Frequent problems with fuses were observed in the first generations of models; later engineers eliminated the defects.
Where is the power supply located: in the Lada Granta, as in previous VAZs, the mounting block is installed to the left of the steering column. The additional block is to the right of the battery, there are power fuses (hereinafter referred to as modules). The back side of the cover with a description of the pinout of each module (see photo).
In case of failure, it is not difficult to replace faulty modules with new ones, but be careful not to violate the installation technology. Otherwise, you risk damaging the equipment.

What to do if the battery light is on - car diagnostics
Diagnostic systems in modern cars allow car owners to practically not worry about the quality of operation of the equipment. If certain problems occur, the corresponding lights on the dashboard light up. After such an incident, you need to immediately diagnose the machine, find out the reasons for the breakdown signal and fix the problem. There are quite a few diagnostic lamps today, and by the combinations of their illumination, you can determine which components should be checked in the event of a potential breakdown. If certain lights on the instrument panel in your car continue to light while driving or with the engine running, you should check the corresponding components.
Immediately when the ignition is turned on, the instrument panel will turn on completely, all light bulbs will be checked so that the driver can identify failed illumination elements. After a few seconds of loading the on-board computer, most of the lights fade out, only the oil and battery indicator lights up. When the engine is running, these two lights should go out. All that remains is the parking brake engaged indicator, if it is, of course, on.
Reasons why the battery light remains on
It often happens that after starting the engine or while driving, the battery light continues to light. There are two possible causes of the problem to consider here, which are expressed differently. In the first option, the light simply lights up with the same intensity and does not go out immediately after starting the engine.
In another case, the battery indicator light comes on during a trip, when the driver stops, for example, at a traffic light. When you increase the speed, the light goes out again or glows less intensely. In the first case, there may be glitches in the electrical equipment system of the car itself, as well as a really discharged battery. In the second case, the indication means the following:
- the on-board electrical system of the vehicle is subject to too much load when driving;
- most likely, you have connected additional devices that are not provided for in the standard electrical system;
- when the speed is reduced to idle, the generator cannot cope with the load, and the battery energy is connected;
- while driving, the battery does not charge, but rather continues to discharge, which leads to its failure;
- After reaching a certain speed, the charge from the generator increases, goes to the battery, and the light goes out.
This situation is fraught with the risk that after several weeks of travel your battery will fail. But we are talking about increased loads precisely in the case when the light bulb burns unevenly. As the speed increases, the battery indicator fades out or lights up less intensely. If the light is constantly on, there is a malfunction in the on-board diagnostic system.
If in a situation with overload you can try to cope with the problem on your own, then in the case of a malfunction of the diagnostic system, it is better to give preference to the services of specialists. Professional diagnostics will help you find out all the possible causes of problems and give recommendations for repairing problems that have arisen in your car.
What to do if the battery light shows increased load?
If you don’t want to go to a service station, it’s worth checking for additional equipment in the car’s electrical system that can be turned off. If you recently installed new equipment, remove it and check the operation of the indicators. You can also check the operation of the generator and the serviceability of other components of the electrical system.

[Closed] Solved: Dashboard backlight does not light up.
Topic: Resolved: Dashboard lights do not come on.
I'll start like this. Previously, when I started the car, the dashboard was either on or off, or rather, everything except the turn signals and high beams were off (though the high beams were turned off, and when the high beams were on, the lamp went out.) When the key is turned, the indicators always light up properly. So I solved this problem by simply turning the windows over (I don’t know why, but it helped, the backlight turned on). Now turning over has stopped helping))) and I’m tired of the darkness on the dashboard. I removed the tidy, changed all the bulbs, they all work, checked. Checked all fuses, all are good. I checked the backlight dimmer, it was also working, I also connected the wires directly, the same garbage. Well, I don’t know what else. Tell me what it could be (((I don’t want to change the whole order(

Re: Resolved: Dashboard lights do not light up.
there is the same garbage, I decided this way: there are covers behind the fuse block (now I don’t remember which one I removed), my terminal is responsible for the backlight, which dangles like a hole in the ice, and everything became OK.

Re: Resolved: Dashboard lights do not light up.
100 pounds of some kind of brain-blocking rosin. My fuel level indicator did not work and the voltmeter only worked when hitting in order, and even then not always, of course, not at 10 but at 07, but the essence is basically the same for our cars, the contacts were soldered and tightened and everything became normal.

