From the outside, a sharp transition from the old school of design to the new one, led by Steve Mattin, is immediately visible. He managed to turn the familiar and discreet VAZ into a stylish and extravagant car that makes people turn around on the street.

A list of improvements has also been prepared for the car interior:
- Digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 10” (in the initial version, an analog “tidy” with two dials and an on-board computer screen between them will be offered);
- Multimedia with a 10" tablet screen (cheaper version - 8" display);
- Unit for setting the operating modes of the climate control system (similar to the Renault Arkana unit);
- Modified torpedo;
- New center console;
- New steering wheel;
- New door cards with modified upholstery;

Naturally, the full face of the model deserves special attention. The massive black radiator grille with a pair of horizontal bars, in the middle of which sparkles the company’s nameplate, immediately catches your eye. And immediately below it, as if continuing the composition, is the central part of the front bumper, made in a similar style and playing the role of an air intake. Interestingly, this black section narrows in the middle and widens on the sides, creating the silhouette of the letter "X". It was not for nothing that it was said that Lada Vesta adopted the basic ideas of the LADA X Ray concept.
All restyling changes
The list of improvements for the Lada Vesta 2022 includes new LED optics (front and rear), a modified bumper group and a completely new front panel in the cabin, where a virtual “tidy” and a vertical display of the multimedia system will appear.
Another interesting new feature will be the climate settings panel, which will be borrowed from Renault Arcana. Three rotating knobs with small built-in screens perfectly complement the appearance, where, as befits a modern car, there are fewer and fewer physical controls.
Profile - side view
A photo of the Lada Vesta from the side no less expressively demonstrates the beauty of the new product. In general, the side part is made quite utilitarian - the roof is slightly tilted back, the doors are medium-sized, the feet climb onto the rear fenders. All this is familiar from a lot of other models. But the highlight lies in the expressive curves made in the shape of the same letter “X”. In the photo it is noticeable that the sides “begin” on the front and rear wings, and the curves run along the front and rear doors, respectively. These stampings are made very clearly.
Technical contents and characteristics
Representatives of AvtoVAZ have repeatedly said that the updated Lada Vesta FL of the 2022 model year will not receive any improvements in terms of technology, but some sources talk about the appearance of another modification of the 1.8-liter VAZ engine in the engine range - with 136 hp. With.
For now these are just rumors, so its 122 hp version is still in service. s., as well as boosted to 145 hp. With. “sport option” plus a 1.6-liter Tolyatti engine with a capacity of 106 “horses” and an imported engine from Renault-Nissan with a displacement of 1.6 liters (113 hp)
The available types of transmission are also unchanged: domestic engines are equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, while French-Japanese engines are equipped with a continuously variable Jatco variator. Another option is offered by a sport modification with a forced engine, where Renault “mechanics” and a modified chassis appear.
Station wagon SW and SW Cross
In addition to Vesta sedans, AvtoVAZ produces SW versions - passenger 5-seater station wagons, as well as SW Cross - five-seat all-terrain station wagons. In the case of pre-reform cars, these models differ primarily in dimensions: the length of the SW Cross is 140 mm. more than regular SW; the width is 210 mm larger, and the height is 250 mm larger. All this is a consequence of the presence of a plastic body kit, while the body dimensions, interior capacity and trunk volume are the same for these modifications.
On the chassis, the Vesta SW Cross has an improved suspension, which maintains the stability of the car on the road (necessary due to the increased ground clearance to 203 mm). At the same time, ground clearance is increased due to larger 17-inch wheels. In terms of interior, both versions are practically no different, except for the bright colored inserts present in the SW Cross trim, LED interior lighting and the “Cross” logo on the dashboard.
Model history
The development of the Vesta model was actually carried out by the joint venture Renault-Nissan-AvtoVAZ, where the Tolyatti people undertook to unify a number of parts and components with the cars of other participants in the “cooperation”. So, for example, the steering rack and rear suspension, which were developed by Renault, appeared on Vesta.
Regarding the engines, an agreement was reached on the use of VAZ engines and one Nissan engine, but the British designer Stephen Mattin, who came up with the now famous “X-style”, was to be responsible for the exterior.

The first prototype of Lada Vesta appeared in 2015. Interestingly, they planned to produce not only sedans and station wagons, but also hatchbacks, although the latter were very quickly abandoned. As it turned out later, the manufacturer was afraid of unnecessary competition with the XRAY model.
Production sedan cars appeared in the same 2015, and station wagons and its off-road variants appeared 2 years later. At the beginning of 2019, the LADA Vesta Sport with a souped-up engine entered the market, and this modification became the first Vesta that was valued at more than 1 million rubles.
At the end of 2022, the Lada Vesta family experienced a slight restyling. His main achievement was the appearance of the Jatco variator, which was paired with a Renault engine. At the same time, VAZ units were left with only “mechanics”. In 2022, the model will undergo the largest restyling in its history, but it will not affect the technical part. The next target will be 2025, when AvtoVAZ will have to transfer all its models to the global platform of the Renault-Nissan alliance.

Inner space
Numerous photos of the trunk and interior of the Lada Vesta can clearly show how spacious and comfortable a modern car should be. The back seat can comfortably accommodate three adults. Despite the sloping roof of the body, rear passengers with above average height do not have to worry about hitting their heads on the ceiling. All seats are equipped with individual headrests. The front seats have pronounced lateral support and contribute to less body strain during long drives. The amount of space between the rows of seats ensures comfortable accommodation for all passengers.

The trunk of the sedan reaches a volume of 480 liters. The folding backrest of the rear sofa almost doubles the luggage space. This possibility of transforming the interior will appeal to those who like traveling to the countryside or out of town to easily transport large items. The wide trunk opening and low loading height allow you to load large luggage.
The luggage compartment on the Lada Vesta in the new station wagon has the same volume as the sedan. With the rear seats folded down, cargo space increases to 1,200 liters.
