How to choose high-quality shock absorbers for Lada Vesta?

The domestic car Lada Vesta has many good reviews. The car has good ground clearance, which is important for our roads. It has excellent sound insulation and maneuverability. But in a barrel of honey, as they say, there is a fly in the ointment. Over time, extraneous noise arises: a knocking sound in the rear of the suspension system.

Plant specialists admit this fact and say that the reason is the shock absorbers on Vesta. The solution to the problem is simple: you need to choose the right washers of the right size for the front strut supports. Or rebuild the suspension and replace parts. During the replacement process, you can install original kits or related products.

It is the issue regarding the replacement and installation of analogues that will be discussed in this article. We will touch upon the issue of stands for shock-absorbing elements and announce the timing of replacement of shock absorbers.

Features of Vesta car shock absorbers

The front shock absorbers have the appearance of classic MacPherson struts and have the following characteristics:

Step-by-step process for removing and installing rear shock absorbers

A special feature of the rear suspension of the Lada Vesta is that the springs are attached to the beam separately. This simplifies the process of removing the rear shock absorber to replace it or install spacers.

To replace the rear suspension elements you must:

  1. Remove the rear wheels and jack up the vehicle to a suitable height for work.
  2. Place a SG-1 type rack under the lever and lower the car until the springs begin to compress.
  3. Unscrew the lower and 2 upper fasteners.
  4. Remove the shock absorber.
  5. If it is necessary to replace the bump stops, you need to unscrew the nut that holds the rod and remove the support, buffer and protective boot from it.
  6. Install the new part in reverse order.

How do you know if a shock absorber has failed?

The first sign of a damaged rack will be discomfort when hitting an obstacle.

The lack of proper shock absorption is very noticeable in the cabin. The following signs will help you suspect a malfunction:

  • Unusual sounds from the suspension. They may be constant or occur only during off-road driving;
  • The car's controllability has decreased, the car skids and sways from side to side.
  • The ground clearance has decreased (the car has sank).
  • If the shock absorbers are oil or gas oil, they may leak. The appearance of drips on the racks indicates that they need to be replaced. The leakage of gas struts can be determined by the characteristic hissing sound made by the gas escaping from them.

If you have such problems, you need to contact a service station, where they will carry out diagnostics and find out the causes of the problem. If you have a suitable location and the necessary equipment, you can inspect and identify the problem yourself.

Practical tips for choosing racks

After making sure that the shock absorbers are faulty, the driver needs to select a worthy replacement for the worn-out parts.

Some tips for choosing spare parts:

  • Pay attention to original products, or choose analogues from well-known and well-established manufacturers;
  • Buy parts from large retail outlets that have quality certificates for their products and guarantee their originality. Do not buy spare parts on the market or secondhand.
  • The cost of the shock absorber should not be too low. If the price differs significantly from other offers, most likely you are being offered a low-quality product.
  • The shock absorber must be packaged in a separate box with the article number, catalog number and manufacturer's logo on it. Factory catalog number of rear shock absorbers 2180-2915004-12, front 8450006745 (left), 8450006744 (right).

Cost of shock absorbers for Lada Vesta

Many drivers are interested in the question, what shock absorbers are installed on Vesta from the factory? According to information from official sources, Lada Vesta cars of all modifications are equipped with Russian-made parts. They are manufactured by the Russian company SAAZ (Skopinsky Automotive Aggregate Plant), specially commissioned by AvtoVAZ. These racks are adapted for difficult road conditions and have proven themselves in practice.

If replacement is necessary, the driver can purchase original spare parts that are commercially available. You can also use analogues, which are also widely available on the shelves of auto stores. The cost of shock absorbers from different manufacturers is presented in the following table:

Top 3. GMB 1011-0081

Rating (2021): 4.51

Best price The cheapest stabilizer in our rating. The cost of the rack is almost two times lower than that of its closest competitor.

  • Characteristics

    Average price: 330 rub.

