We followed the path trodden by other manufacturers. According to this principle, from the front the car should be recognizable, for example, as a BMW with its “nostrils” or the same KIA with its “tiger nose”. Therefore, the front part of the liftback is almost similar to the flagship Lada Vesta and the Lada X-Ray .

That is, they replaced:

  • headlight headlight units (the layout remains the same, running lights near the false radiator grille, direction indicators at the edges, but the shape has changed);
  • front bumper (now with chrome inserts);
  • false radiator grille, it has become more aggressive;
  • hood, it was raised and the windshield washer nozzles were removed, moving them to the rear edge.

The side part was left virtually unchanged, the shape of the front wings was slightly changed, they were given a more athletic, muscular shape. The wheel arches were fitted with fender liners made of a new material that prevents the ingress of moisture and protects against mechanical damage, such as gravel.

15-inch wheels became available. They have a polished surface and alternate two-dimensional spokes.

The stern was practically not touched. Back in 2014, it was clear that the Lada Granta sedan with its heavy rear looked quite awkward. Therefore, initially it was already possible to buy a Lada Granta liftback with a different rear and a number on the fifth tailgate.

It turned out pretty well and during the facelift they didn’t change the rear part, almost. The topography of the trunk and the bumper were slightly changed, now it has a black trim stylized as a diffuser, and the nameplate with the boat was removed, replacing it with the laconic LADA. The headlight units remain the same.

In general, regarding the exterior, we note the presence of a new color Carnelian (red), bumpers to match the body color. Top trim levels received a trunk lock button and an electromechanical drive.

Interior

The interior of the liftback has changed a little. We removed Grant's unique dashboard and used the front panel from the Lada Kalina. Now there are two round deflectors on the sides and a rectangular deflector in the X-style on the center console. The dashboard layout was left untouched, the tachometer on the left, the speedometer on the right, the on-board computer rectangle between them, but the backlight was changed to white and the Vesta style with radial digitization and orange rims began to be used.

The steering wheel, as before, is three-spoke. There is a deflector on the center console, below there are blocks of the multimedia system, below it there are controls for the heating and ventilation system, and below there are several service buttons. On the central tunnel, we note the updated parking brake lever.

The seats have been changed, this statement applies to the upholstery materials, the lateral support and headrests in the rear seats have been changed, and in a number of trim levels the driver's seat is height adjustable. The transmission remains the same:

  • Manual transmission, five-speed manual VAZ 2181;

In the mechanics and robots, the gear ratio in the main pair was changed from 3.7:1 to 3.9:1, the dynamics increased slightly. Changes have been made to the ATM, a “Sport” mode has appeared, a creeping mode like the Lada Vesta, the noise level has decreased, a different clutch is used.

The chassis is the Gamma 1 platform, which is scary to think how old it is, more than thirty for sure. After the facelift everything is the same. The front axle has an independent MacPherson strut, the rear axle has a semi-independent torsion beam.

Inside, the model has not changed at all, however, we have a full review, so let’s look at every detail. In addition, someone may simply not know what the interior of a sedan looks like. I would like to immediately note the quality of the materials. Compared to Priora, they have become significantly better. There are practically no odors in a new car. By the way, in the VAZ-2170 (Priora), may the owners forgive us, the new car had to be aired out for a couple of weeks before you could start driving it comfortably.

From the driver's seat in the Lada Grant you can easily reach any button, any control, so everything is in order with ergonomics. The only thing that causes some inconvenience is the cup holders, which are located almost under the elbows of those sitting in front.

The instrument panel looks exactly the same: two wells with an on-board computer display in the center, a classic layout. Now the warning lights are not visible until they come on, it even makes the instrument panel look a little empty.

The center console looks quite massive, but the parts on it are conveniently grouped together, which makes it not so bulky. In addition, details from the good old Logan and Sandero are visible here, in the form of air deflectors, and indeed the upper part in general.

The interior contains a sufficient number of different niches for storing small items on the road. This was very much lacking in the company's previous models, even in Priora. A large touch display is installed in the center of the console, which can transmit images from a rear view camera; it will have to be installed later, additionally, with a multimedia system. The radio is equipped with a connector for installing an SD drive. At the very bottom there are buttons to turn the heated front seats on and off.

