Work progress

For work you will need sheets of plywood 8 mm thick. Cross members will need to be cut out of it. Below are approximate height and width parameters.

IMPORTANT! The top bar must be completed in 2 copies.

When the required pieces of plywood are ready, you need to cut grooves in them for installation. This solution will allow you to do without the use of sealant, glue or nails, and therefore the structure can be disassembled at any time.

After combining and trying on such a homemade organizer in the trunk of the Lada X-Ray, you will need to paste it with some soft material, preferably black. The best option for such work is self-adhesive carpet. However, you can fix the material with glue or a stapler. For complete pasting you need up to 1 m² of carpet.

In addition, the presence of a structure under the raised floor provides additional support for the floor of the crossover, and therefore heavy luggage can be transported with greater confidence.

Trunk characteristics

The new AvtoVAZ model Lada X Ray compares favorably with other cars of this manufacturer not only in appearance, but also in its impressive size:

With such dimensions, the designers were able to create a large, functional trunk without much difficulty:

An important parameter is the opening of the lid, which determines the dimensions of the transported goods. In Lada X Rey it is quite impressive: it is 80 cm high and 90 cm wide.

The X-Ray trunk lid can be easily opened using an electric drive; you just need to press the lock button. The tower is 181.5 cm above the ground, which allows most people to easily walk under it without fear of being hit. The absence of a rear trunk wall makes loading and unloading the car very convenient.

If you need to transport cargo up to 170 centimeters in length, you can easily increase the capacity of the luggage compartment by folding the rear seat backs, and its useful volume will increase to 1,207 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the trunk can easily be used to sleep two people of average height, who will be quite comfortable. If you need to transport a large amount of cargo, you can fold the right front seat, which increases the useful volume to 1,300 liters.

For ease of use of the trunk space, a raised floor is provided. If necessary, it can be easily removed, and the car owner has access to the lower floor covering and spare tire. Eye bolts are installed at the corners of the raised floor, serving as fastening elements for rubber halyards, nets and other systems designed to secure cargo.

Pocket organizer for children

The interior space of a family car should be comfortable for all family members, especially children. A children's organizer located on the back of the seats will help you organize small items conveniently and safely.

To make a bag you will need the following materials and tools:

dense wide fabric;
pieces of fabric for making pockets;
mesh for substrate;
finishing tape for edging – 3 m;
cord for fixing to a chair;
sewing machine;
measuring meter;
scissors, needles, threads;
children's fabric appliqués on an adhesive basis;
iron;
fixative, chalk or pencil.

First, you need to cut a rectangle from a large piece of fabric twice the required size, fold it in half and iron it. Bend the corners of the product or leave it sharp, depending on the previously prepared stencil.

To give the product rigidity, insert a backing inside the workpiece. The edges of the base need to be edged.

At the next stage, move on to making pockets. They are made using the same technology as the main bag.

PURPOSE OF THE SECOND RAISED FLOOR LADA XRAY

This accessory is installed on the skids on top of the lower (original or alternative) raised floor. Exact size matching allows it to fit without gaps in the XRay trunk. The product is made of thick plywood and can withstand local loads of up to 100 kg, so you can place any loads on it that will be significantly heavier than those that the original trunk floor can withstand. The outside is completely upholstered in carpet, is pleasant to the touch and fits perfectly into the interior of the luggage compartment.

It consists of three sections, fastened together with hidden hinges, and has a hole in the middle section for easy folding. Thanks to its folding design, it can be transformed in different ways to gain access to both the space underneath (things and tools can be placed between the upper and lower floors) and the spare tire and accessories under the lower floor. When folded, it forms a flat floor.

We increase technical indicators

All work related to the technical part is aimed at improving the driving performance of the car. First of all, the improvements concern the power plant.

The engines installed on this crossover are borrowed from earlier VAZ models. This means that they have already proven themselves well. But the technical performance of these installations leaves much to be desired.

This will increase power and dynamics, while consumption, if it increases, will be insignificant. This tuning will make the engine more stable in all modes. And the most important thing is that nothing needs to be changed in the design.

The essence of such tuning comes down to reflashing the ECU with the insertion of corrected system operating parameters into it.

But having decided on such a modification, it is important to use only proven and well-proven firmware

For those for whom the engine performance provided by chip tuning seems insufficient, it is necessary to slightly alter the power unit and install tuning spare parts.

Installing a sports intake manifold and timing tuning elements - camshafts and valves - will significantly increase the power of the power plant. Note that making design changes to the motor will necessarily require chip tuning in order to adjust the operation of the power system to new conditions.

Let's move on to the transmission. There's not much to improve here. The only thing is that you can install a self-locking differential on the version with a robotic gearbox.

This modification of the pseudo-crossover will not turn it into an SUV, but it will slightly increase its cross-country ability.

The suspension used also does not require improvement, since on X-Ray it is quite reliable and works well. But as its components wear out, you can replace them with similar ones, but with increased reliability. This will increase the suspension life.

Also, in the process of improving the technical part, you can do a little work with the brake system. Its tuning comes down to installing tuning discs and pads.

Which arch material should you choose?

As a rule, goods made from 2 materials are sold on the market:

Steel;
Aluminum.

Steel bars are usually rectangular and are the most affordable option. During the production process, they are treated with special compounds with anti-corrosion properties.

And these are rectangular arcs made of steel.

Aluminum is preferable, since arcs with aerodynamic characteristics are produced from this metal. Such arches are rounded (unlike rectangular steel ones), which provides a noticeable reduction in background noise in the cabin due to better streamlining. The corrosion resistance of aluminum and its alloys is also significantly higher than that of steel.
