How to check the power supply of the fuel pump VAZ 2110 injector 8 valves

On any passenger car with a gasoline engine, the gas pump serves to supply fuel under pressure from the fuel tank to the metering device - depending on the modification of the engine on VAZ cars, the fuel system can be carburetor or injection.

The fuel pump (BN) on carburetor internal combustion engines of the 2110 car is located behind the valve cover, next to the distributor-distributor; on a car with an injection engine, it is located in the fuel tank (submersible type). If the BN begins to malfunction, the engine does not pull or develop speed, and in many cases the engine cannot be started at all.

Why does the fuel pump on the VAZ-2110 8 valves not work?

If the fuel pump does not work when you turn on the ignition, the cause may be:

  • fuel pump relay
  • fuel pump fuse
  • the fuel pump itself
  • wiring
  • alarm (its blocking)

Let's talk about this now.

Fuel pump power supply diagram

The fuel pump module looks like this.

  1. When you turn the key, positive is supplied to the fuel pump relay.
  2. The relay closes and already supplies power to the fuel pump itself. There is also a fuse built into the circuit.

Often, when installing an alarm system, a blocking relay is also built into this circuit.

This is a diagram of the main electrical components - simplified to make it clearer.

Verification algorithm

You should start checking by inspecting the relay and fuse.

On older machines, the positive wire often frays and shorts to ground, which causes the fuse to blow. This is a common occurrence.

The fuel pump relay and fuse are located inside the panel.

To access the block you will need to unscrew 3 bolts. They are circled in red in the diagram.

The fuel pump fuse and relay are marked in the diagram.

The fuse can be checked with a multimeter, but it is better to buy a new relay, it is inexpensive.

Put it in the car, it may come in handy at the most inopportune moment.

Tips for motorists

VAZ-2109 passenger cars of the last years of production had injection engines, so on these “nines” an electric fuel pump was installed in the fuel tank. And on a small part of the VAZ-2109 with a carburetor engine still in use today, mechanical fuel pumps were installed.

Failure to operate the fuel pump on VAZ-2109i injection engines is determined quite simply, since when the ignition key is turned to the “ignition on” position, the driver simply will not hear the characteristic noise that the running electric motor of the fuel pump makes. Typically, drivers of “nines” begin their search for the cause of a fuel pump failure by checking the condition of the fuse that protects this electrical circuit.

It is located under the front panel shelf, which is located below the glove compartment. When you unscrew the fastening screws, the block of three relays and three fuses on the wires will move lower, so it will be more convenient to work with it. You will need to check the rightmost fuse and the condition of its contacts. If a blown fuse is detected, it will have to be replaced with a new one. And also find the reason why he burned out.

If the fuse is intact and the contacts are not oxidized, then the next step in troubleshooting is to check the functionality of the fuel pump relay. It is located in the same block as the fuse and is located on the far right. Drivers usually check it by replacing it with a known-good relay. If after such a replacement the fuel pump starts working, then you will have to purchase and install a new relay.

But when the fuel pump still continues to be “silent”, then you will need two wires four meters long. They are needed to check the condition of the fuel pump itself by connecting it to power directly from the battery. To do this you will need to: lift the rear seat cushion, remove the hatch cover, disconnect the plug block and connect the wires from the battery to the fuel pump terminals. There are three terminals in the block: one for ground, the negative one from the battery is connected to it, two more positive ones, for the fuel pump and the fuel level indicator in the tank.

If the fuel pump, when connected directly, works, then you will have to ring the wires going from it to the fuel pump relay, and if it does not work, then either replace it with a new one, or you will have to disassemble it and look for a fault inside the fuel pump.

On “nines” with a mechanical fuel pump, the most common malfunction is wear of the fuel pump diaphragm, as a result of which gasoline will leak through the drainage hole in the housing when it operates. The second reason for the failure of such a fuel pump is wear of the pusher, which transmits force from the camshaft cam to the fuel pump drive lever.

Checking the power supply at the fuel pump terminals

The fuel pump is installed in the tank. To access it you will need to remove the rear sofa cushion, it is not difficult.

The fuel pump is protected by a cover.

Fuel pump power supply.

When the ignition is turned on, there should be a voltage greater than 12 Volts at these terminals.