The rear seat is quite spacious, larger than in Kalina, although formally the cars are in the same segment. Three adults can easily fit here, I must admit that a seat belt for the average passenger is something.

The back of the rear sofa folds in a 60/40 ratio, after which 760 liters of cargo can be stored in the trunk, instead of 440.

Lada Granta is a popular domestic car. This is a budget sedan, which is made on the Kalina platform. At the same time, according to recent research, the car is included in the list of the cheapest vehicles on the planet:

  • Technologies developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance made it possible to reduce the cost of the vehicle;
  • The price of the Lada Granta sedan (or, simply put, VAZ-2190) is objective, because the manufacturer uses fewer parts compared to previous vehicle models - Kalina cars. Lada Granta Liftback 2022 is a new and somewhat modernized version of the popular Russian liftback from AvtoVAZ. The car is one of the Granta modifications, which was previously also produced in a sedan body, and is now also sold in a hatchback and station wagon body. The car is built on the platform of the once very popular Lada Kalina, but at the same time surpassed it in many respects. The first version of the liftback turned out to be a completely modern and stylish car, which attracted the attention of many Russian car owners.

The second generation of this car acquired some changes that affected the appearance and interior trim. But at the same time, the technical characteristics and driving performance of the car remained almost at the same level.

Granta Liftback “Lux”: modification equipment

The cost of the luxury model is slightly higher than the previously described configurations. But at the same time, the owner receives a car equipped for the most convenient operation. Important additions allowed all domestic buyers to receive not just a stylish, but also a practical car. Among the most useful equipment of the luxury version it should be noted:

Exterior

The main innovations of the Lada Granta Liftback 2022 affected its appearance. The new product is designed in the X-style common to this version of this modification, which was borrowed from the popular Lada Vesta. From this car Granta received an updated front bumper with chrome X-inserts, like the Vesta. Therefore, at a quick glance at the front of the car, it can often be easily confused with Vesta. Also, more stylish seats for fog lights appeared on the bumper. The air intakes have acquired a different and more modern form.

From the side, the car remained completely the same as the previous liftback. The only thing is that now it is mandatory to install door moldings painted in body color on all cars. Among the representatives of the first version, there were sometimes cars that were not equipped with this part from the factory.

An interesting feature of the Lada Granta in this body are the updated side mirrors, which in all trim levels are now equipped with turn signal repeaters. Previously, this option was available only in top versions. In addition, according to the manufacturer, now the mirror lenses should become less dirty. But at the same time, the owners of such cars, who also happened to drive the previous version of the liftback, do not notice any significant changes.

The Granta Liftback has also changed somewhat at the rear. They began installing a more compact bumper painted in the body color, at the bottom of which there is a black diffuser trim, giving the car a slightly aggressive look. The taillights have become slightly smaller, but the shape is not too different from the previous ones.

It is noteworthy that with the release of the updated modification, the manufacturer did not install a rear wiper on cars in the “Standard” configuration. The factory claims that due to the shape of the trunk, water and dirt drain from it perfectly. True, more expensive versions are still equipped with this part, as before.

Interior

The interior of the new Lada Granta Liftback 2022 has received some changes, also borrowed from Vesta. This made it more stylish, modern and youthful.

The car received virtually no new security systems. In this regard, it differs from its previous version only in that the top trim levels are now equipped with climate control, cruise control, traction control and stability control, as well as some other functions to ensure additional safety. “Music” in Grant works quite well, but this is clearly not enough for a true music lover. True, the car has excellent capabilities for independent modification. Therefore, for those who value good quality sound, it is quite possible to take a liftback in the minimum configuration, and then independently choose an audio system to suit your taste.

Salon

The first thing you notice in the interior of the new liftback is the X-shaped inserts on the dashboard, which correspond to the general updated concept inherited by Grant from Vesta. Also an interesting and stylish innovation were rectangular deflectors, which are now being installed instead of the obsolete round ones. At the same time, the dashboard itself remained the same, the same as it was once installed on the Kalina. The car function control buttons are located mainly under the audio system. Some car owners find this arrangement a little inconvenient. An interesting new feature was the white backlighting of the dashboard, which replaced the boring and outdated green one for many.

