Two engines with 8 and 16 valves with a power of 87 and 106 hp. working volume 1.6 liters. Boxes are mechanical or robotic. After the release of the updated version, the appearance of the cross-sedan has not changed. Lada Vesta Cross, as before, stands out due to its X-shaped body layout. Lada Granta has a new 90-horsepower engine
Grant's basic eight-valve engine was changed. This is the same unit that recently debuted on the updated Largus. Moreover, the new modification was included in the Grants certificate back in February, but only now AVTOVAZ announced the start of sales of cars with a different engine.
The unit with the VAZ-11182 index has quite a few differences from the previous VAZ-11186 model. It has its own cylinder head with modified exhaust ports, a different combustion chamber and cooling jacket. The camshaft has a reduced cam width. The pistons are borrowed from the VAZ 1.8 engine, and the valve tappets and valve stem seals are from the Renault K7M engine. The compression ratio has been increased from 10.3:1 to 10.5:1. - At 110 km/h in 5th gear the engine runs at 3000 rpm.
- The fuel consumption of the VAZ 11182 engine (90 hp) is 1.5 l/100 km less than that of the VAZ 21129 (106 hp)
The cylinder head cover was previously secured with two bolts. Now it is attracted at six points along the perimeter. This improved the tightness of the joint and, in combination with a new gasket, should rid the engine of the old VAZ problem - oil fogging at the interface with the cylinder block. The crankcase ventilation system has also been changed. A more efficient oil separator reduces engine oil consumption.
Valve adjustments need to be done less frequently, but this procedure is now more complicated. So, for adjustment, it is necessary to dismantle the timing belt (but still change it at the same 90,000 km) and the camshaft, and instead of cheap washers, you need to purchase new pushers of a pre-calculated size.
By reducing the thickness of the rod from 8 mm to 5 mm, the valves began to weigh less. The camshaft lost in the width of the working surface (from 15.3 mm to 11 mm) and the width of the cams (from 17.7 mm to 6 mm). Instead of eight counterweights, the crankshaft was left with only four: how this will affect the resource is a question.
AvtoVAZ promises savings due to the new engine of 4,900 rubles per 20,000 km. Of these, 2000 will be saved by reduced gasoline consumption (by approximately 200 ml/100 km), 2900 will be saved by the valve adjustment procedure. The factory is being disingenuous about the cost of adjustment. According to the recommended prices for maintenance, it costs 1700-1800 rubles. And this saving is every 30,000 km. But maintenance - 90,000 km for a new engine is already more expensive: 21,300 rubles versus 18,300 rubles. And this despite the fact that the cost of new pushers is not included in the base price; you will have to pay for them on top.
The motor has become on average 2.4 dB quieter and vibrates less. The throttle assembly and fuel rail have been changed. The thread diameter of the candles was reduced from 14 mm to 12 mm. The pistons have increased overall height, the height of the fire zone and the length of the skirt. However, the total mass remained the same. The engine remained “plug-inless”, with recesses in the pistons.

“Maximum” is available on the Russian market at a price starting from 575.8 thousand rubles. The manufacturer included in the list of its equipment front foglights, front seats with height adjustment, remote control key, rear electric windows, cruise control, climate control, and standard alarm system.

