Installing a new adapter

Modern adapters elm 327 with the OBD-II program (puncture) are suitable for the VAZ 2110 . You can also install them yourself. First you need to purchase an elm 327 and a cable for it. You already know the location of the diagnostic connector. Be sure to study the instructions, which indicate the pinout of the block and the location of each connector.

The pad can be removed quite easily. Insert your own cable into each connector of the block, making sure that the pinout of the elm 327 complies with the manufacturer’s instructions. Check that each connector is connected correctly and each cable is in the correct place. After this, the block is installed in its place.

Connecting the diagnostic connector to the block

Fault detection programs for elm 327 can be downloaded on the Internet, many of them in a free version. Now your VAZ is ready to detect errors in various car systems, and you can always download error codes from us.

Checking the generator and changing the brushes

Most often, brushes on a generator fail. They are replaced according to the instructions:

  1. Remove the negative terminal from the battery and unscrew the positive wire from the generator housing. Pull out the wire chip that transmits voltage to the winding.
  2. Now you need to release the latches and remove the casing from the generator. It is under it that the brush assembly is located.
  3. Unscrew the two screws and disconnect the wire leading to the brushes.
  4. Pull out the brush block and inspect it; if the surface is very worn, then you need to install a new similar part in its place.

Assembly of the unit is carried out in the reverse order. Before doing this, you need to check the condition of the anchor. If too much offset has formed on it at the point of contact with the brushes, then you need to remove this unit and grind it on a lathe. If you leave this point without attention, then very soon the new brushes will become unusable.

If you decide to disassemble the generator to grind the armature, check the condition of its bearing, armature winding and other components. If several components are in poor condition at once, you need to replace them or install a new generator on your VAZ-2114.

Why does the voltage in the car network decrease?

There are several reasons why the fuel level sensor fails on a VAZ-2114: most often it is a failure of the controller itself or a break in the wiring to it. If error 2 appears along with an announcement about low voltage in the network, then you first need to provide sufficient power to the element, and only then check its condition.

The voltage may decrease for one of the following reasons:

  • the battery is discharged or quickly loses capacity;
  • you have installed high energy consumption equipment in your car;
  • generator wear or incorrect operation.

In the first case, it is enough to check the battery capacity and, if necessary, charge it, but in the rest, more detailed diagnostics are required: checking the generator and electrical circuit. You need to inspect the electrical wiring under the hood for breaks. If there are no visible faults, then you should begin disassembling and checking the generator.

Often the error appears after the onset of cold weather on an unheated car. In this case, the reason usually lies in the battery, which has lost its capacity due to long-term use. In most situations, when a failure occurs on a frosty day, it is enough to install a new battery on your VAZ-2114.
