Review of Lada Vesta SW Cross Luxe 2022: advantages and disadvantages

Review of the Lada Vesta SW Cross car (2019)

I switched to Vesta Cross after an Audi A3 Sportback, purchased in 2011 and covered 100 thousand km. Returning to Lada is a deliberate and rational step. Yes, this step is not very desirable, but I can’t afford more yet.

I also considered Vesta as an experiment - whether our manufacturers have been able to do something better over the past decade, since I had the Lada Kalina. I considered Rio X-Line, Skoda Rapid and Renault Captur as options, but still settled on Vesta.

I bought the car at the end of last year, now the mileage is 8500 km. Let's forget the not very good impressions from warranty repairs and contacting the dealer. I'll write down my usual daily impressions of the car.

1. Paintwork. Yes, it didn’t fall off or break off anywhere, but I realized that after washing, it’s better not to rub it with a rag, no matter how clean it is. It's better to let it dry on its own. A small speck of dust or grain of sand leaves thin white stripes and cobwebs. And when you wash with some kind of Karcher, it is better to give the active foam a chance to work really well before rinsing it off. It’s interesting, but the instruction manual contains a lot of restrictions on washing the car and preserving the paintwork. Maybe I’m getting to the bottom of this, but I haven’t put much effort into washing before.

2. Suspension. When passing speed bumps, the shape of which is created at the behest of a specific person with a shovel, and not according to GOST, the suspension is a little annoying and harsh. But otherwise it is quite comfortable. Swallows everything possible - holes, irregularities, joints. In terms of ground clearance, and the car is not low, there are small errors that occur at high speeds. For example, after 100 km/h, closer to 110-130 km/h, the car begins to float a little. It is especially noticeable when overtaking and returning to your lane. Yes, it’s not critical, in the end everything will stabilize, but a less experienced driver may be a little scared by this behavior.

3. Engine. It exists and it performs its functions, it is quite enough in terms of power, nothing has flowed from it or fallen off over 8500 km of run. On the issue of modernity, yes, compared to global engine manufacturers in terms of efficiency, the VAZ 1.8-liter engine probably still has room to grow, but as an ordinary consumer it suits me. There is one question regarding oil consumption. For 8500 mileage I added 1.5 liters of oil. Is it a lot or a little? From the point of view of operating Audi and Skoda, where I never added oil at all, but only changed it every 15,000 miles, probably a lot. On Kalina, I remember I also topped it up periodically. From the point of view of comfortable operation, during the first 1000 km, when cold, there were slight jerks (dips) when accelerating in second gear and very weak ones in third gear. After 1000 km, everything has stabilized, there are no failures.

4. AMT gearbox. They were scared, negative reviews... But I decided to try, especially since a version with updated firmware was released. I like. Yes, I came across a defective clutch kit, which was eventually replaced under warranty. But before and after this, there are no questions about the work of AMT. And if I were now buying this car from scratch, I would only choose AMT

5. Sound insulation. It's quiet in the car. After 110 km/h a small whistle appears in the area of the side rear view mirrors. During normal operation, the sound of the engine or gearbox does not penetrate the cabin. Let's just say that it was quieter in the Audi, but compared to the Skoda Fabia, the Vesta is much quieter. During frosts, small crickets periodically appeared in the area of the dashboard, but after warming up the interior they disappeared. Currently, somewhere in the area of the lower part of the windshield (in the center), some kind of unscrewed screw periodically quietly rustles through the insides of the plastic. I don’t know what could have come loose and where it is vibrating. It is not very annoying and does not always appear.

6. Ergonomics and comfort. Everything seems to be in its place. The buttons all work and there is no need to reach anywhere. The climate control worked without any complaints during the winter. Heated seats are, of course, available. But this is the first car where it is also in the back row of seats. The family is big, they appreciated it. I don’t know, it’s a tribute to fashion or something, but we love coffee, and here there seem to be special places for cups, but they are not functional at all. In the back row, in the armrest, you can even less use them, but in the front they are shallow and the glasses try to fall out at any turn! Once I was driving alone, carrying two glasses of coffee, it’s good the AMT gearbox, you don’t need to pull the lever. He drove with one hand and held glasses with the other. Now if we have coffee, then only with the navigator.