If there is no voltage, then you need to:

  • ring the ground on the body. This is a white and gray wire. It is convenient to check the continuity of the bolt securing the rear seat belt fasteners.
  • check the positive contact using a tester, or call it directly from the battery, etc.

Try to “fiddle” the wires; they often fray. The negative wire (ground) is connected to the handbrake bolt.

Check directly

It is necessary to carefully strip the wires and apply power to them. (As in the diagram)

If, when voltage is applied, the fuel pump shows no signs of life, then it is faulty.

Advantages of injection models

The main function of the pump is to supply fuel to the combustion chamber. It must meet certain requirements. The main criterion is pressure.

The pumps for injection and carburetor engines are different. Thanks to the engine with direct fuel injection, there is no need for preliminary preparation of the combustible mixture. As you know, the carburetor is the weak link. Difficult adjustments, clogged jets, difficult starting in cold weather create inconvenience for owners of classic VAZ brands.

Tens and VAZ-2112 internal combustion engines have significant advantages. Let us note the advantages of injection units:

  • support for environmental standards;
  • direct injection into the combustion chamber;
  • fuel economy;
  • system reliability;
  • increased engine power;
  • starting a cold unit without warming up;
  • dispensing a portion of the mixture;
  • The fuel module is controlled electronically.

Unfortunately, the injector has a number of disadvantages. Maintenance and repairs have to be carried out at a service station. It also requires qualified personnel and a computer to determine the malfunction of electronic components. Let us point out other disadvantages:

  • design complexity;
  • high requirements for the octane number of gasoline;
  • complex diagnostics and repairs;
  • expensive spare parts and equipment.

Master node of the system

The VAZ-2110 fuel pump is equipped with an electric drive. Its body is lowered into the fuel tank. Gasoline is both a pumpable fuel and a coolant. It should be remembered that traveling with an empty tank is fraught with overheating of the VAZ-2110 injector fuel pump.

This electrical device is an independent unit. Accordingly, its operation does not depend on the state of other mechanisms. A necessary condition for rotating the VAZ-2110 fuel pump rotor is maintaining normal voltage on the on-board network.

The voltage comes through the ignition switch. When the key is moved to position 1, the circuit is closed to turn on the drive. The VAZ fuel pump fills the fuel rail. The engine is ready to start.

Causes of wear

Replacing the electric fuel pump VAZ 2110

Often, fuel pumps are replaced when they deteriorate due to the use of low-quality fuel, especially for electric fuel pumps installed in cars equipped with injection engines. Whatever fuel pump you choose, you need to monitor the cleanliness of the fuel, since its service life depends on it. Many people do not fully understand why a fuel pump becomes unusable. There are actually several versions:

  • Due to low fuel level in the gas tank. Some experts argue that to maintain the tone of the pump, the tank must always be full. They also claim that the pump is cooled through the housing via fuel. According to the same version, a low fuel level greatly heats the pump windings, which subsequently burns out.
  • The second version is to use low-octane gasoline.
  • Version concerning additives contained in gasoline. Somehow the additives affect the internal parts of the pump, which is why it fails.
  • The latest version is the accumulation of dirt, sediment in the tank and other blockages that end up in the fuel tank. This can happen while refueling at questionable gas stations.

It is impossible to quickly and immediately determine if a fuel pump is broken, but there are important signs that can tell you what to take into account first.

  • The first thing to note is endogenous and exogenous damage. In the first situation, the operation of the gear and roller parts of the hydraulic supercharger stops. Exogenous damage includes a loud sound when the fuel pump operates and a decrease in engine power.
  • Most design engineers strongly advise against driving with a red flashing light indicating an empty gas tank, especially on hot days. Everything can be explained by the melting of the parts on which the brushes are attached. As a result, these brushes do not reach the commutator.
  • The gasoline pump can also be damaged when low-quality gasoline containing an admixture of solid particles is constantly poured into the tank. Based on the strong sound of the pump, you can understand that these solid particles are blocking the valve of the VAZ main fuel filter.

Any gasoline pump does not like the presence of moisture in gasoline. In winter, ice flakes can scratch the surface, and in summer, the density of the fuel and its lubricity decreases.

Note! In frequent cases, the fuel pump overheats due to short-term or systematic contact failures.

