Dear friends, today we will tell you about how to significantly improve the braking system of a classic by installing VUT from 2108. It is no secret that the braking system on a classic is outdated, and therefore it is quite problematic to brake sharply. And in general, in comparison with any front-wheel drive VAZ car, starting from 2108, the classics have “oak” brakes. Today we will fix this problem in order to increase the safety of driving your favorite car.
Let's go, and so we need: - VUT with Master Brake Cylinder from VAZ 2108 assembled - Vacuum booster mounting bracket from VAZ-21213 - classic caliper brake pipe 2 pieces - brake pipe connecting coupling from Gazelle/Volga - block for connecting the low level sensor brake fluid - ROSDOT4 brake fluid or another at your discretion Here is the stock version of the brake system on a VAZ classic:
We unscrew all the tubes from the classic GTZ. By pressing the pedal we pump out all the remaining brake fluid. Above the pedal assembly from the interior side, unscrew the 4 nuts securing our VUT. After this, the VUT along with the GTZ is dismantled; we no longer need it.
Now let's take our new VUT
We tighten the two bolts securing the VUT to the original bracket, and install our bracket from the VAZ-21213 (Niva). We put the boot on the rod, and put the original square rubber band on top of the bracket studs.
Then we bend the tube from the clutch cylinder closer to the body and move the brake pipes to the sides. We install our VUT and tighten the nuts so that it does not fall. Now our task is to connect all the tubes to the new GTZ. To do this, we disconnect the right caliper tube from the body and straighten it so that it becomes about 20 cm longer. On the line of the rear axle and the left caliper, we put on the brake caliper pipes through couplings from the Gazelle. We make fittings and bend all the tubes so that they fit into their places on the GTZ. The general diagram for connecting brakes to the GTZ from a VAZ-2108 looks like this:
Now there is a nuance - the original classic GTZ has 3 fittings for connecting the highways, but the new VUT from the VAZ-2108 has 4 fittings. Therefore, we connect the rear line through one fitting, and simply turn off the fourth extra fitting. Here's what it all looks like at this stage:
We tighten the 4 VUT fastening nuts from the interior side, don’t forget about the washers and groovers. We screw in all the lines, tighten them, but do not overtighten them, you can break the threads! Fill the brake fluid and bleed the system. We pump the wheels in the following order - rear right, front left, rear left, front right. Do not forget to monitor the fluid level in the tank so as not to allow air into the system. With each pumping, the pedal should become tighter and tighter. 1 liter of brake fluid was enough for us. Don't forget to connect the vacuum hose
