When looking for a budget car, the main focus is on the offer of the domestic automaker. A special story about the presentation of the new generation concerns Lada Granta.
In 2022, the new model is available at a price of 389 thousand rubles and this is the cheapest offer that can be found on the new car market. The domestic automaker supplies this model in 8 trim levels. At the same time, the difference in price between the most expensive and cheapest offers is almost two times.
First impression or exterior
“X” – front bumper graphics. This innovation most clearly indicates the latest generation model from LADA. The trend of the future is immediately visible to the naked eye. We already have a worthy competitor to some inexpensive foreign analogues, at least from an exterior point of view. A young driver often likes this design, but everything is individual.
Other striking details include expressive lighting technology and an updated trunk topography. The roof has a smooth transition to the trunk, but on the driver’s side there is a sharp rise. We can immediately talk about increased space above the head of the rear passenger, as well as free access to the trunk from the street.
Two solutions from the manufacturer gave it a sporty look:
- Rising sill line.
- Sloping roof.
Of course, there is not much sportiness, but it is present here. New 15-inch wheels, better angle for washer nozzles, sculpted curves along the entire body. Getting to work with such a car is a pleasure, because it will emphasize the slightly elevated status of its owner.

The new Liftback, in addition to the cool shape of the rear part of the body, also boasts a spacious and practical trunk. The huge rear door and the ability to fold the rear bench allow you to carry even very long things. Under the trunk floor there is a full-fledged spare tire with a reliable jack.

The configurations vary quite a lot from each other. In general, the interior turned out to be predominantly dark shades.
Practicality is felt in every detail: dark plastic and upholstery help to better keep the interior clean. On a pleasant note, it is worth noting the appearance of an updated screen between the wells on the dashboard. The graphics have been brought to a level where nothing interferes with reading information on a sunny day.

In the interior of the Lada Granta liftback, a more solid front panel appeared, which migrated from the Kalina along the way, receiving a number of changes. The new radio with a monochrome display is the head unit of the center console. But the first thing the driver will see is a completely different instrument panel. The tachometer and speedometer are framed by a bright orange dial, and in the middle there is a monochrome on-board computer screen. In principle, it was present before, but now the screen has increased in size and a different backlight has appeared. But that’s not all, because now the driver will feel a new seat with increased lateral support and a function for changing the seat height. In general, the base is 2476 mm. The ground clearance varies depending on the configuration, so it is worth taking this nuance into account: from 145 to 160 mm.
Fortunately, the luggage compartment is the same for the entire liftback model range: 440/760. The capacity will be enough for the average family man, if you do not consider the car as a cargo transport.
New Generation
The “second” Grant will use the modernized Globak Access platform ( B0 ), developed by Renault. The same platform is planned to be used in the next generations of Logan.
Interestingly, the Renault platform being prepared for the new Granta is quite universal - it will also be used in the next generation of the off-road Lada 4x4. This solution is not new and has already been used in the Duster and Logan models.
All cars using the same platform will roll off the Togliatti assembly line. By 2022, Renault, which owns the domestic AvtoVAZ, plans to increase car production volumes, bringing them to a million units per year in numerical terms. All produced models will receive a unified platform.

New body and prices
It’s too early to talk about the appearance and prices of the new Granta: the design is still in the process of development, and the cost is of course expected to increase: AvtoVAZ is gradually moving away from the image of a manufacturer of budget cars (just look at the prices of Vesta and Xray), how far it will go - time will tell .
release date
According to some data, the next Granta will appear by 2023 , but there is information that this could happen earlier - by 2021 . It is already known who will lead this project. Vasily Batishchev, who was still working on the creation of the “first” generation, was appointed chief engineer, and Olga Bazhanova, who was previously responsible for Priora, will become the project manager.
LADA Granta liftback configurations

- Comfort – 531 thousand rubles;
- Luxe – 583 thousand rubles.
The largest number of configuration options is for Luxe: 10 positions with their own set of options. Prices vary, so there is plenty to choose from. Start from 451 thousand rubles.
The maximum configuration will cost almost 200 thousand rubles more. – 639 thousand rubles. Neither configuration has any advantages over its analogues.
The driver has to make the most difficult choice on his own, based on the desired level of comfort and safety. Although, to be fair, it should be said that all trim levels are good in their own way, because the prices correspond to their level of equipment.