  • Causes of fuel pump malfunctions include the cessation of engine operation after the car falls into a deep hole on the road. In this situation, the emergency inertia switch is activated, through which power is supplied to the fuel pump.
  • The functioning of the fuel pump may be disrupted due to malfunctions in the ventilation of the gas tank, as well as fuel vapor recovery systems. If there is no contact between the gas tank and the air, a vacuum will form in the gas tank, which prevents the gas pump from taking gasoline. When uncorking the tank, there may be a loud draw of air into the fuel tank.

Note! In order to get to the service station without problems, it is not recommended to tighten the filler tank cap all the way.

Diagnostic device

To determine the pressure in the main line, a device is needed. It's easy to do it yourself. You need to take a 10 atmosphere pressure gauge, a fitting and an oxygen hose with an internal diameter of 9 mm. We twist all the elements and tighten them with clamps.

The meter is connected to the ramp. To do this, remove the plastic cap from the end of the tube. Next, use a tire cap to unscrew the nipple.

Bleed off excess gasoline. Before draining the flammable liquid, place a rag to prevent gasoline from getting on the generator. Smoking and using electrified tools near the hood is strictly prohibited.

The free end of the hose is pulled onto the ramp. Secure the clamp. After connecting the battery, turn on the ignition. They take readings. The pressure of the VAZ-2110 fuel pump injector will deflect the pressure gauge needle to 3 atm.

After starting the engine, observe the movement of the needle. On working equipment, the pressure will be maintained within 2.8-3.2 units. If no deviations are found, then the VAZ-2110 fuel pump, injector and regulator are working correctly. It is advisable to remember the characteristics of the equipment.

The pump capacity is about 2 liters per second. If problems arise with the fuel supply, the pump must be replaced. Before checking the pump, make sure that the remaining elements are in good working order. The filter or mesh may be clogged. The fuel filter is changed and the mesh is cleaned.

FAQ - Benzonaos

Hi all!
I changed the fuel pump motor and screen this week, so I decided to try to make a short instruction with a photo on how to replace the fuel pump motor. When the fuel pump goes bad, many people go and buy a new fuel pump assembly, but why pay more when you can just change the fuel pump motor?!

Our price for a fuel pump assembly is 1.6 - 2000 rubles _____Price for a fuel pump motor is 700 rubles

And so the difference turns out to be 1300 rubles, and literally 15 minutes more work! And why pay 1,300 rubles just for a plastic body, float and check valve?!

And so closer to the point:

1) Remove the rear seat, see in the middle under the rear seat a cover that is held on by two screws, unscrew them with a Phillips screwdriver and move it to the side

We see this picture.

2) Remove the chip, two fuel pipes and unscrew the eight nuts with a 10 wrench

3) We take out the fuel pump (when removing the fuel pump, it will need to be tilted towards the right rear door, since there is a float there and there will still be gasoline in it, it will need to be carefully drained so as not to flood the interior =))

4) We remove the retaining ring from the guides (it is not necessary to install the retaining ring; it is made so that when removing the fuel pump, the fuel pump will not come apart on its own =))

5) Remove the chip with the wires from the top inside and simply stretch the fuel pump so that the guides come out of their grooves

6) Next, we pull out the core of the fuel pump and look at this picture (to remove the core, you will need to snap off the grooves around the plastic body)

7) Remove the mesh from this core, pull off this holder from above and pull out the fuel pump motor

8) We remove the pipe on the fuel pump motor, take a new fuel pump motor, coat it with sealant and put the pipe on the new motor (the oak pipes there are difficult to remove; I heated them with a hairdryer and pulled them off)

9) We insert the motor into the core and put on a new mesh (the mesh has no tricks; it can be removed and inserted with little effort)

10) Install the core with the new motor as it was (make sure that all the grooves are latched and in place)

11) We insert the guides into their places, squeeze it and carry it to install it in the car!

I’ll share my limited knowledge regarding independent and quick diagnosis of the fuel pump
(the fuel pump may hum but not pump)
- If your car does not start, first check whether there is gasoline in the fuel rail. To do this, turn on the ignition, open the hood and on the left side of the engine you will see plastic cap, unscrew it, there will be a nipple there and press on it - if gasoline splashes from there, then the fuel pump is somehow pumping.