Granta Liftbek seats, according to the manufacturer, have now become more convenient and comfortable. The driver and passenger seats have lateral support, as well as wide headrests. In maximum versions, electronic control functions and heating are available. At the same time, in the basic configurations, everything has to be adjusted manually, as before. In addition, new seat upholstery has made the interior more comfortable. But the feeling of being in an inexpensive and budget car, as before, has not gone away.

Does Granta look cool with Vesta's face? Okay, but how is it better than the old one?

Buyers of inexpensive cars count every penny and do not want to listen to discussions about rising prices: why do we care that localized components are produced using imported equipment and often from imported raw materials?

And how can one not pay attention to the conversations of armchair experts that AVTOVAZ is profiting from consumers and that the red price for Grant is two hundred thousand, maximum two hundred and fifty? In reality, with a price range from 420,000 to 634,000 rubles, the Granta remains the most affordable new car. As of December last year, the Grant family, with the former Kalinas - hatchback and station wagon - joining its ranks, took first place in sales in Russia. You can slander as much as you like, but the winners are not judged - even if they are not chosen for fat.

Heart failure

Granta has changed not radically, but in nuances. In order not to miss any of them, you need to place the old and new cars next to each other. So the sedan, which was almost written off from the editorial service, came in handy!

Granta has been produced since 2011; the editorial machine rolled off the production line in 2012. Its engine is the simplest - an eight-valve engine with a lightweight connecting rod and piston group. The only bells and whistles are air conditioning and electric front windows. An excellent option for checking the extent of progress over seven years of life. We pitted two brand new Grants against the editorial worker - a sedan with a manual transmission and a liftback with an automatic transmission.

Garanta's main problem is its outdated platform. Slurred driving habits, weak steering... You can play with the suspension characteristics, but a miracle will not happen. The restyled car, which only has a couple of thousand on the odometer, has not become any better even compared to the tired editorial sedan, which has more than 100,000 km behind it.

The force on the steering wheel is stepped, there is no feedback, the reaction to the rotation of the steering wheel comes late, the rolls are scary. But the incredible energy consumption of the suspension has not gone away: you can drive away without dismantling the road. Simultaneously with the restyling, AVTOVAZ switched to “plug-inless” 1.6 engines. New pistons will no longer come into contact with the valves in the event of a timing belt break. Welcome to the “non-stick”: the editorial sedan showed us the consequences of a broken timing belt. And the point here is not in saving on maintenance, but in the quality of components. Reliability? It is unlikely that replacing the pistons had any effect on it.

The traction and power characteristics have not changed. The basic eight-valve engine with 87 horsepower is surprisingly peppy - it’s enough for the city. If the car is not heavily loaded, it will not fail on the highway. For trips with the whole family and with a full trunk, it is better to take the 16-valve version with a power of 106 hp - all other things being equal, it is only 15,000 rubles more expensive.

Granta found herself in a privileged position relative to Vesta. I'm talking about the updated robotic gearbox version 2.0 with accelerated gear changes, “creeping” and “winter” modes. For Vesta, such a robot is available only with a 1.8 engine, but it is already installed on the 106-horsepower Granta 1.6. I haven’t driven the robotic Grant yet, but I believe that the gearbox setup is not fundamentally different from the West one - and therefore I won’t dissuade you from this option.

And I drove a car with a classic Jatco four-speed automatic transmission to my heart's content. It is still paired with an intermediate 98-horsepower engine. The Japanese gearbox and the VAZ engine have developed a friendship: delays during switching are minimal, the electronics quickly understand what the driver wants. This is the best power unit from the entire Grant range. But it’s a bit expensive: the surcharge for a robot is 30-40 thousand (depending on the configuration), and for a manual transmission it’s 55-65 thousand. Imported oats are expensive these days! The updated Granta is noticeably quieter, even taking into account the “crickets” that have multiplied in the editorial machine over the years. Improved sound insulation appeared several years ago (our sedan did not get this) - first on cars in top trim levels, and later on all Garants and Kalinas. But restyling also made its contribution. Now there are felt fender liners in the wheel arches, which reduce the level of noise penetrating into the cabin.

