Let's say you stopped at night and you need to get something out of the glove compartment, you open it, and its space is illuminated. The little thing is quite convenient and necessary. But I didn’t notice such a small thing on my Granta (AvtoVAZ saved money on this too...price reduction policy...what can I say). I decided to install such a device myself. I needed: 1) Trunk light 1 pc. 2) Universal end cap 1 pc. 3) Wire with a cross section of 1.5 mm 1.5 meters 4) Female terminals 3 pcs. 5) Ring terminals 2 pcs. 6) Electrical tape, heat shrink 7) Fuse block 1 pc.

So, I powered the wiring from the ISO connector of the radio (white wire). Voltage appears on it when the dimensions are turned on. You can power it from any other instrument panel backlight wire (white wire). Initially, I decided that the light in the glove compartment should only light up when the glove compartment is open and the lights are on. You can, of course, get power from a constant plus, but who can guarantee that the glove compartment won’t accidentally open in the owner’s absence (you’ll drain the battery quite a bit if the car sits for a long time). The car should have as few permanent pluses as possible.

Instructions for activating the standard immobilizer

  1. Close the doors.
  2. Turn on the ignition with the RED key and wait at least 6 seconds.
  3. Pull out the key. The machine should blink at a frequency of 5 times per second.
  4. Quickly (within 5-6 seconds) turn on the ignition BLACK.
  5. 3 squeaks + 2 squeaks.
  6. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
  7. Quickly (within 5-6 seconds) while the car is blinking, turn on the RED ignition
  8. 3 squeaks + 2 squeaks.
  9. Turn off the ignition RED KEY IN THE LOCK.
  10. 1 squeak.
  11. Quickly (within 5-6 seconds) turn on the ignition for 2-3 SECONDS!

  16. Checking immo activation. We turn on the ignition with any key, if when you turn on the ignition the car on the dashboard does not light up, then the immo is activated.

  2. Red - ignition for 6 seconds - remove
  3. Black - ignition 3 beeps + 2 beeps - remove
  4. Red - 3 beeps + 2 beeps - ignition off - 1 beep
  5. Ignition on 2-3 sec - ignition off
  6. Do not turn on the ignition for another 10 seconds.

To resynchronize the codes, turn on the ignition of the vehicle. Wait 6 seconds. If the CL starts flashing once per second (error), turn off the ignition and wait at least 10 seconds. Then turn the ignition back on. The CL should not blink, but the engine should start.

If 3 seconds after turning on the ignition the key light remains on continuously, it means that the anti-theft function is not activated and the key learning procedure should be repeated again.

Illumination of the glove compartment can be done using incandescent lamps (we use the standard trunk light for mounting), or using LED strips (we fix them with clamps or glue). We will focus on the first option, but the only difference is in the installation.

It is not necessary to remove the glove compartment, but it is advisable, it will be more convenient to work. First, cut a hole in the back wall of the glove box for the lampshade; a utility knife is suitable for this. We install the lampshade into the cut hole.

Let us recall that in the previous article we discussed the issue of soundproofing the glove compartment, which will significantly help eliminate rattling noises inside the car.

In order for the light in the Granta's glove compartment to come on when it is opened, you will need a limit switch. We cut a hole and secure the end cap in the indicated location.

Power supplies

In the on-board network of the model we are considering, all pantographs operate at a voltage of 12 V and consume direct current. The electrical circuit for their switching is single-wire.

The wiring diagram contains components that are divided into 4 categories:

  • energy sources;

  • sensors

The “representatives” of the first two groups, with their negative terminals, are connected via wires to the body, which appears as “ground”. If we talk about the sources, then there are two of them in the car: the battery and the generator set. When the engine is running, the generator produces power, and when the engine is stopped, the battery is “occupied” with supplying the current collectors with electricity. The generator unit recharges the battery during its operation.

The principle of operation of the generator is quite simple. By means of a belt drive from the rotating crankshaft pulley, the rotor of the generator unit is driven in a circular motion. Thus, alternating current is generated, which is converted into direct current by means of a rectifier module. Over time, the rotor shaft bearings become unusable. They initially contain a lubricant, which gradually loses its properties. The stator of the device has a three-phase winding and is connected to the cover with four studs. There is also a voltage regulator in the generator unit. He monitors that this indicator is within 14.5-15.0 Volts. Note that the rotation ratio of the motor to the generator is 1:2.4. The maximum generated current is 85A.

Let's take a closer look at the rotor. Its field windings are connected by soldering to copper rings, which are located on the element shaft and provide contact. The voltage regulator is a non-separable part and if it breaks, it requires no alternative replacement. To protect the network from voltage surges that occur at the moment of ignition, a special capacitor is connected between the positive valve and the ground terminal.

When the motor is stopped, the battery supplies power to all required pantographs. This device makes it possible to start the motor. The electrical circuit of the Lada Kalina car provides for a parallel electrical connection of the battery and the generator set.

The negative terminal of the battery is connected exclusively to the body “mass” contact, and the positive terminal is connected to the corresponding “B+” terminal present on the generator.

Do not remove the battery while the engine is running. This action will lead to a drop in the mains voltage, which will lead to the failure of expensive pantographs.

The next day I turned to him for help on this issue. Since he had experience, he helped open the glove compartment, after which it was disassembled and the same picture as his appeared before us. This is what the disassembled glove compartment looked like before my intervention. Only the right linkage was removed. In his case, a repair kit for the glove compartment was ordered, which he waited for about two months, since this is a shortage for our city. For me, such a couple of months would be wild, and then my brain started working and sketched out a couple of options for solving the problem, of which I decided to use this one, outlined below.

I took a 3-piece bolt long enough to replace the damaged plastic rod. Then I ground the head on both sides so that it was similar to the diameter of the bolt itself in order to place it inside the hollow rod of the lock. Further, everything will be clear to you from the photographs. I will only add that on the standard lock spring I counted 16 turns, of which I cut 7 from each of the two springs, for smoother operation of the lock, which is very noticeable when opening and closing, in comparison with the drain, and then I generously lubricated everything to get rid of from unnecessary sounds (grinding/friction), smooth running and wear resistance