— If gasoline does not spray from there, then check the fuel pump fuse. It is located to the left of the front passenger’s foot under the panel. Unscrew this plastic cover and you will see three relays and three fuses, our distant one. You can also turn on the fuel pump forcibly; to do this, remove the plastic case from the distant relay and pinch the relay with your fingers

— If the fuse is intact, the motor is buzzing and there is no gasoline in the fuel rail, then remove the back seat, unscrew the cap on the fuel pump, remove the pipe that is closer to the right door, go to the switch and force the fuel pump on, if gasoline is pouring out of the fuel pump, then most likely the fuel pump is intact, if not, then you need to change the fuel pump motor

He described a method of checking without any special tools; it’s not ideal, but it may come in handy somewhere on the road or in the garage if there is nothing

Don’t forget to change your gas filters on time; the life of your gas pump depends on it!)

Removing the pumping unit

Before starting work, you must disconnect the terminal from the battery. This will prevent damage to electrical equipment. In addition, replacing the fuel pump may cause a fire.

Let's prepare tools and materials. To remove the VAZ-2110 fuel pump, you need the following:

  1. Screwdriver.
  2. 10mm socket wrench.
  3. Collar.
  4. Open-end wrench 13.
  5. Rags.

The device itself is located under the rear seat cushion. To get to the installation location of the fuel pump 2110, you need to remove the seat. Under the casing we find a hatch. We unscrew the hatch. Disconnect the electrical drive connector.

Using an open-end wrench, unscrew the tips of the fuel pipes. We pull off the pipes. Using a spanner, unscrew the 8 nuts around the perimeter of the clamping ring. Release the flange.

There is a gasket under the pressure ring of the fuel pump 2110. The gasket is removed. It is better to change worn tires.

Then we raise the VAZ fuel pump together with the float. Gasoline will leak from the body. To avoid staining the interior, place a rag. There will be up to 1 liter of gasoline left in the old building. Drain it into the tank.

Assembly is carried out in reverse order. There is an arrow on the top of the cover. It should point towards the trunk. This is the correct pump position.

When replacing, do not forget to remove the float and level sensor.

These spare parts are installed on the new structure.

All operations, including preparation, will take less than an hour. After replacement, perform a test. Start the engine. Finally, you should check the fuel pump, make sure the connections are tight and there are no leaks.

How to replace the electric fuel pump motor 2112 yourself

How to independently replace the electric fuel pump motor 2112 for cars of the VAZ 2101-02-03-04-05-06-07 (Classic), VAZ 2108-09-099 (Lada Samara), VAZ 2110-11-12, VAZ 2113-14- 15 (Lada Samara 2), Lada Kalina (VAZ 1117, 1118, 1119), Lada Priora (VAZ 2170, 2171, 2172), NIVA, Chevrolet Niva and their modifications with BOSCH, January, Itelma and Avtel controllers, except GM .
It's no secret that the heart of any car is the engine, or ICE (internal combustion engine), the result of which is the movement of the vehicle. Like a person, a car has a gas line that powers the internal combustion engine, only in the human body the heart also performs the function of a pump, this function in a car is performed by a gas pump. The gasoline pump ensures an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the engine; the saturation of the internal combustion engine and, as a result, its final power depend on its performance; problems may arise during operation:

— Failure of the fuel pump;

— Contaminated fuel tank.

The electric fuel pump motor 2112 BOSCH is of submersible type, installed in the gas tank located under the bottom of the car body, in the rear seat area. When you turn on the ignition, you should hear the sound of its operation, since at this moment it raises the pressure in the fuel line of the engine power supply system. An electronic control unit, a fuel pump relay and a fuse that protects the electrical circuit of its activation from overloads take part in the operation of the fuel pump.

If, after turning the ignition key to the on position, you do not hear the sound of a running fuel pump for a short duration, then your car’s engine will not start. You need to start looking for the cause of this malfunction by checking the fuse. You need to look for it not in the mounting block, but in the interior of the car. To do this, you will have to unscrew a couple of screws on the right passenger side of the front console and remove the plastic shield. In this case, you will see three relays and three fuses standing in front of you.

Note: All work carried out on the car’s electronics is carried out with the battery disconnected, in order to avoid short circuiting of contacts or the appearance of a spark in a place where there may be gasoline vapors.

In the middle of this row there will be a fuel pump relay, and to the left of it there is a fuse that protects the electrical circuits of the fuel pump and injectors. We take it out and check its integrity, and at the same time it is necessary to look at the condition of the contacts in which it is located. If they are oxidized, they need to be cleaned. If the fuse is intact and undamaged, then you next need to replace the fuel pump relay next to it with a known good one, or ask familiar drivers for “ten”, or you will have to purchase a new one.

