Priora central locking does not close the rear door

Modern car manufacturers pay great attention to the safety and security of their products. Already on the assembly line, cars are equipped with anti-theft systems. First of all, this is central locking and alarm system. With their help, you can automatically open all doors, including the trunk lid, either using a key or remotely using a special remote control.

There are situations when car doors stop closing. Under such circumstances, it is important to determine the cause of the malfunction and take adequate measures.

The car's central locking does not work: what should the driver do?

Central locking is a device that allows you to close and open all car doors automatically and simultaneously.
The solution is convenient and practical, and also quite reliable. However, during long-term operation or as a result of the use of cheap components, as well as malfunctions and breakdowns, the car’s central locking (CL) can often completely fail or operate incorrectly (for example, one door does not work). One way or another, if the central lock does not open one door or does not work completely, this problem must be solved, and urgently. It often happens that the driver at the most inopportune moment cannot open the doors using the alarm remote control or the key; the lock may suddenly close all the doors when the keys are in the ignition, etc. To avoid such troubles, it is necessary to localize and eliminate damage to the central locking system.

Faulty fuse or wires

The second most common reason that the rear door on a VAZ-2114 does not close is a blown fuse. A malfunction can result from either a normal short circuit or a system overload caused by improper operation.

Dangerous factors include incorrectly adjusted rods or dried out lubricant inside the lock, which makes it more difficult for the drives to move the lock rods. The same thing can happen in winter if you try to unlock the doors with the key fob for too long and too often, without allowing the locks to warm up.

  • adjusting the lock rod;
  • lubrication of moving parts;
  • Replacing the fuse, which is inexpensive.

In the same way, wires that are bent at a bend, for example, near a door pillar, can suffer from long-term use. Considering that it is from the driver’s door that five wires go to the control unit and then to the passenger doors, failure of any of them will lead to a cascade of incorrect actions on the part of the central locking system.

Typically, the following steps are sufficient to diagnose this problem:

  1. Removing the rubber protection of the wire bundle.
  2. Carefully palpate each of them separately.
  3. The broken wire will be weakened - it must be pulled out of the bundle.

By pulling out the second end, you can twist them yourself and insulate them, or use the appropriate terminals.

Peculiarities

Unlike other models coming off the assembly line of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, the Priora does not have a separate control unit on the central lock. Its functions are performed by a single electrical package controller. In addition to this unit, the vehicle protection system installed at production also includes an APS-6 type immobilizer. Thanks to this, the car owner does not need to install an additional security system on his car.

In reality, there are quite a lot of reasons for the central locking malfunction. Problems often arise due to:

  • controller;
  • keys;
  • immobilizer;
  • driver's door lock;
  • broken wiring;
  • shorting it to the ground of the car, etc.

If this or that problem occurs, you should pay attention to the window regulators, as well as the adjustment of the mirrors. If they do not function, then, most likely, the failure occurred due to a malfunction of the signal wiring coming from the 5th pin of the driver's door module or from the 5th pin of the HZ terminal, which supplies the controller itself.

Also, quite often, the failure of the central locking is caused by a malfunction of the immobilizer itself, because both of these elements are interconnected.

A breakdown in such a situation will be indicated by an audible alarm and flashing indicators.

Below we describe the most common breakdowns with central locking in Priora and ways to eliminate them.

Actuators

If only one of the doors does not open or malfunctions regularly occur, the culprit is most likely a malfunction of the activator. The thing is that it works in tandem with a motor. The latter sometimes has windings that burn or the gears that cause the lock rod to move become unusable. This unit cannot be repaired - it is simply replaced with a working one.

Also, quite often problems with central locking occur after replacing or disconnecting the battery. In general, the entire locking system is powered by the on-board battery; for this reason, it is undesirable to disconnect it without good reason. De-energization leads to malfunctions of the controller, and sometimes to its breakdown.

Electronics

In addition to the reasons described above, the problem may lie in small electronics. The check should begin with the key fob. First of all, the battery and the condition of the buttons are checked. Perhaps they stick and do not work at the right time. If the board itself is faulty, the key fob simply will not respond to external stimuli. The LED on its body will not light up. It's good if you have a spare key fob. Otherwise, you will have to change the alarm, or find exactly the same key fob.

Next, the alarm control unit is checked. The verification method is usually indicated in the instructions. Lastly, they check the microboard located on the central locking drive motor. At the same time, they look at the condition of the drive itself. All failed parts are replaced. The most difficult thing is with the control unit. It is practically beyond repair. Therefore, it is much easier to install a new alarm. Sometimes the key fob loses synchronization with the unit, then it will have to be reprogrammed.

