As soon as you get into a car of a higher class, you understand why the Granta remains a budget vehicle and will never compete with more expensive foreigners. Everything here looks pretty nice, but it's best not to touch anything. The assembly is pretty disgusting, but slightly better than the old Granta. The car shows a bunch of minor flaws, but the price allows you to forgive most of them.
We will pay attention to the most unpleasant moments:
- the car's handling remained at a terrible level, since AvtoVAZ decided to use the old platform and practically did not fundamentally change anything in the implementation of the steering;
- H19 lamps in head optics - it is very difficult to explain why the concern’s engineers decided to install these particular lighting devices in the car, they are expensive and quite difficult to change;
- The inside door opening handles have become beautiful, but very inconvenient, it takes a long time to get used to the fact that you have to aim at the handle, and not everyone’s fingers can fit into the small slot;
- the comfort of the seats has not become much better, but the shape of the seats has been slightly improved, so that now your back will not ask for a stop every 50 km of the trip, but you can’t expect high comfort;
- quality of plastic - we expect a little better quality from a concern that claims to be completely rebooted and working for the client, so this point is a little striking.
It is always necessary to talk about the disadvantages of a Grant taking into account its cost, and in this regard, all the disadvantages disappear. Of course, mistakes like door opening handles and headlight lamps must be eliminated; these are technically incorrect and inconvenient solutions for the buyer, which should not exist in a modern car. However, in other respects it will be difficult to find fault with the car. By the way, the AMT robotic gearbox is no longer a disadvantage of the car; the Grant is equipped with the second generation of this unit with improved technology.

Expenses for 6 years
In 2013, Lada Granta was purchased. In 2014 she drove without problems, there were no investments, as in 2015, 2016. That is, she drove for 4 years without repairs. In 2022, the glove compartment handle broke and it wouldn’t close.
This case cost 300 rubles. In 2022, the running lights bulb burned out and the clutch failed. Many people say that it has been running for more than 100 thousand, but apparently I was unlucky. The clutch disc cost 3400, its replacement cost 4000. But this work also included a scheduled replacement of the timing belt and oil. Therefore, I cannot say how much it cost to replace the clutch disc. Total – 7500 rubles.
There have been no further investments yet. I undergo maintenance twice a year - at the end of summer and after winter. I change the oil every 10 thousand km.
Granta has driven 90 thousand, I pour the same oil 10w40, but the last 2 times I filled it with 5w40. As for the price of oil, it will vary depending on how it turns out. The price already includes a filter. In total, I spent 12,500 rubles over the entire period of operation for oil changes.
Gasoline spends 4,000 rubles per month, I fill up a full tank 2 times for 2,000 rubles. I don’t travel a lot; my annual income is 48 thousand rubles. Consumption on the highway is 6 liters, if you drive 90-100, in the city 9.5 liters.
I don’t know whether this will be a lyric or not, but it seems to me that this is a bit much for such a small car with an 87 hp engine. With.
One of the disadvantages on the road is that the car is not respected in traffic.
The appearance is also not so great, it looks narrow and very tall. The torpedo does not crack too much, but it makes some sounds, there is no noiselessness.

I've been driving for almost 2 years now, I've only driven about 12,000 km. Operation all year round, highway/city, 50/50. I live in a suburban village, so I often need to travel to the city along the highway... There have been no serious breakdowns in two years.
— Quite a comfortable fit, I don’t get tired even when I go on long trips of more than 500 km. You sit like a glove.
— Quite comfortable ergonomics of the cabin, nothing superfluous, and there can’t be anything like that there.
— The interior dimensions are not the smallest; four people fit into the car quite well, without interfering with each other.
— I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the trunk, it is simply huge. At first I didn’t appreciate it, but when a small child appeared and the need to carry all sorts of junk appeared, the trunk went with a bang.
— Quite high ground clearance for a sedan, which is a big advantage on our roads (especially in winter).
— An excellent stove, it heats up by 5 even at -30 degrees, the interior warms up quite quickly.
— The engine starts even at -25 without using any auxiliary equipment, although if the street is below -20, then I try not to touch the car.
And now come the disadvantages of this device:
— Very poor sound insulation.
— The quality of the paintwork is very poor, which immediately lets you know that this is a car for a beggar like me. After only 1.5 years, rust appeared on the doors, weak but still. The same thing happens on the front hood, where all the salt and snot from the autumn and spring roads gets in.
— The car is quite rigid, either they wanted it to steer better in turns and roll less, which is actually present, or it’s just like that. The first “jamb” identified was the sound insulation . You can hear the road almost all the time, not allowing you to really relax behind the wheel. The situation is slightly changed by additional sound insulation.
The seats leave much to be desired. With my massive build, I have to stop and get out of the car from time to time to relax. Manufacturers must definitely work on such aspects better, because it is difficult to come to terms with such shortcomings during a long trip.
The dynamics are present exactly up to 60 km/h. At a decent speed, it feels like a liftback from yesteryear, not a 2022 car. Of course, no one is going to race, but sometimes overtaking the vehicle in front becomes a difficult task.
A number of other identified disadvantages:

There were no real reviews about the Lada Granta liftback at the time of purchase; I identified all the shortcomings myself. "Robot" works with a very strange pattern. Sometimes you don’t notice his work, but other days you want the good old mechanics. Although if you get used to specific gear changes, then life becomes easier.
The rear view mirrors are not wide enough. In corners and other bends, the situation behind is partially hidden. There were also serious complaints about the interior due to its simplicity. The lack of interesting solutions forced us to take matters into our own hands and buy various rugs...
For me, the Lada Granta station wagon turned out to be a complete disappointment. The first good emotions quickly gave way to a scattering of negative comments:

I have already bought my second Grant, only now a new one. I got normal brakes! On my first Grant, the travel was quite long before it set, and during the test drive of the luxury version there was a car with the same operating principle. Plus, in video reviews, people also noted this.
In general, this is still the same Granta with a normal engine by modern standards, with a good automatic transmission, which does not change a bunch of gears back and forth for the sake of some half-liter of savings, but is absolutely predictable and adequate on descents and ascents, with excellent dynamics for the city and maneuverability, which can be safely used, and not carefully moved, with a cool omnivorous suspension and decent ground clearance.

Salon. In general, I liked everything about the cabin, if you take into account the class and price of the car. In terms of space, of course, it’s a bit cramped, but not critical: “you can live,” that’s what I decided for myself... but it’s cheap!

The new body of the Lada Granta 2022 is built on the basis of a front-wheel drive platform from Kalina with a transversely mounted engine. - You can also choose a version with a sixteen-valve VAZ-21126 engine producing 98 horsepower (145 Nm). Only this unit comes in tandem with a four-speed Jatco automatic. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h is possible in 13.1 seconds, maximum speed is 176 kilometers per hour.
- The most powerful 16-valve engine VAZ-21127 develops 106 hp. and 148 Nm. This engine can work with either a five-speed manual or a robotic transmission. The version with a manual transmission is capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 10.5 seconds, while the car with a robot is noticeably slower - 12.0 seconds. The maximum speed in both cases is 184 km/h.
The Lada Grant sedan cannot be called frisky, and it has absolutely nothing to provoke the driver to drive fast. The lack of dynamics is especially felt in the version with a 98-horsepower engine with an automatic transmission. This modification picks up speed well only up to 40 km/h, after which the speedometer needle creeps up extremely slowly, and dynamics appear only during kickdowns.
Feedback on the steering wheel of the model is slightly sluggish, and the car turns at speed with slight rolls. Certain questions also arise regarding the braking process: the pedal is too soft, and the pickup begins to be felt only after 40% of the pressure.
However, the Granta is not a sports car to require anything more from it, and for a car of its class it handles well. At the same time, the main advantage of the model is the practically impenetrable suspension, which ensures a very smooth ride even on broken and undulating surfaces.
The front seats in the new Lada Granta 2022 after restyling began to please the eye, but not everyone will like the seating itself. The seat back is quite high and comfortable, and the cushion could be longer. In addition, the updated cars use slightly stiffer padding, which is why on a long journey the desire to get out and stretch will appear more often than on an old-style car.
In turn, the main disadvantage of the second row is the narrow space in the area of the lower part of the doorways, which makes getting in and out difficult. The rear sofa here is three-seater, but three adults will hardly be comfortable, but it is quite possible to seat two adults and one child.