Granta Westovna has become prettier! The license plate has moved to the trunk lid, and the stern looks lighter. The combination of a 106-horsepower engine with a manual transmission is the best option for long-distance driving.

The headlight of the updated Granta is visually similar to West's, but the filling is simpler. The low and high beams here are not separated into different sections, but operate from one lamp. There is also an ambush: the base is not HA, but for some reason H19 (they are not interchangeable). You can still look for such lamps, even in Moscow! And they are noticeably more expensive than H4 lamps.

The seats have two-tone upholstery in the Vesta style and a modified profile. It's prettier, but still uncomfortable. There is clearly a lack of lateral support. Adjusting the seat height (a privilege of the luxury version) does not help: you desperately want to sit much lower.

Grant was given a massive hood seal. Without it, the engine compartment is such a disaster that we were even embarrassed to take a photo of the engine of the editorial sedan.

The center console is different only stylistically. The configurations have acquired a clear structure: buyers of cars with bodies of all four types are offered the same set of options. Grante's navigation is no longer allowed in principle.

The automatic is now available for cars in not only Comfort, but also Luxe versions. The stabilization system is available in the top version of Luxe Prestige, and on Grants with an automatic transmission it is also available in the Comfort package.

We got the liftback (this is the most practical and attractive body in the line) with a Jatco automatic transmission and a 98-horsepower engine. The power unit is good - if you don’t mind paying an extra 55,000-65,000 rubles.

Restyling brought Grant the now mandatory ERA-GLONASS system. It was necessary to change the ceiling lamp to accommodate it. Rear passengers are not provided with a courtesy lamp.

The light control unit is the same. Instead of a button for the electric trunk lock, there is a plug, because there is now an electric button on the lid itself. The entire plastic panel was not changed, probably for reasons of economy. And that’s okay: the button is down there or there’s a stub - no one can see it.

Another borrowing from Vesta is the manual transmission lever. The parking brake finally gets rid of the old-fashioned lever.

The old door opening lever looked much cheaper, but was as convenient as possible. You can’t grab a new one with more than two fingers, and you still need to aim! A similar “opener” appears on all new BMWs - the devil, as we know, is in the details. The doors still disappoint with a poor center position lock, and they swing open very wide: in a parking lot you risk damaging the neighboring car.

A subtle nuance: the classic cigarette lighter has been replaced by a socket. Gadgets don't care, but smokers will probably be upset.

Dials with radial digitization are usually criticized, but there are no problems with reading the readings. The central display has become not only more modern, but also more informative.

Before restyling, the shelf above the glove box was open, but is now covered by the glove compartment lid. It didn’t get better: in the absence of a side, things attached to a narrow strip of plastic fall off it.

There are improvements under the bottom as well. For example, they began to weld the rear muffler mount differently.

Pile fender liners are a necessary purchase. It became quieter. On a budget car, even a tiny contribution to noise insulation gives a good effect.

At first, the trunk of the updated Granta seemed tidier, but in reality there are no changes, it’s just that the upholstery pile on the editorial car has become disheveled over the years of use. Special thanks for the electric opening button. She had to wait a couple of years on Vesta and seven on Grant.

Apart from the equal scale of rust, we did not find any differences between the pre- and post-restyling cars.

Didn't dig it out

There are still many untreated diseases. In addition to mediocre handling, the high vibration load is annoying. The shaking is felt everywhere, and idling is more unpleasant than driving - in motion, at least something can be attributed to the curved asphalt. Even if we are talking about the cheapest car, such a problem should cause shame. To drive straight, the steering wheel must be turned slightly to the right - just like on an editorial car with a difficult fate, but the correct wheel alignment. And the young Granta’s gearbox howls more abruptly than the older one! Family heirlooms: some things need to be tweaked, some things will wear in on their own over time. It’s even strange that the door locks on the new Grant work much softer and quieter. —— So why is the new Grant better than the old one? She's prettier. And obviously quieter. The motors are the same, but now “plug-inless”. Chronic problems with handling and vibrations have not been cured, and they create the feeling that a long-familiar product was served in brighter packaging.