How to prepare castles for cold weather

Before the cold weather arrives, the locking parts should be serviced.

You will need to purchase a thick lubricant like grease and lubricate the elements of the closing mechanism. This lubricant does not freeze and will minimize wear and tear of parts. There is a need to check the condition of all seals. If defects are detected, replacement will be required. Rubber sealing tapes are quite expensive, so it makes sense to ensure good care.

Additional rear door locking

The rear door lock can be locked by pushing down the lock button on both the open and closed doors.

At the ends of the rear doors (near the locks) there are latches for additional locking, which can be used when traveling with children or in other cases to prevent the doors from opening from the inside.

For additional rear door locking...

...push the latch down and close the door. In this case, the rear door can only be opened from the outside when the lock button is raised.

  • adjusting the lock rod;
  • lubrication of moving parts;

The procedure for activating the immobilizer.

To activate the Priora immobilizer, you must turn on the ignition with the red training key and after 6 seconds turn it off and remove the key from the lock. In this case, the immobilizer indicator will start flashing at a frequency of 5 times per second. This blinking frequency must continue throughout the activation period. Change means stopping the process due to incorrect actions.

While the indicator is flashing, you must insert it into the lock and turn on the ignition with the main key. If the action is correct, three beeps will sound from the buzzer. Do not turn off the ignition until two more beeps sound. After this, you can turn off the ignition and remove the key from the lock.

If you need to learn another key, then it must also be inserted into the lock and repeat the action as with the first key. To exit the learning mode, you must insert the learning key into the ignition switch. The Priora immobilizer buzzer will give three sound signals, and after about 6 seconds two more. After this, you must turn off the ignition without removing the key from the lock. After 10 seconds, a single beep will sound and the LED will flash as normal. This indicates the end of the procedure.

Results

The Lada Priora car is reliable and unpretentious. However, the power windows of this model often fail. Perhaps the matter lies in the imperfection of the mechanism, perhaps in the harsh operating conditions of the vehicle. These include low and high temperatures, high intensity of use, problems with CBKE.

If the window regulator breaks down, you need to immediately repair it. Repair work begins with diagnostics, which is carried out using a number of instruments. If diagnostics at home is not possible, then you should contact a car service.

A number of breakdowns can be repaired yourself. Such breakdowns include mechanical malfunctions of the window regulator, for example, a broken motor or a broken cable. Often, the glass lift is unstable due to poorly lubricated surfaces. If the window lifts operate separately, then most likely the problem lies in the electronics. If such problems arise, you should contact a specialist. Self-repair of car electronic systems is impossible.

Of course, electric window lifts are superior to mechanical ones, mainly due to practicality. However, electric lifts fail much more often. For their stable operation, it is necessary to follow the recommendations of the car manufacturer and regularly carry out technical inspections of the vehicle.

Replacing the battery in the key fob

A sign of a low key fob battery will be the LED flashing quickly when you press any button. The central locking does not respond to commands. It is worth noting that a discharged battery will not affect the ability to start the engine. Since the immobilizer can easily read the code written on the chip, synchronization will not be lost.

Disassembling the key fob is very simple; just unscrew one screw on the body and, using any available tool, remove the cover on which the buttons are located. Next, the printed circuit board is removed, under which the battery is located. You need to determine its type by reading the letter and number combination. When replacing, be sure to take into account those same 6 seconds, i.e. have time to install a new battery during this time, otherwise it will be necessary to restore synchronization.

How does car washing affect locks in winter?

When visiting washing stations, it is advisable to have confidence in the quality of drying. During the washing process, water can get into keyholes and other easily accessible openings. After washing, it is important that the car is dried, otherwise the remaining water will turn into ice.

In this case, a situation will arise when the door does not close in the car. You should wash your car at stations that have positive reviews and recommendations from car owners.

Categories of central locking faults

All possible problems with central locking can be divided into two large groups.

  1. The lock doesn't work completely.
  2. The lock works partially/with malfunctions.

In both cases, diagnostics and restoration of system functionality are required. The most noticeable is the complete malfunction of the central locking system, when it cannot be closed or opened. A partial malfunction, for example, the inability to lock the trunk or the central locking only closes the driver's door, may go unnoticed for some time.

