Appearance
It should be mentioned right away that the basis for the creation of the new Lada Granta Liftback was a sedan car with the same name, already familiar to everyone. These two cars are similar in many ways, however, the new Liftback looks more expressive and brighter than the Sedan, which has a frankly budget-friendly, mediocre appearance. Volga designers and constructors have finally managed to create a car of a completely different level, which already has a pleasant and attractive appearance. Through their efforts, the ordinary appearance of the Sedan was transformed into a more dynamic concept, which quite successfully combined modern design solutions, stylish decorative elements and even a certain touch of sportiness.
The first thing that distinguishes the Lada Granta Liftback from its predecessor is the new configuration of the bumpers, especially the front one. In addition to the long and wide air intake diffuser, on the side edges of the fairing there was room for stylish plastic inserts, in the center of which the pupils of the fog lights are now located. The shape of the front optics has also become more elegant and refined, giving the Liftback a more progressive and fresh look, a more solid and respectable “facial expression”. The long, but narrow, false radiator grille now has a rather expressive chrome strip on which it is mounted. The hood lid has two thin but clearly visible profile stampings, running from the line of the front glass to the edge of the hood. The designers did not load the side surfaces of the body with various stampings, however, below the center line of the entrance doors, rather thick moldings, matching the main color of the body, are clearly visible. The roof line slopes slightly towards the stern, the window line is horizontal at the bottom, with a slight rise at the rear. The most expressive and revised is the rear part of the Lada Grant Liftback.
What's the difference?
Remember, the Sedan of the same name had a rather clumsy door to the luggage compartment, heavy and massive, decorated with stamped “wings” that only spoiled the external impression. In the new product, all these errors were taken into account and corrected to the maximum.
Now the Lada Granta Liftback has a rather neat fifth door, a more logical location of the license plate, located in a special selection of the body. The fifth door now boasts large glass, which provides good rear visibility from the cabin. The stern lighting equipment, represented by rectangular, almost square, marker headlights, has also become more neat and attractive. The rear bumper, in principle, was inherited from the previous Sedan, however, it does not spoil the appearance. It has a small reflective strip in the center. What else gives the Lada Granta its solidity and brightness? Probably a new design for the side mirror housings.
True, turn signal repeaters and mirror housings in the main body color are available only in the top-end configuration. But this already indicates that the Russian auto industry will continue to improve the functionality and appearance of its products. In the top-end configuration, the new Lada Granta is also equipped with modern alloy wheels with a dynamic, sporty design, which makes the car even more interesting. In general, the body of the new product has really acquired a certain dynamic, more aggressive look; it is no longer a “simpleton” from the Sedan family.
Dimensions Lada Granta Liftback
As for the dimensions of the case, the numbers have changed slightly. The size of the wheelbase remained the same, which is equal to 2476 mm. As for the length of the car, it has become 13 mm shorter and is now 4247 mm, with a width of 1700 mm and a height of 1500 mm. The ground clearance is 160 mm, which is quite enough for driving in winter conditions and on slight off-road conditions. The curb weight of the Liftback with basic equipment will be about 1160 kilograms.
Main performance characteristics Grants
The new product has a length of 4246 mm (for the sedan 4260), a width of 1700 mm and a height of 1500 mm. The wheelbase of the liftback is similar to the sedan - 2476 mm, the same situation with the front track - 1430 mm and the rear - 1414. In running order, the Lada Granta in the liftback body has a mass of 1160 kg, and the total weight is 1560 kg. It is the slightly larger mass that makes a car with a five-door body less dynamic, but the difference is a fraction of a second and not a single driver will be able to distinguish the difference. Among the other technical characteristics of the LADA Granta Liftback, it is worth noting the trunk of 440 liters, which can be increased by folding the rear seats up to 760 liters. Let us remember that the liftback is slightly shorter than the sedan, which is why the trunk volume is slightly smaller when the rear seats are folded down. The fuel tank capacity of the new product is 50 liters, the permissible towed load weight is 450 kg, and if the trailer has brakes, its total weight can be up to 900 kg. This information will be useful to all owners of a Grant car, as it will allow them to more effectively plan the costs of operating the vehicle. So:

Much to the regret of many domestic motorists, the changes inside the new product are not as large-scale and dramatic as those on the exterior. Since the wheelbase remains the same, one cannot count on an increase in capacity, although it is not uncomfortable for passengers of average build. The same can be said about the design of the seats in both rows. They were completely borrowed from the previous model, so dreams of increased comfort will have to be put on hold for now.