You can purchase the electric fuel pump relay 2112 from us!

If you install a security alarm on your car, which has a function to turn off the fuel pump, then the positive power wire of the fuel pump is cut and an additional relay is installed in its gap, which, in the event of a break-in, should turn off the fuel pump so that the engine stalls and does not start again. In this case, it is necessary to check this relay as well.

If in this case the fuel pump does not work, then you will have to check its functionality next. To get to it you will have to remove the rear seat cushion. Underneath it you will see a hatch closed with a metal cover, unscrew the screws securing the hatch and in the resulting hole you will see the upper part of the gas tank, where the gas pump is installed.

Disconnect the wiring harness and try to power the fuel pump directly from the battery. If it works, then the fault must be looked for either in the wires coming from the fuel pump or in the electronic control unit (ECU).

If your actions to eliminate this malfunction do not lead to success, then you will have to contact diagnosticians at a service station, since it is unlikely that you will be able to check the electronic control unit on your own.

All this indicates irreversible failure of the electric fuel pump motor.

The fuel pump and its role in the fuel system of the VAZ 2110

In the “ten”, as in other cars where power plants for fuel are installed, the gas pump serves as an element that pumps fuel in the “fuel tank-motor” circuit. It supplies gasoline to the metering component, the function of which, depending on the design of the fuel complex, is played by either a carburetor or an injector in the injection engine system.

In cars of different types of fuel supply, an electric fuel injector pump is used, or a mechanical fuel pump on carburetor modifications. Accordingly, in order to buy a gasoline pump, you need to know what type of gasoline units are installed and operated in a car that requires repair of the fuel system.

To buy VAZ 2110 fuel pumps, the price of which is affordable for most of our car enthusiasts, should be factory-made. Of course, this part for an injection engine is structurally more complex and costs more, but the price limits are very reasonable and acceptable within their limits. In addition, the fuel injector pump, the price of which is higher than its analogue on a carburetor engine, is technologically more complex and has a number of significant advantages.

Video on the topic

This article will talk about the purposes for which the VAZ 2110 fuel pump is used. As you know, the heart of any car is the internal combustion engine. With its help the car is set in motion. Among the main systems that are the most important in a car, the fuel system stands out. It is with its help that gasoline is supplied from the tank, which is located in the rear of the car, to the internal combustion engine. The fuel pump ensures uninterrupted pumping of gasoline at the required pressure. Moreover, the fuel pump operates in different modes, everything depends on the load on the engine itself, its saturation and performance. And don’t forget about the VAZ 2110 fuel pump fuse; if suddenly there is no fuel supply, check it first.

The principle of operation of the mechanism

Product diagram for injection engines:

Mechanical products are used in cars with a carburetor fuel system, where fuel is supplied under low pressure, and electric fuel pumps in vehicles with fuel injection equipment, where gasoline is supplied under high pressure.

1. Fuel pump on vehicles equipped with a carburetor as a dispenser. The drive lever (pusher) is in constant friction, but the diaphragm shifts to the lower plane only when it is necessary to fill the product chamber with fuel. The return spring moves the diaphragm to the upper position, thereby supplying fuel to the dispenser. Composition of a mechanical fuel pump:

  • Fuel filling chamber;
  • Inlet and outlet type valves;
  • Diaphragm seal;
  • Return spring;
  • Pusher (drive type lever);
  • Cam;
  • Camshaft.

2. Electric fuel pump on injection cars. Such a device is similar in operating principle to a mechanical prototype: the core is pulled into an electromagnetic valve until the contact group opens, blocking the flow of electric current. Composition of this product:

  • Fuel filling chamber;
  • Inlet and outlet type valves;
  • Diaphragm seal;
  • Return spring;
  • Electromagnetic valve;
  • Fuel pump mesh;
  • Core;
  • Contact Group.

For beginners, we inform you where the VAZ 2110 fuel pump is located: it should be looked for under the rear seat cushion of the car.

Models of fuel pumps for VAZ 2114/2115 cars

VAZ 2114/2115 cars are equipped with 1.5 cm 3 and 1.6 cm 3 gasoline engines with a distributed injection system. A submersible electric fuel pump is used to supply fuel. It is part of the fuel module installed at the top of the gas tank (under the rear seat). In addition to the pump, the module includes a fuel accumulator (cup), a coarse filter and a fuel level sensor with a float.

