Many owners of the “ten” are sometimes forced to do suspension tuning. Firstly, to be honest, the quality and service life of the factory suspension struts (especially the front ones, which are more loaded) leave much to be desired. Secondly, the already short-lived racks suffer most from the poor quality of our roads. Thirdly, with a very significant volume of luggage compartment, the “tens” do not have a high load capacity, so the inveterate summer resident and car traveler willy-nilly have to strengthen the elastic elements of the rear suspension.
The main requirements for the shock absorbers of the front and rear suspensions are as follows: ensuring a smooth ride, stability and controllability of the car, reducing body roll during sudden braking, reducing the possibility of the wheel lifting off the road.
As a rule, when tuning, factory hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers are replaced with gas-filled ones - single-tube or double-tube. This allows you to raise the car slightly (increase ground clearance). The vehicle's handling and stability will also improve, since on uneven surfaces, stiffer shock absorbers allow the wheels to maintain contact with the road longer. The downside of such modifications to the car is a slight deterioration in the smoothness of the ride.
When replacing shock absorbers, it is necessary to comply with the characteristics and overall mounting dimensions of the factory shock absorbers and those installed when replacing them. The suitability of shock absorbers is determined using interchangeability tables compiled by manufacturers. The main dimensions of shock absorbers are shown in Fig. 1 and in the table.

On many forums you can often see that people are looking for information about how the VAZ-2108 and VAZ-2110 racks differ. I came across two front pillars that were already coming apart.
Luckily for me, one is from a VAZ-2115, the second is from a VAZ-2110. I knocked the dirt off the racks as best I could and examined them.
What is the main difference? The problem is that the body of the “tenth” rack is shorter than the body of the “eighth” one. I didn’t take the dimensions, I’ll do it later and correct the text - this is for those who are interested. And here is the rod: on the “eighth” the rebound limiter is installed higher on the rod than on the tenth, and at its “own” height. Otherwise the sizes are completely the same.

Front shock absorbers on VAZ 2110, 2111, 2012 are divided into right-hand and left-hand, gas and oil. Replacement and installation of parts
If your garage has an inspection hole, install the car on it. If not, jack up the front of the car and place it on bricks or cinder blocks. Before lifting, don’t forget to put the car on the handbrake and place wheel chocks under the rear wheels!

The procedure is as follows:
- Unscrew the nuts securing the stabilizer struts from the right wheel suspension, then from the left wheel suspension.
- Unscrew the nuts securing the boom brackets on the right and left sides of the machine.
- Remove the complete set with stands.
- Set the original parts aside.
- After this, it is necessary to modify the kit from Priora.
- Take the assembled modified parts, at this point you will need the help of a friend, he will need to help with installation.
- Place the modified rod in place, tighten the nuts securing the brackets until there is no gap in the cushion cuts.
- Tighten the nuts securing the struts until there are no gaps between them and the arms.
- If you raised the machine, only fully tighten all the mounting nuts when the machine is on the ground.
It is necessary to tighten the nuts of the strut with a force of 43-53 N•m, of the bracket - 13-16 N•m.
Refinement of the Priora rod is necessary because the dimensions of the engine compartment of the VAZ 2170-72 differ from the dimensions of the engine compartment of the VAZ 2113-15. When installed, the stabilizer from Priora, without a little tuning, will rest against the edge of the tunnel in which the exhaust gas system pipelines and the gearshift lever pass. When the car moves, this will cause an unpleasant creak and increased wear of the stabilizer struts.
Shock absorber struts on the VAZ-2114, like on any other car, play the role of absorbing unevenness in the road surface, and also take the load of the entire car: cargo and passengers. Therefore they must be strong. The choice of struts should be treated carefully, since it depends on them whether the car will be hard or soft, and how loud the potholes will be, of which there are plenty on our roads.