7. Lighting technology. I was worried about the low beam headlights after the bi-xenon on the Audi, but no, everything turned out to be not so sad. Everything is lit, and it’s quite comfortable to move around at night. I would also like to note the LED interior lighting. As far as I understand, this only comes with the Prestige package. I sat in a simpler configuration, there were ordinary yellow light bulbs. LEDs, of course, look beautiful in the dark on the overhead console and in the buttons on the doors and the USB and heating lights on the back row of seats.

Exterior of the new Lada

The most honest review from the owner of the 2022 Lada Vesta SV Cross. So, I would like to immediately note that the car looks simply great. He does not fade compared to VIP models. Its thoughtful design looks beautiful in traffic. Of course, perhaps people pay attention to the car because the car is relatively new, but it seems to me that even if it becomes familiar to us, it will still attract the attention of others.

The swift appearance of the Lada Vesta SV Cross is harmoniously complemented by every detail. The stylish radiator grille seems to separate the large and beautiful head optics. Fog lights and a massive bumper give the car an aggressive appearance. The hood has a relief, which in tandem with the side ribs looks stylish.

From the rear, the car is somewhat reminiscent of the BMW X1. Beautiful slanted headlights, dual exhaust pipes, extended roof rails, shark fin instead of the old antennas. The 17-inch alloy wheels look very impressive. Uniquely, the front and rear brakes are disc.

Options and prices

Lada Vesta SW Cross the choice of configuration and price is huge, as is the case with ordinary “civilian” modifications. So, let’s take a closer look at the pricing policy for the Lada Vesta 2019-2020 configuration and prices with photos:

  • Lada Vesta Luxe will cost 795,000 rubles.
  • Lada Vesta SW Cross Exclusive is stated at RUB 815,000.
  • Lada Vesta Cross price and equipment Luxe Multimedia 2019-2020 is estimated at 823,000 rubles.
  • Lada Vesta SW Cross Luxe Prestige is presented at a minimum price of 866,000 rubles.

The price of the Lada Vesta in the top modification Luxe Prestige with the SV Cross body is estimated at 891,000 rubles. Presumably the most expensive Lada Vesta will be the Sport version. But, so far there is no reliable information about her. As you can see, the minimum price for Lada Vesta Cross starts from 795,000 rubles.

Lada Vesta station wagon from 2019-2020 in the basic version receives the following list of equipment:

  • Four pillows.
  • Fog lights.
  • ERA-Glonass.
  • Five brake assistants.
  • Full electrical package.
  • Heated front seats.
  • Single-zone climate.
  • Light and rain sensors.
  • Parktronic.
  • "Music" with four speakers.
  • 17 "casting".

Lada Vesta in the “top” configuration additionally receives:

  • Cooled glove box.
  • Front parking sensors.
  • Rear view camera.
  • Cruise control.
  • Multimedia.
  • Navigation.
  • Modern "music".

The configurations of the Lada Vesta also differ in the choice of engines. In the first two versions, two units of 106 and 122 horsepower are offered at an additional cost. The remaining configurations are offered only with the top-end power plant (122-horsepower gasoline).

A prototype of a dual-fuel version of the Lada Vesta station wagon has been created, the preliminary price is set at 700,000 rubles. We've looked at the configuration characteristics and prices; now it's time to start studying the technical features of the machine.

By the way, many probably did not know that the Cross Lada Vesta is less safe than the sedan modification - problems were discovered with the rear side members.

This will be discussed in more detail in the video review.

Interior ergonomics

The spacious and stylish interior immediately catches your eye. A successful color combination, together with the high quality of finishing and materials used, gives the interior of the Lada Vesta SV Cross 2017 solidity. Being in it in no way gives the feeling that you are sitting in a domestic car. The torpedo has a relief, laconic, everything is in its place.

So what I see:

  • the instrument panel stands out - the bright color of the scales looks stylish;
  • The steering wheel is quite pleasant, but not leather, although for that kind of money it could be made so. It is reach adjustable;
  • the touch display is quite good in size;
  • impressive size glove box;
  • armrest where you can put various small things.

Reading some reviews about the 2022 Lada Vesta SV Cross, you can see ambiguous mention of the car’s driving performance. But now let's check everything, let's go.