To supply fuel in VAZ 2114/2115 cars, a submersible electric fuel pump is used

The VAZ 2114/2115 fuel pump is a conventional DC electric motor in a sealed housing with a one-way valve at the outlet. An impeller of a special shape is located on the electric motor shaft. Its rotation ensures the fuel supply.

The fuel module includes a fuel pump, a fuel accumulator, a coarse filter and a fuel level sensor

The fuel pump is powered from the vehicle's on-board network. The electrical circuit of the pump, protected by a fuse, is closed using a separate relay.

Electric fuel pumps for VAZ cars are produced by both domestic (Utes, SAAZ, Pekar) and foreign companies. The latest modifications of the VAZ 2114/2115 are equipped with BOSH pumps, which are distinguished by their high reliability, long service life and relatively low price.

Design of the electric fuel pump VAZ 2114/2115

Catalog numbers of standard fuel pumps for VAZ 2114/2115:

  • 2112–1139009–12 - for engines with a volume of 1.5 cm 3;
  • 2112–1139009–01 - for engines with a volume of 1.6 cm 3;
  • 580453453 (BOSH) - for engines with a volume of 1.5 and 1.6 cm 3.

These models differ in operating pressure. The former are capable of creating a pressure of 2.8–3.2 kPa in the fuel system, the latter - 3.7–3.9 kPa. BOSH fuel pumps are rated at 3.5 kPa.

Signs of a fuel pump malfunction

Signs of unit malfunction:

  • a metallic howl or increased noise during its operation is detected by ear;
  • the product does not pump fuel or the contacts do not work;
  • The power of the power unit is sharply reduced.

First of all, we check the pressure of the “tens” fuel pump in the common fuel system by connecting a pressure gauge to the fitting. If the pressure in the product is more than 3.3 kgf/cm2, it becomes clear that the malfunction is a defect in the pressure regulator, which requires replacement. If the pressure gauge readings are less than 2.8 kgf/cm2, it is necessary to replace the fuel filter of the fuel pump, which caused the defect. If the car continues to act up, it is advisable to dismantle the fuel unit and clean the fuel filtration mesh.

In other cases, the VAZ 2110 injector fuel pump is replaced, because repair of the product did not give positive results. Also, when checking this electrical device, it is necessary to test the fuel pump relay, which is subject to elementary “sticking”. It would be a good idea to check the unit's fuse, which may also blow out and require replacement.

Pressure check

But we should not forget that the automaker wrote all its requirements based on the experiments carried out. If the gas pump does not pump fuel into the system at a pressure of 4 kgf/cm2, then the best way out would be to install a new element. Of course, it is quite possible that the filter at the bottom of the fuel pump has simply never been cleaned. If you replace it, it is possible that the level of pressure created by the VAZ 2110 fuel pump will increase significantly. And it will be quite enough for the car to have normal throttle response and dynamics when driving at high speed. Conventionally, you can carry out a small diagnostic of the fuel pump by disconnecting the fuel line from the ramp. When the power is turned on, a one and a half liter bottle should run to the pump in exactly a minute. Such a check is very relative; it can only be performed if there is no pressure gauge at hand or computer diagnostic systems.

Replacing the electric fuel pump

Such a replacement is carried out in the following cases:

  • failure or incorrect readings of the fuel sensor;
  • weak throughput effect or defect in the fuel intake grid;
  • failure of the electric fuel pump.

The tools you will need are a screwdriver and a 10mm socket wrench with a wrench.

  1. Reduce pressure in the fuel supply system.
  2. Using the fuel supply hose tip clamp, disconnect 2 hoses in turn.
  3. Disconnection should be carried out slowly, without using unnecessary force, so that the fuel block fittings remain intact.
  4. Unscrew the 8 nuts around the circumference of the clamping ring and remove it.
  5. A wire with negative polarity is attached to one of the nuts; it must be removed carefully.
  6. We take the electric pump block out of the fuel tank, tilting it slightly, to keep the fuel level indicator sensor lever intact, otherwise it will produce incorrect parameters.
  7. Remove the sealing rubber ring of the fuel block. If its properties are lost, the product must be replaced.
  8. Install the product in reverse order.

Important: during installation, the installation arrow on the electric pump cover must point towards the rear of the car!

