The relay and fuse box is also called the mounting block or black box. If problems are identified in the car related to electrical equipment, first check the fuses and relays. If they burn out, we replace them with the same ones, but first we must determine the cause of the burnout. The article contains a complete description of all Lada Largus mounting blocks.
Where is the fuse and relay box located in Lada Largus?
Lada Largus is a Renault Logan station wagon. Therefore, the fuses in it are located identically. This machine uses two fuse and relay boxes:
- In the cabin - to protect body electronics circuits. Located on the left side of the dashboard from the end.
- In the engine compartment - protects the electrical circuits of the engine ECU and ABS. Installed on the left side of the engine compartment next to the battery.
Both blocks are protected by special covers. To gain access to the interior fuse box, you need to open the driver's door and pry the ebb on the cover at the end of the panel with your finger. To remove the cover of the Largus fuse box in the engine compartment, you will need a screwdriver.
Temperature sensor
Such sensors break down quite rarely, but sometimes such troubles do happen. The following “symptoms” will indicate its malfunction:
- Coolant temperature readings on the on-board computer are -40⁰;
- The Check Engine light on the instrument panel combination will light up;
- Unstable operation of the internal combustion engine.
To make sure that the problem is with the sensor, you will have to “arm yourself” with a multimeter and check the resistance at the contacts of the device. The data obtained must be checked against a special table and, based on this, conclusions must be drawn about the need to replace the part.
How to choose a fuse for Lada Largus
Each fuse in a car has its own rating. The rating is the operating current and it is different for each circuit. For example, if a fuse on a Lada Largus protects the starter circuit and its rating is 40 Amperes, you cannot replace it with a 30 Ampere fuse. It will just burn out.
But protecting the cigarette lighter circuit with a 40 Amp fuse is dangerous for the consumer and the conductors. This could cause the wire insulation to melt, or even cause a fire.
The purpose of the fuse is to save the circuit and protect the consumer from the effects of a short circuit. Indeed, according to the laws of physics, during a short circuit or overload, the current in the circuit exceeds the permissible values.
As soon as it exceeds the trigger value of the fuse-link, it will break the circuit as it heats up and melts. After this, the consumer will stop working.
conclusions
Finding a problem with both the cigarette lighter and the radio is quite simple. Often, as practice shows, the problem is hidden in the fuse or contact group, but do not forget that there may be other reasons. Fixing the problems is quite simple, but if the motorist cannot do this himself, it is worth contacting a car service center.
Many components related to the electrical system in cars are interconnected, so you should not be surprised by frequent complaints on specialized forums that the cigarette lighter and radio of the VAZ 2114 do not work at the same time. In most cases, the cause of the malfunction is found out quickly enough and can be eliminated relatively easily by the car owner on his own. .
How to replace a fuse on a Largus from a block
To remove a faulty fuse on a Lada Largus, you need to use special pliers. Automakers leave these under the fuse cover, but they can often be found complete with new inserts.
For those who find tongs an inconvenient tool, you can simply pull out the burnt insert using wire cutters or pliers. A blown fuse cannot be reused. You can simply throw it away, and you need to put a new one in its place.
To replace a burnt insert, you must first find it. There are two ways to do this:
- using a control lamp;
- using special tables;
The first method is the secret of auto electricians. Using a control light with the ignition on, all fuse legs ring in turn. If you come across an insert where one leg rings and the other does not, it will be burnt.
The disadvantages of the method are that not all consumers receive power immediately after the ignition is turned on. The second method is the most correct - using a table describing all the fuses. To do this you need to have it at hand.
Cigarette lighter splitter: types and connection
Sometimes it becomes necessary to connect 2-3 devices to the cigarette lighter, which cannot be done without a splitter, and, given the design features, it is not always possible to connect even a telephone charger normally. Well, since Lada Kalina does not provide other alternatives, it is better to use this one.
The most common type of splitter has 3 sockets plus one USB port. By connecting an inverter (converter of on-board current to 220 V), you can easily charge devices such as an e-reader, tablet computer or laptop on the road. The price of the device in question ranges from 170 to 300 rubles. Buying a power strip is much cheaper and easier than replacing a cigarette lighter.
You can, of course, connect the necessary devices to the ignition without touching the cigarette lighter. But here you cannot do without the hands and knowledge of an experienced auto electrician, and installation will take more time. There will be a lot of extra wires and additional fuses will be needed. However, some car owners consider this method more reliable for Lada Kalina.
It is, of course, better to use an inverter with direct wiring. But without it, a high-quality splitter will be enough. The only question is to find a really high-quality device. The splitters are structurally similar to any extension cords used in everyday life for sockets. But there are differences between different models, which do not always have a good effect on both their operation and the condition of the Lada Kalina’s electrics. Cigarette lighter socket splitters can be divided into three types:
- those in which the block with sockets is made in a single housing with a central plug;
- those in which the plug and socket are connected by a flexible connection;
- connected via a power cord.
A splitter with a solid body is considered more reliable for obvious reasons: there is no need to fear that an important wire will break and the device will become unusable. And the price of a splitter in the classic version is much less. But it’s not always possible to position it in a way that is convenient for the driver and passenger, especially if all its connectors are used. Moreover, the purely mechanical load on the cigarette lighter increases, but the socket itself is unreliable.
Misalignment of the plug will again lead to a short circuit. So Lada Kalina owners choose more advanced models of splitters. For example, with a swivel joint. But they are also capable of deforming the socket more clearly than usual, in a monolithic case, and the hinge itself can easily break. Therefore, for Kalina, where the cigarette lighter is located quite low, it is better to use a splitter with a cord. There is only one inconvenience - an extra wire, which must be placed so that it does not interfere.

What causes fuses to blow in Largus
The fuse link on Largus never fails without reason. For the fuse to trip, the current in the circuit must rise above the insert rating. There are two types of faults that cause this:
- overload:
- short circuits;
Overloads occur when a large number of consumers are connected to one fuse. For example, a splitter is inserted into the cigarette lighter, to which additional equipment is connected. The current in the circuit increases, the conductors heat up and the fuse blows.
To prevent this from happening, you need to install an insert with a 5 Ampere rating higher. But you should not increase the rating by more than 5 Amps to avoid overheating of the insulation and its melting.
Short circuits of the Lada Largus occur as a result of contact of the supply “plus” with the “minus” or the car body. This happens due to errors during the installation of additional equipment, malfunctions of control units, or simple chafing of the wiring in the protective corrugations due to dirt.
You should not change the insert if it burns out immediately after installation. Most likely, there is a short circuit in the circuit that needs to be found.
Backlight repair
After preparation, you can begin to remove the part.
- We turn off the engine, open the hood and turn off the power supply by removing the wire from the negative battery bank. An alternative is to remove the F38 cigarette lighter fuse from the interior mounting block.
- We pry up the panel with the buttons (or plugs) for the rear power windows and disconnect the connection pads.
- Unscrew the screw securing the tunnel.
- We dismantle one of the parts.
- Unscrew the two screws under the side mirror control unit.
- We dismantle the two fasteners inside the glass stands.
- We pry up the gearbox cover with a screwdriver, freeing it from the clamps, and remove it.
- Unscrew the two fasteners on the left and right sides of the tunnel.
- Raise the tunnel and disconnect the plug of the car cigarette lighter wires.
- We dismantle the metal ring of the device.
- We take out the light filter along with the lamp.
Now you can remove the cigarette lighter, change it or repair the backlight (see video). Installation is carried out in reverse order.