Repairs must begin with diagnostics of the installed equipment. The central locking system must work properly even when the engine is not running - the main thing is that the on-board electrical network is working properly. If the central locking does not close the doors, all components of the system must be checked:

  • directly the control unit;
  • all connecting cables;
  • actuators – electric locks and drives.

If the system is pneumatic, then this will include checking the compressor, its board, as well as the drives and connecting pipes. The check can begin with the main or central drive, which is usually located in the driver's door. When it receives a corresponding signal, it sends it to all other drives in the system.

Why does the central locking system not work?

Quite often a situation arises when the central lock cannot be opened with a key or key fob. As a rule, the problem here is solely due to a faulty relay or due to damaged wiring.

If the key normally opens the central locking system, but the key fob does not, then most likely the battery in the latter is simply dead or its button needs to be cleaned. Experienced specialists note that in their practice, signal receiver or transmitter failures have occurred extremely rarely. You can check it simply - just use a spare remote control or insert a new power supply into the existing one.

The inability to open with the key is due to incorrect operation of the activator. This device is located directly in the driver's door, and it is responsible for distributing the signal through the locking mechanism. First of all, in this case, check:

  • wiring;
  • circuit breakers;
  • terminals.

To inspect the activator, you will need to remove the trim from the previously mentioned door.

Prior door lock does not open

What could this be and the price of the issue?

Car 2008 I hardly ever use the rear doors. About two years ago I noticed that the left door stopped coming off. Somehow it opened, I filled it with VD and the hinges and into the lock itself, it seemed to be better. About six months later it was necessary, again no. Well, okay, it seems, it’s not really necessary, there’s also the right rear one). And then the other day I looked and the right one was jammed.

Now both rear doors cannot be opened either from the inside or from the outside.

The car is mine, I’m the only owner, there were no accidents - that’s for sure, it’s summer now and car washes have nothing to do with it either. There are no children either - I didn’t do any child locks, everything was fine with the levers. The buttons on the alarm remote control are responsive, i.e. there is a mode for opening only the front doors - no, I have it set to all 4. Yes, it’s a hatchback body. The storage is in a garage and everything is fine with the body and geometry.

It is clear that you need to go to a service center, but what options might these be, incl. at the asking price?

Remove the seat then the trim (there are no bolts there). You pull the rod manually, open the door, fill all the connections of the rods with VD (there is no need to spare the VD, you need to pour it humanly) and after that, work the lock 30-40 times, and then pour everything well with silicone grease.

And let them adjust your rods; they are 100% not adjusted.

In the service, this whole procedure will cost mere trifles. You can do it yourself, but since you are a woman, ask your husband or lover)))

My nephew Priora, the back door behind the driver did not open, we did everything ourselves and quite quickly. Prior has such a disease.

Let's start with the simplest and most obvious. Simply by definition, there cannot be anything particularly complicated or expensive in the non-opening rear doors of a Priora.

In my humble opinion, only two more or less plausible versions of this malfunction can be put forward as possible malfunctions.

Due to the poor quality of the factory assembly, either the fastening of the rear door lock, or its mechanism itself, or the rods became loose. The “treatment” is very easy and simple. To do this, you need to remove the rear door trim, and using a pair of screwdrivers, carefully pull through all the loose parts of the lock mechanisms, and, if necessary, adjust both it and the rods. Since you are going to get into the door anyway, it is advisable to thoroughly lubricate all moving parts of the lock and rods.

Is there a gentle way to defrost a lock?

The modern market is full of offers of various antifreeze products, both domestic and foreign. Various lubricants and special sprays are available. When a car door is frozen and does not close, then using these means you can deal with icing and freezing of parts of the locking system. The keyhole is treated by spraying. It will take a little time, then everything will be all right. This procedure will protect you from similar troubles in the future. The cost of such solutions ranges from 200-400 rubles.

Repair of partial failures of the vacuum central locking system

In many cases, central locking malfunctions are accompanied by prolonged pump operation. It does not stop working until the protection turns it off.

  1. The central locking system opens and closes the doors until the compressor turns off. In this situation, the cause is a faulty drive switch. Voltage is supplied to the pump board from the activator; when it is supplied to plus, the doors open or close. The switch needs to be repaired or replaced with a new one.
  2. The doors close and open, the central lock does not open only some of them, while the compressor continues to work until the protection is triggered.

Anti-freeze composition

The main components of such solutions are silicone and various types of alcohol.

In other cases, other chemical components that have cold-resistant properties are used. The silicone base also has an anti-corrosion effect. Also, some drivers recommend using special car cosmetics that help quickly defrost doors.