Important: when installing fuel hoses, follow the direction of fuel supply indicated by the arrows!

Many people ask where the VAZ 2110 fuel pump relay is located? Let us clarify that this electronic device is located in a special recess on the front passenger side of the floorplane. You need to unscrew the plastic cover, there will be 3 relays. Closer to the hood is the required part.

Ground contact

Problems with the fuel pump weight can be indicated by incorrectly indicating fuel. Poorly secured ground can cause the fuel pump to stop pumping fuel. The ground wire is located under the dashboard and runs through the entire interior of the car. You need to find it, clean the contacts and secure it properly to the fuel pump.

Next to the ground, under the dashboard, there is
a fuel pump relay . After turning on the ignition, the operating relay allows the pump to create the required pressure in the system in a few seconds, after which it turns off. When you turn the key in the ignition, you can hear a soft click, which means that the fuel pump relay is turned on, and exactly the same when it is turned off.
If the relay does not make a click, then the problem is in it or in its contacts. Then it is advisable to replace it with a new one. When looking for the cause of a non-working fuel pump, you need to check the fuse. It is located under the hood and has a resistance of 15 A. It must be carefully inspected; if it is not working, it should be replaced with a new one. The fuel pump in the VAZ-2110 car is immersed in gasoline for active cooling, and the bad habit of driving a car with a minimum amount of gasoline in the tank can very soon cause the fuel pump motor to become inoperative due to burning.

Replacing a mechanical fuel pump

Unscheduled replacement of a mechanical type device takes place in the following order:

  1. We dismantle the air purification filter.
  2. Remove the fuel supply line to the fuel pump.
  3. First loosen the tightening of the clamp.
  4. Remove the fuel supply line to the carburetor.
  5. Unscrew the fasteners of the product.

Installation is in the reverse order. At the same time, do not forget to look at the arrows on the products showing the direction of movement of fuel to the carburetor.

VAZ 2110 fuel pump is a common cause of breakdown

The new VAZ 2110 models use injection engines, which are so popular today. To confidently drive any car, you need to know what can break down in it in order to quickly fix the breakdown or prevent it. The fuel pump of the VAZ 2110 is one of the most vulnerable points of this car. If the fuel system is not properly maintained, it will quickly fail.

The fuel pump in injection engines is very important, since it is the one that supplies the fuel injectors with the required pressure. If there is no pressure or it is incorrect, the injectors will supply fuel to the engine in the wrong dosage.

Fuel pressure is measured in the fuel rail using a special device.

In essence, the device for measuring fuel pressure on a VAZ 2110 is the same pressure gauge, only for measuring liquid pressure. If the pressure in the ramp on a VAZ 2110 does not fit into the values of 3.6-4 atmospheres, then the car is faulty and needs to be repaired urgently, as this can lead to failure of the fuel pump, if it has not already failed.

Symptoms of VAZ 2110 breakdowns

If suddenly the car begins to twitch at high or medium speeds, this indicates a drop in fuel pressure in the rail. The same applies to the case when the engine develops dips or even stalls.

The fuel pressure in the system can drop not only when the fuel pump fails, but also when the RTD or even the injectors themselves fail.

The fuel pump on the VAZ 2110 constantly pumps gasoline while the engine is running. In this case, excess gasoline is simply returned back to the gas tank through the return channel. It is on this channel that the check valve is installed. To check it, use a pressure gauge. After the engine is turned off, the gasoline pressure should drop gradually, not suddenly. The slower the pressure drops, the better the quality of the RTD valve.

Where are the fuel pump relay and fuse located?

The relay in every electrical circuit is designed to open and close the circuit; its primary role is to protect the elements of the electrical circuit from high inrush current. When starting the engine, the current required to turn the starter is 80-300 amperes, and if the relay is not installed, any element of the electrical circuit may fail.

On “tens” the fuel pump relay is standard, the plastic case has an electromagnetic coil and core, after applying voltage as a result of exposure to an electromagnetic field, the contacts close. On the VAZ 2110 the relay is four-wire and rated for a current of 30 A.

The fuel pump relay on the VAZ 2110 (injector) is located inside the car, under the instrument panel, near the center console. After removing the plastic protective cover, the relay responsible for the operation of the fuel pump will be in the center of three elements located in this place (in the figure, numbered 5). To the left of the relay is the fuel pump fuse.