The only thing that has changed about them is the stitching of the upholstery material, which has become more interesting. And so the interior of the new Lada Grant Liftback can be considered completely transferred from the Sedan. True, the designers still decided to add a new note and offer a slightly modified design of the gearbox selector.
The center console, instrument panel and arrangement of instruments and elements remain unchanged. Naturally, in the top-end configuration, the infotainment screen is now located in the center of the front console. In the same configuration, the interior of the cabin is additionally decorated with silver edging on the door handles and air duct bells on the center console. The rear door panels were also structurally improved somewhat. Regarding the spaciousness of the new product, it was said above; there is definitely no less space here. But the luggage compartment capacity is not so good; it has decreased from the “sedan” 480 liters to the “liftback” 440 liters. If you fold the rear seat backs, you can practically get up to 760 liters of usable space.
Configurations of Lada Grants Liftback
On the Russian market, this development is presented in three main trim levels, already known from the Lada Granta Sedan. These are Standard, Norma and Luxe equipment. According to available information and references from the manufacturer itself, the appearance of a Sport configuration is quite possible in the future. At least the dynamics of the new car's body have the necessary potential for this. In the initial, basic Standard configuration, the car has a height-adjustable steering column, central locking, seats with ISOFix mounting, a front airbag in the driver's seat, daytime running lights combined with side headlights and stamped-welded rims measuring 14 inches . Under the hood, this variant carries a 4-cylinder, 8-valve naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters. Its performance is only 87 horsepower, and peak torque is 140 Nm at 3800 rpm. This engine is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission with cable drive, well known from the Sedan. This configuration is offered at a price of 320,000 rubles.
The more expensive version “Norma” also includes more solid equipment. It offers colorful body-color moldings, black door pillar trims, rear seat headrests, power windows on the front doors, electric power rack and pinion steering, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and fairly high-quality audio. In this configuration, a modified version of the engine from the basic version is installed, also with a volume of 1.6 liters, but equipped with a 16-valve timing system. Thanks to this, engine performance increased to 98 horsepower at 5600 rpm, and peak torque increased to 145 Nm when reaching 4000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The cost of the Norma configuration starts from 350,000 rubles. The most expensive version of the Lada Granta Liftback called Lux, in addition to all of the above, is equipped with the following options: the ability to adjust seat belts in height on the front seats, heated front seats, power windows on the rear doors, electric drive and heated side mirrors, air conditioning without separate controls, multimedia center with a touch display, airbag for the front passenger, fog lights, alloy wheels measuring 15 inches. Here it is already possible to purchase a car with a 4-band automatic transmission of the Jatco type. In this case, the Lada Granta is additionally equipped with parking sensors, light and rain sensors and a directional stability system. The power unit is also more solid here.

Lada Granta Liftback - cost
The flagship is presented with a new product that joined the line of VAZ engines in 2012. This is an in-line gasoline engine with an electronically controlled distributed fuel injection system. The engine power is 106 horsepower when reaching 5000 rpm, and the maximum torque of 148 Nm is achieved already at 4000 rpm. It is the one that is aggregated with both manual and automatic transmissions. In the first case, the price of the configuration is 420,000 rubles, in the second case it is already 478,000 rubles. The maximum speed of the Lada Granta with the luxury configuration is 180 km/h, and the car can reach the control 100 km/h in 11.0 seconds. As for the suspension as a whole, it was also completely transferred from the Sedan design, so it cannot boast of anything new, with the exception of some new settings. The front part of the Lada Granta has an independent suspension based on MacPherson struts, and the rear suspension is represented by a semi-independent torsion beam equipped with helical-type springs. The front axle is equipped with ventilated disc brakes, and the rear wheels are equipped with traditional drum mechanisms. In addition, the braking system received a mechanical parking brake drive.
At the end of the review, we can say that the new Lada Granta still turned out to be more successful and practical than the Sedan, although it is still very, very far from perfection, but there are prospects.
What is the volume of the gas tank
Regardless of the modification of the Grant, the volume of its fuel tank is the same and is exactly 50 liters.
To this amount of gasoline should be added about 2 liters already supplied to the fuel supply system and the fuel filter. As a result, the maximum fuel for Grant will be 52 liters.
As previously noted, the car manufacturer indicates that only 95 gasoline should be used. In turn, reviews indicate that the car drives much more economically with this brand than with the cheap 92. Although critics note that they have no problems with the latter type of fuel - studies have proven that in total, their expenses (albeit insignificantly) , but higher.