  • Country: Japan (manufactured in South Korea)
  • Stand length (mm): 265
  • OE code: Hyundai/Kia 0K2N1 34 150A

Owners of Korean cars know this Japanese brand well. It produces shock absorbers, stabilizers and springs for popular car brands, but thanks to the standard form factor, their products can also be installed on Vesta. The length of the stand is 265 millimeters. This is the smallest size for Lada. The main advantage here is the best price. You are unlikely to be able to find a product cheaper. Note that even the original AvtoVAZ struts are more expensive, which is a little strange. True, there are often defects here, so before purchasing, carefully examine the product for damage. The weakest point is the rubber boot, which can be torn.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Best price tag
  • Availability in almost all stores
  • Often there is a marriage
  • Virtually unprotected from counterfeiting

Reviews and recommendations from Lada Vesta owners

PositiveNegative
With a mileage of 38 thousand, strange sounds began to arise from the front suspension. It turned out that the racks were rattling and had already exhausted their service life. I decided to replace the original shock absorbers with the manufacturer Acomi. After I ordered on the official website, the manager immediately called back and clarified the details. The parcel arrived in Tula in 4 days, the details are as in the picture, packed in boxes. I’ve been riding the new shock absorbers for a month now, and so far I can’t say anything bad – they cope with unevenness and obstacles perfectly. After replacing the original front struts with Acomi, the car began to handle worse.
With the Saazov struts, it seemed to be more confused; I always knew how the car would behave in a given situation. Now, when cornering, the car sways a little and in a strong crosswind, strange vibrations are felt. The original shock absorbers were still better. On the plus side, I note that the new struts are a little quieter and give a smoother ride.
Three months ago I installed SS20 struts on my Vesta. They are much quieter and softer than their relatives, and they are a pleasure to drive. I go over potholes smoothly, even speed bumps are not a problem. Great product! I recommend! Don't buy Finwhale! This is not Germany, as it says on the box, but the real China. I didn’t even drive 15 thousand on them - they rattled like mad!
In my opinion, the best shock absorbers for the Lada Vesta are Demfi. They are inexpensive, reliable and high quality, although a little harsh. I’ve been driving them off-road and in potholes for the second year now, no problems and the price is very reasonable. For me, not only the service life of the struts is important, but also the comfort of control and in the cabin. The Russian SS20s are very disappointing in this regard, as they are even more rigid than the original ones. Every bump in the road is clearly felt in the cabin. This is despite the fact that I did not choose the sports version, but the softer one. I can imagine how it feels to drive sports models!
I work in delivery, so the factory suspension did not last long. When it came time to change the struts, the guys from the service station advised Demfi. Russian manufacturer, quite reliable and inexpensive. I wanted to buy good racks for a Lada Vesta car. The Kayaba manufacturer was not available; they probably don’t produce shock absorbers for this car yet. The sellers persuaded us to use Trialli. To be honest, they didn't impress me. The car looks like jelly on them, it doesn’t listen well to the steering wheel and it even seems to me that the seating position has become lower. The factory racks were even better.

How to independently replace brake fluid on a Lada Vesta car

Top 4. CTR CLMZ-30

Rating (2021): 4.39

The most popular product is Stabilizer Link, suitable and recommended for cars of more than 10 brands. The brand has enjoyed constant popularity for many years and often takes part in independent tests in various specialized publications.

  • Characteristics

    Average price: 1080 rub.

  • Country: South Korea
  • Stand length (mm): 295
  • OE code: MAZDA BBM2-34-170A

This stabilizer link has the greatest compatibility. But the point here is not that the design has some kind of original form factor, it’s just that it was tested on all these brands. It is not surprising, since the brand is in demand and is one of the leading players in the market. Its shock absorbers, stabilizers and brake modules are constantly included in reviews of such publications as Behind the Wheel and Auto Review. The brand itself also carefully monitors its reputation, but we note that this does not always work out. There will still be defects, and the number of fakes on the market exceeds all imaginable indicators. True, the company tries in every possible way to protect itself from counterfeiting, but scammers do not skimp on copying security measures.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • Popular brand
  • Maximum compatibility
  • Easy to find in stores
  • Very often counterfeited
  • Weak copy protection
  • There are defects and shortcomings

conclusions

  • The shock absorbers on the Lada Vesta have an original design and are not used on other VAZ car models;
  • Factory-installed shock absorbers from the Russian manufacturer SAAZ are of good quality and have a long service life;
  • If replacement is necessary, the buyer can purchase original spare parts or replace them with high-quality analogues;
  • Among all the models on the market, the most popular manufacturers are: SAAZ, SS20, Demfi and Acomi. They offer good quality at an affordable price, as well as a large selection of models with different functional features.