Re: Resolved: Dashboard lights do not light up.
If I'm not mistaken, this is block Ш2, wire 6. I was glad to help you.
Power fuses
An additional block of power modules is located in the engine compartment, under the hood, behind the battery and expansion tank. It accommodates the following five modules:
- F (F-1) / 50A: electric power steering (EPS). Connected to fuse F32;
- F (F-2) / 30A: stove heater cooler (in the cabin);
- F (F-3) / 60A: generator;
- F (F-4) / 60A: generator contact board;
- F (F-5) / 30A: low beam. Connected to fuses F12, F13.
Principle of operation
Manufacturers have equipped the car model in question with an electronic speedometer. Such a system calculates speed as accurately as possible with a minimum percentage of errors. The system consists of the following elements:
- The speedometer itself is a completely electronic device with a minimum number of mechanical parts. It works using signals received from the on-board computer.
- An on-board computer, a device necessary for calculating incoming data.
- A system of electrical wires that provide power to the speedometer components.
- A fuse is necessary to protect against electrical overloads and short circuits.
- Speed sensor, the main element of the system. It is used to calculate the speed characteristics while driving.
So, next we’ll look at how the whole system works. Its main element is the speed sensor or EMF. The device operates on the principle of a Hall ignition and distribution system. The EMF is installed on the gearbox near the flywheel. The flywheel has a special risk. When this risk passes by the EMF, the contact inside the sensor opens. This creates an electrical impulse. As the speed of the vehicle increases, the number of such “openings” increases, which means more pulse discharges are created.
The pulses are sent through the wire to the computer, where the number of signals per unit of time is automatically calculated. Secondary confirmation comes in the form of pulses from the crankshaft position sensor. The on-board computer transmits the received data to the receiver - the speedometer drive. Depending on the magnitude of the received signals, the drive deflects the instrument needle by a certain degree.
The system is very reliable; it allows the on-board computer, based on the data received, to distribute the amount of combustible mixture into the engine, regulate the mixture of gasoline and air, maintaining optimal engine speed. Next, the symptoms of damage to the electronic speedometer of a Lada Granta will be described.
Common causes of fuse failures
- Natural factor - due to long-term operation of the technical device;
- Mechanical damage, accident, impact, collision;
- Short circuit in the circuit;
- Damage to insulation, oxidation of terminals, loosening of contacts;
- Water entering the mounting block, condensation formation, deformation due to high operating temperature.
Replacing fuses on Lada Granta
- Flat head screwdriver;
- A set of new modules;
- A driver with a "10" head.
Sequence of actions when replacing the mounting block:
- We place the car on a flat, spacious area, turn off the engine, open the hood, remove the terminals from the battery;
- The power supply unit is located to the left of the steering column, unclip the cover and lower it down;
- We unscrew the bolts, unclip the connectors with the wires, and remove the board;
- We carry out troubleshooting, check the integrity of each of the modules: visually, and also using a multimeter. Violation of the integrity of the melting plate is the first sign of a malfunction.
After we have found and replaced the modules, we assemble the structure in the reverse order.
If you practice installing modules without dismantling the power supply, then it is enough to remove the modules one by one, check the integrity of the melting plate, replace them with new ones, and install them in their original place.
It’s easy to find a damaged fuse with a multimeter; you need to connect the terminals to the contacts and look at the arrow indicators. If the latter tends to “zero”, replace it with a new one.
Provided that the manufacturer's recommendations for operating the technical device are followed, the average lifespan of the fuses is over 40 - 50 thousand km. If foreign components are installed, the replacement interval will increase by a third.
When purchasing, check the catalog article numbers and consult with service station specialists regarding the compatibility of components.
The relay and fuse box is also called the mounting block or black box. If problems are identified in the car related to electrical equipment, first check the fuses and relays. If they burn out, we replace them with the same ones, but first we must determine the cause of the burnout.
Why doesn't the instrument panel light come on?
I'll give you an example from my life. In the summer, a friend and I were going fishing in a VAZ 2115. On the way, before arriving at the place, the dashboard lights stopped shining. The malfunction during the day would seem insignificant, but in the evening and at night the driver in this situation cannot concentrate his attention on the instrument readings, which means that the malfunction had to be eliminated.
What to do in such a situation when you need to look for the cause of the malfunction? There were spare bulbs, but no fuses. Or maybe the reason is not in the fuses, but in a break or lack of contact? In general, it’s hard to immediately understand where to start. That is, we asked ourselves a question with a single thought: how to determine, in this case, a malfunction?
conclusions
In fairness, it must be said that there are many other reasons that can lead to similar problems.
For example, this could be a breakdown of the crankshaft sensor or poor contact of the main relay. Then the fuel pump will simply refuse to turn on.
If you do not hear the sound of the fuel pump running when you turn the ignition key, the engine will not start. As paradoxical as it may seem, quite often this is due to the crooked hands of alarm installers at dealership centers.
But, even if all mechanical parts are inspected and tested for functionality, and the problem remains, there may be reasons for this too. Most often, they lie in the operating features of the car’s “computer”. In particular, we are talking about its damage by moisture or other reasons. Here an electronic check (diagnostics) will come to the rescue, which involves reading fault codes and resetting them. It also happens that even repairs are not needed. It is enough to reset all system error messages, after which the car will start the first time.
And, of course, the reason may be low-quality fuels and lubricants, which must be monitored especially carefully.
