Thousands of Lada Granta cars with such automatic transmissions have already been produced and everyone is happy with everything!
An automatic transmission cannot be replaced in urban environments, where traffic jams are already a tradition, and you need to switch every minute.
Also, the new Kalina will differ from the old one in its modernized cable-driven gearbox, the operation of which we have already talked about and shown. The new box is distinguished by good selectivity, vibration resistance and reliability.
Comfort and ease of use
Regarding comfort, which car can compete for the championship? The seemingly small and not even very folding Kalina differs from the Priora in its spacious interior. There is a more convenient frontal view and a higher seating position. Rear view mirrors are not easy, which adds convenience to driving.
Otherwise, these cars are equal. By the way, in 2022, Lada Priora became the most stolen car among VAZ cars. Both cars have central locking and an alarm system. But it should be noted that when repairing Kalinas, car repair shops are visited less often than Prioras.
Typically, it is not the body repair that is required, but the repair of the car's electronics. There are a lot of electronics in both cars. The functional version of the configuration is equipped with front and rear windows, climate control, on-board windows, heated mirrors and the driver's seat.

Not a day without sports
Lada Kalina NFR is already more serious. You can not only drive such a car every day, charming others with your sporty image, but also participate in some amateur club races or, for example, use it as a training car. This is also hinted at by the letters in its name, which for a long time remained mysterious to me.
Here, at first glance, it is clear that the car is not simple. You don't even have to look for tiny NFR nameplates on the body! Original front and rear bumpers, a spoiler on the rear door and aerodynamic door sills create a perky combat appearance. But most of all, for some reason, everyone likes the barred “nostrils” cut into the hood.
If we decided to first look under the hood, then we should immediately note that the engine here is more powerful than on the Sport version. Its output reaches 136 forces with the same working volume - 1.6 liters. And the alterations here are also more serious. It is clear that the universal formula: shafts, intake/exhaust and controller has not been canceled.
Both manifolds here, both the intake and exhaust, are original. Specially designed and manufactured by Lada Sport specialists. They have not only an increased flow area, but also an optimized length of pipes to reduce losses.
This is what serious production means! You can’t make such beauty on your knees. With the intake tract everything is simpler; such a riot of shapes is not required here. Usually it is enough to simply move the air intake to the “optimum temperature” zone. Remember what I said about additional ventilation in the engine compartment? It is simply necessary for this. The colder the intake air, the higher the efficiency of the entire power plant.

I can’t say that Kalina NFR will go around Kalina Sport like a standing one, but in fact it is really faster. Thanks to 136 forces, it accelerates to 100 km/h a third of a second faster – 9.2 versus 9.5. It could well have been even faster, but its developers did not experiment with the settings of the gearbox ratios and left the standard main gear - 3.7.
Apparently, in order not to lose maximum speed. But they clearly worked on the gear shift mechanism. If I have already briefly praised the gearbox on Sport version cars, I simply have to note that on the NFR it is simply beyond all praise.
