Engine

Almost every owner would like to drive a more powerful and dynamic car. The weakest version of the Lada-Grant, the liftback, develops only 87 hp, and the most powerful engine version has a power of 106 hp, which is also unable to provide decent dynamics to the car. You can make the power unit more playful without serious intervention in the design of the unit in the following way:

1. Installing a zero resistance air filter. For these purposes, a “nulevik” filter is used, through which more air can be supplied to the cylinders. Thus, it will be possible to slightly increase the power of the unit.

In addition to the listed engine upgrade options, you can install an electronic gas pedal. This element will ensure the most accurate response of the power unit to pedal pressure. New versions of such elements have an additional module that allows the driver to select the desired driving mode.

With a more serious approach to modernizing the Lada-Grant engine in the liftback body, you can install a turbocharger, forged pistons and bore the cylinders. If you listen to the recommendations of experts, then such modifications must be carried out comprehensively, since equipping the car with only a turbine can lead to damage to the pistons as a result of the increased load. Also, if you install only forged elements, then there will be no increase in power.

Chassis

In addition to engine modifications, the vehicle's chassis (suspensions, levers, etc.) can also be modernized. The model in question has a soft suspension designed for driving on good roads. Any changes to the suspension can make it stiffer, which will have a positive effect on handling, but at the same time reduce comfort. Changes can be made to the rear suspension by reducing the number of spring coils by exactly one. To give the body rigidity when cornering, you can install strut extensions on the front end, the same as on the Kalina.

To lower the Granta liftback suspension, you can choose one of the following methods:

• replacing the suspension with a design with variable ground clearance. In this way, the shock absorbers are given autonomous rigidity. In summer, the car can be lowered and raised in winter;
• Replacing the standard suspension with a new one with a lower landing. In this case, an appropriate set of springs and shock absorbers is selected;
• installation of low profile tires. This option allows you to reduce the seating position and improve vehicle handling;
• equipping a car with lowered springs without replacing shock-absorbing elements. This option will only be suitable for city driving.

In addition to the above modifications, you can make the following changes to the suspension:

• install triangular levers, which will increase the rigidity of the unit, ensure the base is raised up to 3 cm and make it possible to adjust the caster in the range from 1 to 4° in negative values;
• install a subframe. The element will add rigidity to the body, the suspension will receive more powerful mounts, the engine will have additional protection, the wheelbase will increase by 15 mm, and the likelihood of the front end diving during braking will be reduced;

If we consider changes to the brake system, the simplest tuning option is to replace the standard brake discs with larger ones. In this case, when installing R14 wheels instead of standard R13, no modifications will be required.

Foreign-made brake pads can be installed together with the discs. Discs on the Lada-Granta liftback can be installed, for example, by Brembo (article: 09.8903.75), and pads - by Fiat (article: 13.0460–2813.2).
