Lada Priora has a classic division of brake mechanisms - front disc and rear drum. Moreover, the catalog numbers of the brake pads on the Priora are identical to those offered for the second generation Lada Kalina. Here they are:

  • front disc brake pads - 11180-3501080-00;
  • rear drum brake pads - 21080-3502090-01;
  • rear drum brake pads (ABS) - 11180-3502090-10.

The difference between rear drum pads without ABS (anti-lock brake system) and with it is that the latter have special holes for the sensor . In general, the procedure for replacing the rear brake pads is the same for both options, you just need to remove the ABS sensor (one screw) and do not forget about the master disc during reassembly.

Another rather important point is that Lada Priora owners often buy analogue brake pads, rather than the original, which loses in the price/quality competition. To replace the original, it is most often recommended to use TRW, Ate or Ferodo pads, but at the same time, products from Pilenga and BM are more popular on Priora.

If we talk about reviews of brake pads for Priora, then it is worth noting the following points.

Ferodo brake pads are divided into “red” and “green” (according to the color of the packaging), they have different reviews. Ferodo Premier (“red”) are considered the best - they are stiffer, and the manufacturer positions them as comfort class pads. Ferodo Target (“green”) - softer, brakes worse, but is more gentle on the brake disc; they are a slightly improved version of the original pads.

Ate brake pads, and not only on Priora, are often spoken about in a positive way. As the owners note, they may creak at first, but then they grind in and brake perfectly when paired with the original brake disc.

Front disc brake pads

Front disc brake pads for the Lada Priora have the following dimensions: length – 104.4 mm, width – 62.1 mm and thickness – 17 mm. The cost of brake pads from different companies varies accordingly; it varies from 363-780 rubles.

I would also like to note that there are some points in the reviews about brake pads. Ferodo brake pads differ from each other in the color scheme of the packaging, there are red and green. The pads from Ferodo Premier, those that are red, are better than others, they are much stiffer, and their developer presents them in the comfort class segment. In turn, the manufacturer Ferodo Target produces other pads, their packaging is green, they are quite soft, and they work worse, but there is one plus that the brake disc will not be damaged as a result of braking.

There are often positive reviews about brake pads from the Ate company, and those that are used not only for Priora. Car owners report that after installing the pads they begin to squeak, but after running in they brake perfectly, and complete with the original brake disc.

Pads from China and Korea from Pilenga and BM are affordable, so you can freely buy them instead of the original.

Replacement

Replacement is carried out using a lift or on an inspection pit. Regardless of the location of the parts, we will need the same set of tools. It includes Phillips and flat-head screwdrivers, a deep socket for 7, long-nose pliers and pliers, spanners for 17 and 13. You may have problems dismantling the rear drum, so prepare a socket for 30 in advance. It is recommended to purchase a wrench for the “seventh” head .

Rear pads

  1. We lift the rear part of the Lada Priora and place additional supports. We remove the drum - it is held in place by two pins, which are shown in the photo below;

If you cannot install the drum after installing the new components, you will need to loosen the handbrake cable. You will find it under the bottom of the Priora.

Front

Before removing the front pads, it is necessary to pump out some of the brake fluid if it is at the MAX level. This can be done using a syringe. Also remove the front wheels.

  1. Using pliers, it is necessary to bend the edges of the locking plate;
  2. Now we have access to the bolt - unscrew it with the 13th key. If the bolt rotates, tighten it with a 17 key;
  3. Raise the caliper body and remove the front brake pads from the guide mounts;

When the replacement is completed, you need to press the brake pedal several times. After this action, the pistons will be securely locked.

Brake pads should be replaced on both wheels at once. Then Priora will brake normally even in emergency situations.

We jack up the car or lift it on a lift. Unscrew the rear wheel.

Adviсe

To ensure a smooth replacement, it is important to:

  • check the functionality of the entire braking system;
  • If the protective covers are cracked or otherwise damaged, replacement is required. It is better to use Uniol-1 lubricant or any high-temperature lubricant;
  • Do not operate the car immediately after replacement. It takes time for the pads to get used to the discs;
  • To make the grinding process complete faster, drive out onto a flat road and perform several stages of movement. Accelerate first and then slow down.

To change the pads, you do not need to take the car to a pit or overpass. To work, you only need a jack, with which you can easily remove the wheel. After studying the detailed instructions, you can easily replace parts yourself and save on it.

Installation of ALNAS R-15 front brakes on Lada PRIORA!

I recently decided to switch to 15th front brakes! After googling for more than one day, looking through a bunch of tests and reading no less a bunch of reviews and various chats, I decided to settle on ALNAS brake discs and brackets! I arrived at the Belais store, and here it is, happiness, lying there, showing off on the counter. We take it without hesitation. I decided to paint the calipers with a set of Foliatec paint, the color is a classic red gloss. The paint set is designed specifically for calipers and can withstand temperatures of 300 degrees C+.

The result is what happened!

I struggled a bit and finished everything at 00:30! but believe me, it’s worth the effort and time spent, despite the fact that tomorrow I’ll sleep a hundred pounds for work)))!

Tomorrow I’ll install the EDT, and I’ll post the results!

HOW TO CHOOSE GOOD DISC BRAKES FOR THE REAR AXLE

If, after weighing all the pros and cons, the owner decides to install the automatic transmission on the Priora with his own hands, then it is worth getting acquainted with such systems in order to choose the best option for himself. You will have a large number of options to choose from, from imported products from leading manufacturers to proposals for installing front brake systems from the same Priora. If frequent trips at high speeds are practiced. It is worth considering installing ventilated or drilled brake discs.

Article on the topic: Installing a thermostat from a VAZ 2109 to 2110. Location, replacement instructions.

Let me dwell on this option in more detail. When driving in extreme conditions, when frequent and sudden braking is possible, ventilated brake discs are cooled by oncoming air flow. For this purpose, they have special channels, through which the air flow carries away excess heat, while cooling the rubbing vapors. This eliminates the occurrence of smoke in the braking zone, and, as is known, the presence of a gas layer between the disc and the pad reduces the braking effect.

Perforated brake discs are also much better than standard ones. The presence of longitudinal grooves from the center of the disc to its periphery also helps to ventilate the friction zone of the pad and disc. Excess heat and wear products of rubbing pairs are removed through the existing grooves. They wear out more evenly.

This was a small digression, but on topic, let’s continue to consider the available systems for sale on the Priora. The systems of the Italian company Brembo, which were issued a certificate of conformity by the German Federal Bureau, have become very popular in the regions of Russia and other countries. Quality products have an appropriate price. The price of a disc alone can range from 9,000 to 11,000 rubles.

Very high quality product on the market

Once the choice of kit has been made, you can begin work on dismantling the old mechanism and installing a new kit. Below we will look at how the installation of the automatic transmission on the Priora is carried out.
