Acoustics

Many people are familiar with the situation when passengers sitting in the back seat practically cannot hear those in front, although those sitting in front can hear themselves and those in the rear quite well. This is due to improper installation of the speakers and tuning of the car's sound system as a whole. The interior of a car is a limited space, and here you need to think very carefully about how and where to place the speakers. Most often, no one thinks about this. Those who still decide to install speakers in the front face a number of difficulties. They can be mounted either in the doors or in standard places on the dashboard. The door, being a resonator, requires good sound insulation of the speakers. In addition, both the door and the dashboard cannot accommodate large enough speakers - there simply is not enough space for this.

Lighting system

The factory lighting system of the VAZ 2109 is quite good, but does not have a very attractive appearance. The problem with the headlights offered for replacement is their low quality, so you need to make your choice carefully. By purchasing and installing low-quality but beautiful headlights, you will significantly worsen the lighting, and this will negatively affect traffic safety. The lighting system can be modified as follows:

  • replacing the headlight unit;

  • xenon headlights, but there is a fine for this and they cause inconvenience to other drivers and passers-by;

To fix the problem, you can buy new plastic, but sometimes it is enough to polish the one you have. This will improve the appearance of the lights and the brightness of the lighting, making the car more visible at night and in fog.

They have a presentable design, light weight, and the presence of additional holes between the disc spokes contributes to more efficient cooling of the car's brakes. The disadvantages of this type of tuning of the VAZ 2109 include the high cost of wheels and their lower strength compared to stamped ones.

In terms of disc diameter, 15-16-inch options are usually chosen. In some cases, you can find wheels with a diameter of 17 inches on cars. However, low-profile tires are installed on such wheels.

Installing large-diameter wheel rims (from 18 inches) implies the presence of welding joints on the car - widened and elongated wheel arches. Otherwise, the large wheels on the VAZ 2109 will come into contact with the wheel arch when the car is moving, and dirt from under the wheels will fall on the car body.

Optics

The standard front lighting fixtures of the car are replaced with xenon or halogen lights, and the reflectors are changed.     replace shock absorbers with gas-oil ones. It is recommended to buy shock absorbers and springs as a set. Monroe and Plaza sports shock absorbers are suitable for standard springs. For aggressive highway driving, Koni Sport or Bilstein Sport shock absorbers are more suitable. To improve the car's handling, it is enough to install a Monroe Gaz-Matic or Plaza;

Improvement of the car brake system is as follows:

  • replacing rear drums with disc brakes;
  • installation of a larger disc-caliper pair;
  • replacing the master brake cylinder. This must be done with the obligatory implementation of the two previous options, since the standard cylinder will not be able to cope with the task.

New panel trim

My panel was worn out by time, and even the former owner decided to hammer nails with golden heads into it for the surroundings, it was cracked in these places and it also tends to crack in the sun. Therefore, it was decided to find some
other overlay for the panel and since my neighbor used to have a nine with a low panel, he still has an overlay on it. He gave it to me free of charge, of course it has minor flaws, but all this can be fixed. The only negative is that there is no clock in the middle of this panel, but I’ll think of something

The transmissions stopped turning on! + Tuning flywheel and clutch

I was driving home from work and noticed that the gears were somehow starting to shift into gear. I thought that the clutch cable had stretched and went to the garage. I pulled it up and drove it, but it didn’t get any better. The next day I have to go to work, so I decided not to take it apart, and after working on the weekend I’ll figure out what the reason is.

I got to work fine, but I barely got home from work... the gears wouldn’t engage, as if there was no clutch at all.

I've already started to figure it out in the garage, the cable is moving and the foot is also what is the reason... I decided to remove the box and look at the basket.

There is wear on the petals, a little weakened and that’s all. So it's in the box!

I’ve been wanting to remove it for a long time, but I kept putting it off, a piece was broken off on the body where the internal grenade is inserted and oil was dripping from there. I wanted to remove it and weld it, but the box body turned up and also came with a dipstick, but I didn’t have one. In general, the building lay there and waited for its time, and now it has come!

I took the box and took the body to the car wash, and then to the technician. As a result, we had to change the bearings, input shaft, 2nd and 4th gears, forks and differential.

The master assembled everything into a new case and I took it back to the garage to install it. While the box was being made, I ordered a new Prior clutch and a lightweight flywheel.

I also bought supports for the car, a very good thing, I should have bought them earlier.

I installed a new lightweight flywheel, a Priora basket with a disc and the box itself.

I tied everything together and decided to put a new cable on the clutch at the same time. I start the car, put it in gear, and lo and behold, everything works! I drove through the garages and everything is fine. Well, now you need to break in the clutch and you can try to give it a whirl.

Additional brake light

Quite spontaneously today I came to install an additional brake light. I’ve been wanting to realize this idea for a long time, but I still couldn’t find a suitable stop, and today at work we went to the metal receiving area, and when we stopped there, a nine caught my eye. Well, naturally, I went to examine it, walking around I saw a stop that was exactly what I wanted. I asked if I could pick it up and, having received a positive answer, I tore it off, although I didn’t break much, but the superglue did its job. The fog lamps are halogen w5w, but LEDs can also be installed if desired.

After work I went to the store and bought 5 new w5w lamps. and 2m wires. Half an hour of fussing and it now shines on the back window.

Radiator grille

When the nines were produced with a short wing and a front plastic frame, it was considered the height of elegance to screw a chrome trim from a VAZ 2107 onto the radiator grille. Now such “tuning” is found exclusively in old photos, because there is nothing better than the standard one. The only thing is that on the VAZ 2109 assembly line they were equipped with grilles to match the overall color of the body, and in return you can get a shiny one from the store.

There is another type of profile product on the market - plastic with a metal mesh secured from the inside. Yes, for some cars this is a masterpiece, but for the Samara-1 family with a tiny air intake opening, the crookedly adjusted feature fails to impress.

Transfer of breather 5st gearbox

All owners of five-speed chisels are familiar with the problem of oil squeezing out through the box breather.
So I'm tired of the look of a dirty box under the hood. I decided to change the oil and at the same time move the breather higher. I ordered a new Toyota breather (9093003136) (this version without a valve, I don’t need it), a hose (21214180002800) and a fitting (21230170002100) for the breather from the shnivy. I also bought a Nordberg liter syringe (NO1100) for changing the oil. Experience has shown that half a liter would be enough.

The work is very simple, we take out the original breather and put the Shniv fitting in its place, put the hose on the fitting, place it in a convenient place under the hood and insert the Toyt breather into the end of the hose.

After this work and an oil change, I went and washed the engine compartment and now it’s clean.

The protection is slowly being worn away.
