrochemical process of attaching a substance to the metal that performs protective functions.

As for the body painting, on Vesta it occurs immediately after the cathophoresis primer and its stages are as follows:

The first stage begins with applying mastic to all surfaces that are mating with each other and that have seams;
Then comes the stage of spraying mastic - anti-noise;
A primer is applied to the body, which has only two color characteristics - light or dark, depending on the future tone of the body color.
After these procedures, the body enters special painting chambers, where the paint coating is sprayed;
Then comes varnishing, and Vesta’s bodies go into drying chambers for heat treatment of the coating;
But that’s not all, since then come the final touches of polishing and treating the cavities that are in the bodies with special anti-corrosion compounds.

The “Lux” package, which is equipped with the described package of “Lime” options, which includes an exclusively unique body color, is distinguished by rich internal content. The package includes not only an improved interior (can be seen in numerous photos), but also the introduction of a large number of significant amenities (for example, a heated windshield in addition to a powerful air conditioner, a convenient radio for working with different media formats, parking sensors, an advanced security system with side cushions and cushions for rear passengers).

The technical characteristics are also encouraging: under the hood of the Lada Vesta “Lime” at the moment there is a 1.6-liter engine with 106 horsepower that is quite good in terms of performance (in the future it will be possible to install a 118-horsepower engine from Nissan and a 123-horsepower engine from VAZ) . There are also opinions that everything depends not so much on the paintwork, but on the quality of the metal itself. Like, VAZ “kopecks” did not “rot”, but now, no matter what you cover, the bodies still “bloom”, despite all the “crap” such as cathophoresis, anticorrosion agents and galvanizing.

Some enter into a discussion with those who had everything that was before, which was certainly better and say that they had never used such “crap” on the roads as reagents for ice and snow before. Like, look, now even at minus 10, the roads are wet, just like at above-zero temperatures.

So they protect the bodies whatever comes to hand, calling them fundamentally new levels of protection, although judging by the well-known expression, the new is nothing more than the forgotten old.
