Pros : much better sound insulation of the interior, very large trunk (compared with fiat and shcoda - at least not inferior), running lights - now this is the norm for foreign cars, it’s nice that VAZ took this into account, very decent suspension (a friend drives an Opel, gave him a lift he said it swallows holes great, very soft), they say it’s from Renault Logan, and according to reviews it’s indestructible, I’d like to believe it, especially on our roads.
There is an audible alarm for leaving the ignition key and unlocked doors (and it also beeps when the trunk is open). It's nice that the steering rack is short - it's convenient to turn in small areas.
The appearance is also attractive. The machine works well. There are two airbags (God forbid they will never be needed). There really is a problem with the trunk - if the opening button was not pressed completely, the lock may not close, you have to press the trunk opening button again - more emphasized, then the problem is solved).
I read several reviews about the uncomfortable driver’s seat - I don’t agree, although I have a trip to Belarus in a week, we’ll check there, but when moving 200-300 km I didn’t notice any problems with my back. The air conditioning is nice. The light allows you to clearly see the road both in the dark and in oncoming light.
Cost is one of the important factors - empty Germans are more expensive. and here is an automatic transmission, air conditioning, driver and passenger airbags, ABS+BAS, on-board computer.
Although there are also negative points: Fuel consumption in the city is 11 liters per 100 km. But on the highway the average consumption is 6 liters per 100 km, which is very pleasing; the average consumption on the computer shows 9.2.
The interior plastic is not of very high quality - it gets scratched after being hit by a seat belt. It was not by chance that I mentioned the assembly in the title - when choosing a car, I noticed that the assembly in Izhevsk is crooked - even starting with the gaps of external elements (doors, fenders, etc.), and Togliatti - fully meets the normal level.
In addition, there is a familiar owner of a car service - he says that Izhevsk Grants are pouring in a lot). The windshield washer blades had to be replaced after three months - for some reason they began to wash away dirt poorly, I read somewhere about this being a common problem with Grants. There is one more problem - the tension of the alternator belt, but it does not apply to my model - on all sixteen-valve models, the tension of the alternator belt is adjustable.

Features of operating a car with automatic transmission
The JF414E is configured to mechanically activate only the parking mode, all others are activated electronically. It is not recommended to turn on “Parking” when the car is located on a slope. In this case, you must use the handbrake.
- A pleasant surprise for inexperienced drivers will be the “foolproof” function. If by chance the R position is engaged while moving forward, this will not lead to damage to the automatic transmission. Reverse gear will only engage after the car has come to a complete stop. This function can be useful when the car is stuck in the mud and the driver is trying to get out of the trap by rocking, alternately turning on D and R, back and forth.
- When O/D (overdrive) is turned off, it is displayed on the instrument panel with the “O/D off” light. If it is not lit, the mode is on. It is recommended not to use it when driving in traffic jams and at low speeds, although the manufacturer does not make such recommendations in the operating manual.
- During the cold period, the automatic transmission does not engage gears higher than second until it warms up, so there is no need to switch gearbox modes back and forth.
- When the automatic transmission temperature is above 114 o C, overheating protection is triggered. The “gear” light on the instrument panel lights up, the ECU independently blocks the torque converter even when the “overdrive” mode is turned off. Due to this, the load on the gearbox is reduced, and the temperature of the ATF (automatic transmission fluid) of the box decreases. The situation is not an emergency, and movement can continue.
- In such cases, you need to pry and lift the PRND plastic cover. An unlock button will become available on the right side of the shift lever. If you press it, the selector will move. This can be useful when, for example, you need to roll a car out of a parking lot and the switch is in the “parking” position.