How to lower the Priora correctly
There are several ways to lower the landing position on the Priora. Each of them is worth dwelling on in more detail.
Air suspension
Air suspension is considered one of the best, but at the same time expensive, ways to lower a car. The driver can raise or lower the car body as necessary. In addition to the high cost of such equipment, the work must be carried out by specialists who understand the electronics and chassis of the car. Therefore, most Prior owners prefer less expensive methods of undervaluation.
Suspension with adjustable ground clearance
The Priora can be equipped with a special adjustable suspension kit. Height adjustment is carried out by means of struts, and springs with a selected lowering (-50, -70, -90) are compressed or stretched. Thus, the car can be raised for the winter and lowered for the summer. The springs that come with the kit are highly reliable and are designed to constantly change in length. The set in question consists of the following elements:
- front and rear springs;
- screw-adjustable struts and shock absorbers;
- front upper supports;

The procedure for implementing such a kit comes down to replacing the standard suspension elements with new ones:
- Remove the rear shock absorbers along with the springs.
- We install an adjustable shock-absorbing element.
- We adjust the suspension height with special nuts, choosing the desired lowering.
- Similarly, we change the front struts and make adjustments.
Lowered suspension
This method of lowering the suspension is less expensive than the previous one. It involves purchasing a set of shock absorbers and lowered springs (-30, -50, -70 and more.). The disadvantage of this kit is the impossibility of adjusting the ground clearance. However, you can install such a suspension yourself. To replace you will need the following kit:
- Demfi -50 racks;

- supports Sevi Expert.
You will also need to prepare the following tools:
- wrenches 13, 17 and 19 mm;
- 17 and 19 mm socket heads;
- breakdown;
- hammer;
- pliers;
- ratchet handle and knob;
- penetrating lubricant;
- spring ties.
Replacement of suspension elements is carried out as follows:
- Apply penetrating lubricant to the threaded connections of the front struts.
- Using sockets 17 and 19, unscrew the fastening of the struts to the steering knuckle.
- Unscrew the ball pin nut and unscrew it.
- Using a hammer and a pry bar or puller, press the ball pin.
- Unscrew the upper support of the rack.
- Remove the stand assembly.
- We install springs and support bearings on new struts.
- By analogy, we change the rear pillars, unscrewing the upper and lower fastenings and installing new elements.
- We reassemble in reverse order.

Low profile tires
One of the options for lowering the suspension of the Lada Priora is to install low-profile tires. The standard tire size for the car in question has the following parameters:

You can cut off more, the car will become lower, but the suspension will practically not work

Which racks for VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112 are better?
What shock absorbers are better to install on the VAZ 2110-2112? It's hard to call the factory struts good for this car. According to technical parameters, they are suitable for average use. But they will not provide the desired efficiency and duration of operation with other styles of operation.
With a calm, even ride on decent city roads, hydraulic (oil) shock absorbers will create the greatest comfort and smoothness. Their main advantage is the price, and the disadvantage is their rigidity in winter. And if the road surface is full of holes, then they will not suit you at all. Gas struts are chosen by those who like to drive fast and off-road (by the way, the ground clearance will increase a little) while sacrificing comfort. The main disadvantages are: cost and increased shock loads on suspension parts and the body. But the golden mean is gas-oil - for fast driving on any roads. They are able to maintain sufficient comfort no matter how you drive the car. But despite all the pros and cons of shock absorbers, they very often use oil rear and gas-oil shock absorbers, or also “oil” shock absorbers for the front suspension

What else should you not do?
However, many of our “VAZ DRIVERS” don’t care at all; I’m already silent about the lowered Priors. When repairing suspension, and in particular replacing struts, many people prefer not to change other elements, even with high mileage.
I personally witnessed when a guy took the KYB struts, came to the service station, and said, “we leave the springs and support bearings (after a mileage of about 80,000).” Simply - HARD! Guys, turn on your brain. Companies do not always have interchangeable parts, even new ones! That is, you cannot take a KYB strut and install a spring from a VAZ supplier, this is no longer correct, and you are installing a new shock absorber on worn parts!
In the best case, the rack will fail in 10 - 15,000, and then this GUY will shout at every intersection that “I installed KYB, such a g..but!”
In the worst case, there is a possibility that it will fly off the road, because the sagging, tired, corroded “coils” will not be able to properly hold the car and dampen the amplitude of body vibrations. Which negatively affects maximum speeds, cornering, and braking. The body will pull more to the sides during maneuvers.
Therefore, the moral is not to save money, we buy a completely new set.
