Ceed SW and Vesta SW Cross: the case when Lada is cooler than Kia

First of all, the enlarged rear doors have significantly increased the comfort for getting passengers in and out. The rear row of seats allows three adults to comfortably accommodate. At the same time, the roof slope visible from the outside does not at all affect the space under the cabin ceiling.

The trim received many inserts that improved the interior of the car.

The concept has a black, orange and silver interior that is akin to sports cars. An unexpected decision by the designers was body-colored lining, which can be seen from the inside of the doors.

The seats remained the same. Although, chrome inserts under the headrests brought some freshness and originality.

Overlays and inserts touched the front panel. The radio and air conditioning buttons have also undergone some changes.

The steering received a solid leather steering wheel, on which control buttons were added. In particular, the steering wheel heating button is clearly visible.

The space between the driver and passenger received a reliable armrest, which was the subject of many complaints from the first owners of Vesta and X-Ray. The brake lever and cup holders are more conveniently located.

Judging by the assurances of the manufacturers, at the official presentation in August 2016, the car will be released completely in this form. Statistics show that the new Lada Vesta Cross station wagon will have 320 original parts.

Operation in the city and off-road

Best of all, Vesta SV is suitable for most Russian cities, where there are many broken roads and snow-covered streets, since its ground clearance will not allow you to get stuck, and its high-torque engines will easily move the car from the lowest speeds, you just need to slightly release the clutch (or brake, in the case with variator).

As for off-roading, this is not a crossover. This is an ordinary city station wagon that is well suited for the streets, but not for the dirt. However, this will not at all prevent you from going to the lake or to the dacha in the summer along a country road with a rut.

Lada Vesta SW 2022 is offered in five different trim levels.

Classic

It is valued at 855,900 rubles and has on board:

Comfort

“Comfort” costs from 883,900 rubles and, unlike Comfort Light, it also received a cruise control function with a speed limiter and rear parking sensors. By default, it is equipped with a standard car radio with support for USB, Bluetooth and AUX. There are four speakers, in the front and rear doors. For an additional payment of 24 thousand rubles, you can purchase the Winter package, or its analogue Winter EnjoY Pro, which already costs 72 thousand and has on board the EnjoY Pro multimedia system with Yandex services and six speakers. Otherwise they are the same and include such functions as:

  • Fog lights;
  • Heated leather steering wheel;
  • Leather-trimmed gear knob;
  • Heated front seats 3-level;
  • Heated windshield.

The EnjoY Pro, due to the presence of an eight-inch screen radio, comes standard with a rear view camera, which makes parking easier.

Luxe EnjoY Pro

This station wagon package costs from 1,009,900 rubles and has on board:

  • Side airbags;
  • Climate control;
  • Multimedia system LADA EnjoY Pro with Yandex.Auto, 6 speakers;
  • Exterior mirrors with power folding function in the Prestige package;
  • Case for glasses;
  • Automatic headlight off;
  • Central armrest with box;
  • Illumination of entry/exit points on the front doors;
  • Rain and light sensors;
  • Rear view camera with dynamic lane markings.

A contrasting roof and black mirror housings are not available here by default, but are available for an additional payment of 16 thousand rubles. In addition, the aforementioned EnjoY Pro multimedia system is installed by default here, unlike Comfort, where it is optional.

Exclusive

The maximum configuration of the station wagon is estimated at 1,065,900 rubles and, among other things, received enhanced tinting of the rear hemisphere and a central armrest in the rear seats, which are heated. In any of the configurations there are no restrictions on the engine-transmission combination. You can even order a minimal package with a Nissan engine and a CVT.

Advantages and disadvantages

High ground clearance, which will not make the owner afraid of scratching the edges of the bumpers every time when parking near curbs, good clear steering, excellent suspension and handling - these are the strengths of this car. In addition, a large three-level trunk will be an excellent solution for family people and will allow you to fit almost everything you need there. Quite favorable consumption in the combined cycle - 7.3 liters will allow you not to stop at a gas station every day.

Of the minuses: a poorly readable instrument panel and a slightly whining manual transmission. This is not observed on the version with a CVT.

Dimensions of Lada Vesta SV 2017-2018 in a new body

As for the body dimensions, the basic version of the Russian station wagon and the Cross version will be almost the same. Moreover, the two versions will have the same headlights and bumpers.

Body dimensions:

  • length - 4 m 41 cm;
  • width - 1 m 76.4 cm;
  • distance between axles - 2 m 63.5 cm;
  • height - 1 m 51.2 cm.

The only difference between the two new products is the ground clearance:

  • 20.3 cm for the all-terrain version;
  • 18 cm for the standard version.

Big test drive of Lada Vesta Cross

Six months later, after the first show, the Lada Vesta Cross was again put on display. True, not at the international auto show, but in the exhibition pavilion of the Togliatti enterprise. The car has been transformed. The slope of the roof towards the rear of the car immediately catches your eye. This is exactly what the concept presented in 2012 had. Apparently, reviews from motorists about the appearance of the Lada X-Ray played a role. The Lada Vesta station wagon is completely close to a real crossover.

Towards the variator?

AvtoVAZ has not yet officially released information about engines and transmissions, but it’s hard not to notice the 1.8 nameplates on the rear of both station wagons. Under the hood of the Vesta sedan, this engine develops 122 hp, but still only works in tandem with the AMT “robot”, although on the XRAY crossover it is also available with a manual transmission (AvtoVAZ uses the French JR5-523 transmission). Unofficial signals that a manual transmission will also appear on Vesta 1.8 began to come from Togliatti last year, so it is very likely that the station wagon will be the first to receive both types of transmission. And since the station wagon is heavier, the main gear will most likely become “shorter”.

And we can say with almost complete confidence that the VAZ 1.6 engines paired with the 2180 “mechanics” and the AMT-2182 “robot” will remain the base for station wagons.

But let’s not forget that AvtoVAZ is looking with renewed vigor for an alternative to its “robot” - export markets demand this. Among the options, a variator from the arsenal of the Renault Nissan alliance is also being considered (and it uses Jatco units), however, adaptation of the new transmission will certainly take a lot of time, and an alternative gearbox is unlikely to be ready by the start of production of station wagons.

Don't expect all-wheel drive either. Just a year ago it seemed to us that AvtoVAZ was close to the final choice between the alliance’s multi-plate “electronic” clutch, a hydrostatic transmission and a scheme of its own design. But time passes, and Vesta 4x4 is not there and is not yet in sight.