I think the situation will fundamentally change in about four years, when a completely new Granta appears on the VO platform. In the meantime, you don’t have to choose - with a skinny wallet. (Za Rulem magazine)

In technical terms, the updated liftback, like Granta in other body variants, has acquired virtually nothing new. The car, as before, is available with eight- and sixteen-valve engines. The power unit, depending on the configuration, can have a power of 87, 98 and 106 hp. It is famous for its reliability and efficiency. Despite the fact that the manufacturer recommends using AI-95 gasoline, the car can run quite well on AI-92.

The only change in the technical characteristics of the Lada Granta was that there are now versions with automatic transmission. It is installed on a car with a 98 hp engine. There is still no reliable and accurate information about how the machine behaves on this machine. But, according to the manufacturer, he managed to cope with the howling and early failure of the manual transmission, which often haunted the owners of the first version of the liftback. In addition, such machines are also available with a robot. But in basic configurations it will only be available with a manual transmission.

Options affecting the characteristics of the Lada Granta car

Speaking about the technical characteristics of the Lada Granta, I would like to talk separately about the existing option packages that the car plant offers for each model variant. There is truly room for activity. From the most minimal to the most luxurious, including climate control, parking sensors with a rear view camera, and a multimedia system with an on-board computer.

Suspension and road behavior

The suspension of the updated Lada Granta Liftback remains the same as its previous version. At the same time, it is characterized by sufficient reliability and low cost. Therefore, most likely, the owners of this car, as before, will not have serious difficulties with this unit.

This car has always been famous for its predictable and fairly confident behavior on the road. At the same time, despite the fact that this is far from an SUV, it has excellent cross-country ability. Therefore, such a Grant is quite possible to drive on minor off-road conditions. In addition, there are many cases where a domestic liftback, like a car in a different body, successfully passed where taller and more passable cars got stuck.

Additional security systems, which are now being installed on this domestic liftback, should somewhat improve its behavior in difficult road conditions. But these changes will not be significant. There is no need to wait for a miracle here. But, despite this, Granta behaves excellently, both in city traffic and on the highway. In addition, drivers note that in icy conditions or snowfall, it is much more comfortable and safer to drive than other cars of a similar class.

Of course, there is no need to talk about the speed characteristics of the liftback. This is not a racing car at all. However, it is simply ridiculous to expect such properties from him. But at the same time, cars equipped with 106 hp engines. and a manual transmission, they can easily compete with some of their classmates. It is for this, as well as its stylish appearance and low cost, that Granta fell in love with numerous young car enthusiasts.

In addition, the Lada Granta in the liftback body, as, indeed, in all others, is extremely economical in any driving cycle. Therefore, like the previous version, the 2022 car is perfect for poor car owners, and not necessarily those of advanced age. The car will most likely be appreciated by various courier services and other organizations. And its stylish appearance, combined with a low price, low fuel consumption and good safety and controllability, will appeal to the fair half of humanity.

Options and prices

Lada Granta Liftback 2022 is offered in car dealerships across the country at a price starting from 421,000 rubles. This is how much you will have to pay for a vehicle in the most minimal “Standard” configuration without installing additional equipment. The car in the maximum luxury version with automatic transmission will cost at least 649,000 rubles. And for a Granta with a robot you will have to pay at least 561,000 rubles. The cars are also sold in “Comfort” and “Club” versions. Despite the fact that this car is quite simple and inexpensive, it has an interesting appearance, a large trunk and pretty good safety and maneuverability for the money. Despite the fact that some skeptics strongly doubt its reliability, and there were not as many innovations as we would like, the first sales already showed that the car was liked by numerous categories of Russian citizens. Most likely, its sales will only grow further. After all, the Granta Liftback 2019 is assembled quite well, many of the significant shortcomings of the previous version have been eliminated, and the service is quite affordable even for residents of the domestic outback. In addition, it has excellent capabilities for independent tuning and modifications, which will appeal to young people and those who prefer to stand out on the road. Of course, it’s too early to talk about the quality of this car, but I sincerely want to believe that everything is not as bad as AvtoVAZ’s ardent opponents say.
