Since I often operate the car at full load, I chose a Granta station wagon with the most powerful engine available. I used to drive a Lada Kalina with an 8-valve engine, and sometimes it didn’t have enough power. It is very good that in the new engine, even if the timing belt breaks, the valves do not meet the pistons, which allows you to avoid expensive engine repairs. To be fair, I must say that my belt had never broken before, but I had problems with the rollers and pump.

The car is good. The suspension is soft and quite energy-intensive. The sound insulation is poor, you can hear everything. Ground clearance is 160 mm, in winter I can park wherever I want. It's a bit cramped inside, and it's hard for three of us to sit in the back. I'm pleased with the traction control system, it drives great in winter. Not the entire instrument panel is visible from the passenger seat. The trunk is small but roomy, enough for a small car. The landing is soft, but not very comfortable. In winter, the heating of the windshield is pleasing; the glass heats up in 3 minutes, and all the ice comes off. The heated seats also please with their quick heating. The mirrors are large and everything is visible very clearly. Overall, the car is good and inexpensive in its class, I don’t regret the purchase.

Hi all! I bought Grant a Liftback 2nd configuration. I bought it after 14, which I rattled off for almost 8 years. Therefore, my review is mainly a comparison with 14.

why is it better 14:

— more places, more comfortable for tall people, I’m 192 cm tall,

— There is a good view in the mirrors and in general the mirrors are ok! At 14, I constantly had to bend down to look in the mirror, but that was because of my height,

— ventilation makes less noise, blows much better, overall I liked it, but there are problems in winter, more on that below,

— clearly more powerful, faster acceleration, +12 power is felt,

— there are daytime running lights, in my opinion this is an important plus,

— the cable drive of the box eliminated vibrations on the lever,

— the electric trunk lock is not a bad thing, it was brought to an additional channel on the signaling system, it’s very convenient to open it from the remote control, the question is why they didn’t make a locking gas tank flap (it’s not clear),

— design is a matter of taste, but, of course, it probably looks better

— AvtoVAZ finally got new door locks, the doors open and lock well, I don’t know what will happen next, on the 14th there were always problems with the door handles,

I took a ride in AutoHERMES to Krasnaya Sosna, took a test drive on Grant and decided to take it. Automatic after manual is just a fairy tale. Nothing rattles or knocks, the cabin is quiet, the engine can be heard, but not loudly, even with a sharp press on the gas, the engine roars, but is not deafening. When driving, gear shifting is absolutely imperceptible, everything is smooth and smooth, and only the numbers on the computer show that they are shifting. The development of the Grant was caused by the need to move away from the outdated forms of the Samara, the clumsy hood and bumper. The models were given ergonomics, fluidity, athleticism, and fit. The front part of both modifications is identical: radiator grille, hood cover, optics. The front bumper has niches for installing fog lights, which adds harmony and functionality. The sedan attracts with a 520-liter trunk, the liftback has a cargo compartment volume of 440 liters, but the body itself is much more practical. Add to this the ground clearance of 160 mm and we get a very practical car. However, the interior is not that spacious by modern standards; the interior, of course, is very modest, assembled from the simplest materials. But what do you want from a car that is cheap by definition?

However, Granta owners can write a whole list of wishes and suggestions. For example, so that door handles work softer and more clearly, so that their mechanisms are more durable, as well as the regulators of the ventilation and heating systems. So that the interior seals are more effective, and the interior parts do not start rattling on rough roads a few years after purchase.

There are also complaints about the windshield wiper mechanism, as well as about the reliability of electrical equipment - all of this may require attention from the owner after 5-6 years of operation. It seems like there are little things that can be solved inexpensively, but it’s all nerves and time. However, some of the problems relate to cars from early years of production: it is believed that more recent copies look better in this regard.

The body's resistance to corrosion is at an average level. Granta frankly does not rot, but local pockets of corrosion on cars older than 3-5 years are quite possible, especially if the owner is in no hurry to repair chips, and the thin paintwork is quite sensitive to mechanical stress. Accordingly, the most vulnerable parts of the external body parts suffer: the edges of the hood and doors, the trunk lid, rear arches, and sills. In the case of “elderly” specimens, it is important to arrange an inspection from below and assess the condition of the bottom, side members and other power elements of the body. Considering the low cost of the car itself, restoring a neglected body may simply not be economically feasible.

Yes, the car is equipped rather modestly, and yes, it has shortcomings. But at the same time, it is one of the cheapest offers on the new car market. Whether the price of the Lada Granta liftback is suitable or not - everyone will decide for themselves. The car certainly has its right to exist. The engineers initially wanted to make a “people’s” and affordable car, and they succeeded quite well.

It is guaranteed to appeal to those who want a new car, but do not want or cannot spend a lot of money on it. But if you take the richest package, then if you give up the automatic and a few little things, it will be only 50 thousand cheaper than the Volkswagen Polo, Kia Rio or Hyundai Solaris. These cars go much faster and generally look more expensive. And those who can look at the options for themselves on the used market will certainly be put off by the problems and shortcomings of the Lada Granta liftback.