Appearance
As you can see in the photo, most of the car's design remained untouched. However, the new body also boasts some improvements, thanks to which the car will become both more attractive and more functional.
The most changes can be found on the front of the car. As before, it is located at a low height and has medium dimensions. There is also a tilt, which allows any driver to feel comfortable behind the wheel and perfectly assess the situation on the road. The increase in the amount of relief immediately catches the eye. Already on the hood you can find several smooth transitions in height, which are located on the side parts of the lid. As before, the main part of the bumper is decorated with an X-shaped air intake, inside of which all the parts are made of plastic and painted black. Only in the center the perimeter of this structure is distinguished by chrome trim, as well as the Lada brand badge. On the sides, the air intake is decorated with massive headlights, which take on an even more aggressive shape and are located at a large angle. Unfortunately, they will still have only halogen filling in any configuration. There is now a little more relief here, thanks to which the bumper has a brighter appearance.
The body kit has also changed a bit. It has been replenished with some relief, which is distributed over its entire area, and also includes a long air intake made in the form of a strip. In the center there is a grille that improves the cooling of the engine compartment, and on the sides you can see small round fog lights. There is also a much larger variety of sensors for electronic assistants.
The car's profile has undergone virtually no major changes. Still here you can find a bunch of wavy relief, concentrated mainly on the doors. The main detail here is a wide strip of windows, which will now be framed by a slightly wider line, painted in gloss black. The dividing posts are also painted in the same color, and they have also become somewhat wider. The rear view mirrors have slightly increased in size and also acquired a more triangular shape. Now in the database they will be able to boast of the presence of turn signals, as well as a handle painted black. Further, the body is decorated with a slightly protruding strip located approximately in the center of the doors, which is painted either in the color of the car or finished with unpainted plastic, as well as slightly inflated wheel arches.
A little more transformation can be found by looking at the rear of the car. It is located slightly higher than before the update, and has also become somewhat shorter. The trunk lid was replenished with a small protrusion located at the very end, and also received an abundance of relief. Next you can see large chrome plated nameplates, bright marker signals placed on the sides of the door, and stylish height transitions. A lot of space is allocated here for body kit, but it cannot boast of an abundance of decor. Here you can only find a black diffuser and sensors.
Specifications
The 2022 Lada Granta is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive and semi-independent suspension, with MacPherson struts in the front and a torsion beam in the rear. The braking system is represented by disc and drum mechanisms.
The engine range is petrol. The volume of all units is 1.6 liters. They differ only in power and gearbox. In basic versions, the manufacturer offers installation of an 87-horsepower engine with 140 Nm of torque. It works exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission. The car reaches the first 100 km/h in 11.6 seconds, and the maximum speed is 180 km/h. In city mode, a sedan with such characteristics consumes 9.1 liters of gasoline; on the highway this figure drops to 5.3 liters.
The next engine is 106 horsepower. Its torque is 148 Nm. It is offered paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a robotic gearbox with a similar number of speeds. The sedan reaches its first hundred kilometers in 10.5 and 12.0 seconds, respectively, and the maximum speed is the same in all versions - 180 km/h. Average fuel consumption is 6.5 liters. The type of transmission does not affect this indicator.
The latest engine produces 98 hp. at 145 Nm of torque. Along with it, a 4-speed automatic transmission is installed. With this equipment, the sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 13.1 seconds, and the maximum speed is fixed at 165 km/h. In the city, fuel consumption is about 10 liters, and in suburban mode - 6.1 liters.
Review of the interior and exterior of the new body
The nose of the 2022 Lada Granta is decorated with a signature X-shaped radiator grille, flanked by refreshed head optics with a slight squint. The manufacturer also completely revised the design of the front bumper, crowning it with a massive air intake and chrome elements. A radical transformation of the “nose” required replacing the hood and front fenders. When examining the sedan's profile, designer wheels and large mirrors with turn signal repeaters also catch your eye.
The rear is complemented by a new trunk lid with a neat protrusion reminiscent of a spoiler. From now on, a platform for a license plate is placed on the lid. Finally, it is worth noting the design of the bumper. It stands out due to the black plastic insert, which slightly weighs down the image of the car, but does not spoil it.
The interior of the new product has a front panel that is already familiar to fans of the brand. The manufacturer replaced the standard backlight color with white, and the deflectors are made in the company’s corporate style. The dashboard is practically no different from the one installed on Vesta, with the exception of a few elements. The sedan's seats also went through a major update. The upholstery is made of higher quality material, and the lackluster lateral support will make itself felt on long trips.
What's new in Granta FL from the outside
You might think that the tail of the front end was pulled either from Vesta or from XRAY. But no, everything is here. New hood, slightly modified fenders, bumper, optics. It's funny, but the headlights for the Grant were developed in India, but they are produced in Uzbekistan. They haven’t become anything cooler or more efficient, and they haven’t even received the fashionable LEDs for daytime running lights today; the same light bulb remains in a small cell in the corner of the headlight.
The rear is purely Grant - the lights were left unchanged, but the trunk lid is new, now with a niche for the license plate. And the bumper accordingly.
In general, according to the standard restyling scheme, the front and rear attachments have been updated, but the central part, and even the base itself, is still Kalinovsky, without changes. This does not at all resemble the concept of All New, as the manufacturer claims. By the way, about the Kalina model. As you know, she no longer exists. And on the hatchback and station wagon body, which were left as an inheritance, AVTOVAZ puts a new Grant face and glues other nameplates. This is such a cycle of models.

The body is well assembled. The gaps are small and practically do not differ from each other. Bumpers, optics and body props fit tightly and flush. The doors open and close with a slight but not straining force. But to close the trunk, you want to lean harder. Clap! Closed.
How is it painted? Among the top negative reviews from the owners of “Grant” is traditional, i.e., poor resistance to saline winters in cities. Although the factory provides a guarantee against through corrosion for six years, nothing prevents the paint from starting to bloom. Iron will not rust to holes in six years, but during this time Granta is easily covered with “saffron milk caps” both outside and inside. Only time will tell how durable the paintwork on updated bodies is. But the answer seems predictable.
Granta looks unusual in metallic blue. The color, by the way, is called “blue planet” (418), but in our SRTS since January 2019 it is written as simply blue