There was no significant increase in prices for the coupe-shaped body, but this version is still 15 thousand rubles more expensive than the regular Granta sedan. In total, 14 trim levels with three types of gearboxes and three 1.6 liter engines of varying power will be available to buyers. Last December, the Russian manufacturer made an official statement regarding the “moving” of the budget model to the Tolyatti Automobile Plant.
According to AvtoVAZ management, the Lada Granta in a liftback body will be produced at the Kalina assembly and body production plant. The planned number of cars is not yet known.
Changes in the new Lada Granta Liftback body in 2022
This car has become in demand in various countries, in connection with this, the giant of the domestic automobile industry decided to restyle it.
A lot has changed, but the most important differences are:
- Large air intakes at the bottom of the front bumper for good engine cooling;
- The front optics have a unique oblong shape, which harmoniously combines with the radiator grille;
- “Recessed” fog lights at the bottom of the bumper;
- The rear headlights have been greatly transformed and are perfectly combined with the overall concept of body restyling.
Salon
There are no changes observed inside the car either. The new Lada Granta liftback 2022 model year is finished exclusively with simple materials such as fabrics and plastic. Some multimedia equipment is present here only in a rich package. Owners of the basic version will have to be content with only audio preparation, the quality of which also leaves much to be desired.
The center console here takes up a lot of space, although there are practically no parts to customize the car. A third of the entire area is allocated for deflectors. Below them is the main part, on which there can be either a radio tape recorder or a multimedia system monitor. Even lower is a massive panel with washers for adjusting the heater and air conditioning, if provided.
The tunnel, which is almost completely filled with various shapes and sizes of holes for storing things, is not impressive either. Those that have a round shape are unlikely to be suitable for installing glasses, since they are very shallow. In addition, here you can also find a gear shift knob, a massive parking brake handle and even an armrest, but only in the extended version.
Unfortunately, the seats installed here do not allow passengers to feel comfortable. They are small in size and quite rigid. Also, the seats are made only of simple fabric, which is not the most pleasant to the touch. The range of additional equipment is also small. The first row is equipped only with heating, headrests and mechanical seat adjustments in two directions. The rear sofa causes even greater panic, since it is very small and allows only two passengers to sit more or less comfortably. There are no options for them at all.
A nice feature here is the presence of a fairly spacious trunk. Its capacity is up to 440 liters, which is a lot for a liftback. If you remove the back of the rear sofa, another 760 liters of space will be freed up for things. As the test drive shows, this is quite enough for various long-distance trips.
Appearance
For most AvtoVAZ cars, appearance is now the main advantage, and the Granta liftback is no exception. The new body will take almost everything from the regular version, with the exception of the design of the rear, which can be seen even from the photo.
The front part of the car here, like that of the sedan, is completely taken from Vesta. Here you can find a short but slightly inclined muzzle, decorated with a bunch of interesting solutions that the residents of our country liked so much. It all starts with the hood, a large area of which is covered with minor protrusions and indentations. Next is the signature X-shaped bumper, trimmed inside with plastic and with chrome lines around the perimeter. Its upper branches are filled with headlights, which have an almost rectangular shape. They can only illuminate the road with the help of halogens. The optics are connected to each other by an air intake grille consisting of several horizontal stripes and decorated with a chrome Lada company badge.
Below you can find several more bright decorative elements. These include additional air intakes, a small amount of relief, and fog lights installed in the side recesses only in the extended configuration. In general, it all looks very stylish and is simply bound to appeal to both young drivers and adults.