Reviews and test drive

What reviews from real Lada Vesta Cross owners can you find, what are the owners talking about, are there any problems? Today, reviews of the Lada Vesta SV version or reviews of the Lada Vesta Cross are not very different. After all, they are assembled with the same power unit, moreover, the suspension is identical. Accordingly, whatever problems there will be, they will be similar for both cars.

Reviews from Lada Vesta owners may indicate a weak variator; there is still distrust of domestic automatic transmissions, so it is better to give preference to the good old “mechanics”.

And also reviews of the Lada Vesta Cross will tell you this feature: the top engine, according to the owners, is practically no different from the 106-horsepower one. It doesn’t work the same way, and, in general, everyone agrees on the engines: they are rather weak, especially for a Lada Vesta station wagon, with more weight than a sedan.

As promised, at the end we present a test drive from leading auto experts.

Characteristics of Lada Vesta SV Cross: checking how it drives

The 5-speed manual transmission of this car was a revelation for me. Clutch operation is excellent, gear shifting is easy. Visibility is good, it was achieved thanks to large exterior mirrors, which I didn’t even adjust for myself. I would like to note the suspension, despite the roughness of the road, it handles them perfectly and there are no breakdowns.

The car does not fall over when turning. The wheels respond very clearly to steering wheel turns. The car holds the road perfectly even at 100 km.

What can I say about the dynamics? According to the passport, acceleration to 100 in 11.2 seconds is not the best performance, but you won’t be competing with BMW at traffic lights. The noise insulation was a little pleasing; the cabin is quite quiet and you can’t hear the engine running.

Conclusion

The car is available with two 1.6 liter petrol engines. and a power of 106 hp. and 1.8 l. with a power of 122 forces. There are models with a 5-speed manual transmission and a robotic automatic transmission available to choose from.

Today we are reviewing the 2022 Lada Vesta SV Cross in full luxury configuration. However, it must be said right away that even in the most budget version, the car has everything necessary for safe and comfortable movement: ABS, electronic brake force distribution, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist.

What is the difference between the luxury “Prestige” equipment and the standard and “Multimedia” equipment:

  • rear armrest available only for luxury trim levels;
  • LED interior lighting;
  • rear window tinting;
  • heated front and rear seats;
  • A rear view camera is available from the middle version;
  • The multimedia system is available from the “Multimedia” version.

You cannot ignore the wide selection of car colors. It should also be noted that the interior is decorated in three colors and one of them is always done in the body color.

The variety of colors is surprising, but for each of them, except white, you will have to pay extra:

  • for metallic body paint 12,000 rubles;
  • for the exclusive color “Carthage” RUB 18,000.

Having studied, driven, and looked, I was left with only good impressions. Therefore, my review of the Lada Vesta SV Cross turned out to be somewhat positive. But this does not mean that the Lada Vesta SW Сross is completely free of shortcomings.

Too little time has passed to be able to fully evaluate its technical characteristics and quality. But I hope that this car will become an alternative to crossovers and sedans.

Disadvantages of Lada Vesta AMT in reviews from car owners

The domestic car has long required radical changes. Despite the good mechanical transmission in most cases, its replacement is inevitable under the pressure of technological progress. Lada Vesta AMT is exactly the product that should accustom our drivers to a more comfortable ride, where there is no need to personally control all control processes. Let's consider the quality of AMT, based on reviews from car owners.[divider]

Victor. Vladivostok

1.8 l 16 cl. (122 hp), 5AMT / Comfort

For me, any gearbox seems comfortable. It’s another matter when my wife encounters a Lada Vesta. She often has to rent a car, so I’ll leave a review from her. As a beginner, I couldn’t cope with AMT right away. My wife seems to be a capable driver, but it really takes a lot of practice.

The disadvantage is the many functions associated with the brake. Various driving techniques like “crawl mode” definitely make driving in traffic easier, but you still need to skillfully use the switch from stop to drive.

The wife noted more advantages:

  • fuel consumption has decreased compared to the previous car, which has a good effect on the family budget;
  • There are no visible problems with the AMT - no repairs were needed during the six months of operation;
  • There is a noticeable time between gear changes, but for a careful driver (wife) there is no inconvenience.

It's difficult to say about Vesta's AMT in a positive way. The developers still have work to do. If possible, I will replace the car with something adequate, but at the same time I can drive for the rest of my life.
