Adjusting and lubricating standard VAZ 2107 door locks does not completely eliminate the problem, making the locks quiet and silent, “like on a foreign car.” Here it is necessary to replace the locks with fundamentally different ones. There are two options to get out of the situation:

• installation of locks from VAZ 2108 or foreign cars;
• installation of silent locks VAZ 2107.

In the first case, you have to do a lot of work to fit the “non-original” locks to the doors of the “Seven”. The second option is simpler in terms of installation, but such locks are more expensive and slightly less reliable due to the use of plastic parts in the locks. The advantage of this solution is the almost silent operation of the new lock.

Installation of door locks from VAZ 2114 to VAZ 2106

Some car enthusiasts take a more economical route and install silent locks from the VAZ 2114. This is done as follows:

1. We saw off the “flag” of the lock.
2. We dismantle the old locking mechanism of the “six” together with the connecting consoles and put it in the reserve area.
3. Drill out the bottom door hole on the left. We apply the lock from the inner plane of the door, mark the drilling point where the lock sleeve of the upper fastening will be located. If necessary, we process the marking socket with a round file.
4. We install the new locking unit in the landing position.
5. We assemble the product. Perhaps the “chocolate” will interfere with assembly with its emphasis on the rack, but we’ll leave that for later.
6. Using the same file, we adjust the right through hole from below, which will entail the correct operation of the door lock.
7. We disconnect the outer lining of the product and slightly sharpen the 2 metal bushings at the end of the door, which are where the fasteners are installed.
8. We sharpen the angle of fastening of the locking device, periodically checking the compliance of the angular values.
9. We grind down the screw tops to tighten the locking device to a level below the plane, “flush”. Upon completion of the work, we assemble the locking mechanism. Next, we connect the rods to the lock handles.
10. When closing the door and there is a problem with the protruding “chocolate”, it is necessary to make a high-quality adjustment of the locking device, after which we fix the screw connection.
11. Using chalk marks, we determine the position of the screw connection when closing the car door.
12. We drill the front plane of the rack, use a tap to apply an M 10 threaded connection along the hole with a step of “1”.
13. Then we drill through holes in the front walls of the rack of the appropriate diameters, followed by cutting the internal threaded connection and installing the screw in the rack.
14. We proceed to installing the lock drives and operating the device handles.
15. We cut off the drive rod of the side-type handle from the removed device. We bend one end at a right angle, and bend the other into a ring configuration.
16. We connect the internal action handle via a clamping cable.

After this, the VAZ 2106 locks will operate relatively silently.

Installation of silent locks or locks VAZ 2108 on VAZ 2107

To replace the locks you will need:

• door locks VAZ 2108;
• long mounting bolts for locks;
• bolt (rod installed on the rack) from VAZ 2108;
• drill;
• round file;
• drill for 10;
• pliers;
• screwdriver;
• set of keys.

To replace the lock, you need to do the following:

• Unscrew the door handle mounting bolts.
• Unclip the window handle.
• Remove the window lifter handle.
• Unclip and remove the door trim.
• Dismantle the old lock.
• Remove the fixing element from the stand.
• Drill out the bottom hole for the lock.
• Attach the VAZ 2108 lock and mark the location of the hole in the upper bushing of the lock.
• Use a round file to bore the hole in the door to the size of the lock being installed.
• Install the inside of the lock.
• Screw on the outer part of the lock.
• Check if the door closes.
• If necessary, adjust the position of the lock.
• Use pliers to bend the old lock rods so that they fit the new one.
• Rotate the rod fasteners on the lock cylinder 180 degrees.
• Bend and install the remaining rods.
• Check the functionality of the lock and rods.
• Mark the position of the bolt on the strut.
• Drill a hole for the bolt and cut the thread to 10.
• Screw the bolt into the rack.
• Install the trim.
• Screw the door handle.
• Latch the window handle.

Preparing to install locks

Now we slightly move the upper part of the lock and again install the bolt in this hole. Why are we doing this? Everything else is logical. We remove the remaining bolt, dismantle the lock, and install a new one using the same scheme.

Final point. All we have to do is remove the old bolt holding the lock on the door and install a new one.

Now you can check the result of your work. The same must be done with the remaining doors.

Problems with door locking are usually caused by a lack of clearance between the lock and the post, or the lock and bolt being incorrectly positioned relative to each other on the post.

• Drill a hole first with a thin drill, then with an M10 thread drill.
• Cut the thread.
• Tighten the bolt so that it does not rub against the door and does not interfere with its closing.
• Check the functionality of the door lock.
• Secure the bolt with epoxy glue so that it cannot unscrew spontaneously.

In the future, when the door moves during operation of the car, the VAZ 2107 silent locks are adjusted by changing the position of the lock in the door. To do this, you need to loosen the fastening bolts and unscrew the lock.

Removing old locks

To remove the old lock, you need to unscrew the five bolts located at the end of the door. They hold the lock itself and the window lifter guide.