The Lada Granta sedan entered production back in two thousand and eleven, and now an updated version of the model, which was presented at the Moscow Motor Show in the summer of '18, is on sale. In addition to the sedan, the family also includes a liftback, hatchback and station wagon.
Lada Granta FL in the new body has an X-shaped front end, made in the same style as on Vesta and XRAY cars. The bumper has undergone a complete revision, receiving an expanded air intake and chrome inserts in the form of boomerangs. Surprisingly, not just anyone, but AVTOVAZ managed to make a car with such a body and such dimensions harmonious. It’s a tempting idea to create a B-class that will be both beautiful and roomy. Tempting and complex. The VAZ team succeeded – not an ounce of heaviness, exactly the opposite: a swift, light silhouette, complemented by a couple of important details.
Firstly, the “tightened” front bumper looks nice, modern and “more expensive” than the previous one. Secondly, the same is true for the new mirrors with integrated turn signals (in Lux), which, among other things, no longer cause aerodynamic noise at high speeds.
Take a look again: the almost perfect roof line, falling towards the edge of the trunk, so clearly echoing the window sill line rising towards the stern. Such simple remedies and such adequate results. AVTOVAZ, why didn’t you do this before?! And behind the beautiful facade there is a very functional interior hidden.
Of course, when you get into this liftback, you get into Granta. Inexpensive plastic, inconvenient “twist” of the multimedia complex, the inability to put a half-liter bottle of mineral water in the cup holder and change gears of “mechanics”, a compromise “budget” driving position... There is no engine temperature indicator (however, it will appear on cars of the next model year), and the new gearshift lever knob looks a little clumsy and is not very convenient to handle - it’s a bit large...
However, it will be easy for consumers of products under the Lada brand to get used to all this - these are not such shortcomings compared to what journalists wrote about in the context of AVTOVAZ several years ago. Yes, the rear headrests still have to be removed when folding the “sofa” (and the designers probably can’t get away with this), but after you’ve found a place for them in the cabin...
That very moment when the car does not deceive for the second time, but rather exceeds expectations. Looking at the huge area with a flat floor, everyone will think about their own: a student - about a pleasant evening on the river bank in the company of a girlfriend, a pensioner - about almost ripened seedlings on the windowsill, eager to move to the country... The trunk volume, even with the back of the rear seat raised, is 440 liters . This is almost the same as the sedan, much more than the Kalina hatch, and (attention!) more than the Kalina station wagon! And at the same time, despite the sloping roof, people with a height of “180+” sit quietly in the back.
How does she drive? You can say “like Grant,” but in fact there are several options for answering this question. We tried different versions of the liftback, and this is what we came up with. The manual transmission has once again been slightly modified, the gears are now engaged a little more clearly, but the innate hum of the gears has not been eliminated. In addition, the wheel arches are severely lacking in sound insulation.
But the liftback has a luxury version with gas-filled struts, which make the car noticeably stiffer on bumps, but also much less rolly in corners. I wish the steering wheel had a little more feedback, but even here the design possibilities for improvement have already been selected to the maximum - an increased caster angle, revised characteristics of the elements, and negative rear camber too...
But the Granta is hardly a driver’s car in principle (if you don’t consider a completely separate Sport version), so all other versions, except the luxury one, have ordinary “oil” struts that will cope perfectly with country potholes and other vicissitudes of fate.
On the other hand, if we compare the liftback with the sedan, the difference in the “drive” is obvious: the car has become more composed, in a fast turn it is not so prone to skidding the rear and is more similar to the exemplary (if we keep in mind the Lada line) Kalina, whose turning ability is close to neutral. Budget tires LingLong also brought a surprise - of course, they start squealing early, but at the same time they hold tenaciously (just don’t go to the Nurburgring on them), and in addition, they work well as an addition to suspension elements when driving over uneven surfaces.
In general, there are no complaints about the power units - AVTOVAZ has always been able to make good engines, the rule “do no harm” applies here. No harm done - the 106-horsepower engine, combined with a manual transmission, perfectly pulls the car up on a slight incline in fifth gear, and the traction reserve is enough to overtake a strainingly crawling truck without resorting to shifts. With a 98 hp engine, which was “made friends” with the Japanese Jatco automatic transmission, the Granta is a little slower in accelerating to “hundreds”, but within one second, so the subjective sensations are pleasant.
True, such a Grant is unlikely to shine in terms of efficiency - it is extremely difficult to get a consumption of less than 12 l/100 km. But in general, the “automatic” option is so cool (with it, honestly, I want to throw out of my head the thoughts that mechanics are labor, and two-pedal cars are for girls), that with a difference of 2 or 3 liters per 100 km you can come to terms with it. In the end, you have to pay for everything. And you must agree that an automatic transmission in this segment is not even a rarity, but an almost unprecedented luxury. By the way, the “automatic” option is noticeably more expensive. But such cars already have a buyer.
Liftbacks, like sedans, are equipped with the latest generation Bosch ABS with the BA emergency braking function, and in the luxury version they are complemented with the ESP exchange rate stability system. In addition to active safety, there is passive safety - low-cost versions have one airbag, while “normal” and luxury versions have two. Thank God, we didn’t test the airbags, but the ABS works correctly, if not intelligently – not a hint of the rough “jackhammer” in the brake pedal on the first Grants.
What about the brakes themselves? I have something to compare with - after all, the first generation Kalina was the family car for seven years. Yes, they have become better - the “vacuum unit” was improved jointly with Renault-Nissan, so the pedal travel has been reduced, and the force increases more smoothly. You start to think “almost like a foreign car,” and then you remember Largus, which is also a Lada and, at the same time, indeed, albeit a budget one, but a “foreign car.” That's where the brakes are. There is a pendant. There is plastic, which is just as cheap, but creaks less after a few thousand kilometers... In general, the Lada brand still clearly has room to grow.
So a Lada Granta in a liftback body means really high expectations. The expectations of the factory workers themselves - before launching completely new models, it is so important to have a strong springboard. Journalists' expectations - is this really the AVTOVAZ that could do it? And this is also consumer expectations. The car will definitely find its buyer. She will be appreciated. She is a very adequate “today” of the domestic automobile industry.
