When to change spark plugs, which ones to install
Spark plugs for Largus 1.6 differ from each other only depending on how many valves the engine has. On cars with 8-valve engines (K7M, VAZ-11189), the manufacturer installs spark plugs under article number 7700500168. They have a regular nickel central electrode and two side electrodes. The same candles can be found directly from the manufacturer EYQUEM under the article number RFC58LZ2E. An analogue from a Russian manufacturer has article number 224013682R. These models are no different from each other and are interchangeable.
On Largus with a 16-valve K4M engine, spark plugs are installed under article number 7700500155. Unlike the previous spare part, these spark plugs have one side electrode, but they are nickel. The French manufacturer EYQUEM has the article number RFN58LZ. The Russian analogue has article number 224018651R.
On a Largus with a 16-valve engine, you can also install spark plugs with 2 side electrodes from an 8-valve engine, but not vice versa. On 8-valve valves, only 2-pin ones are installed. As drivers note, spark plugs with 2 side electrodes slightly improve engine performance by reducing vibration.

Which ones to choose
The Lada Largus has power units with 8 valves and 16 valves. The engines allow the installation of non-original spark plugs, but their parameters must fully comply with factory requirements, which include external characteristics:
- the leg must have an M14 thread;
- the length of the main part is 19 mm;
- The installation parameter must correspond to the 16th dimension of the socket (spark) wrench.
It is possible to use elements with one or more lateral electrodes. Manufacturers use alloys of chromium, iridium, nickel or platinum as materials in the manufacture of these consumable components.
If we consider analogues, it is recommended to opt for the “Motrio 224018651R” products. These candles are quite rare and cannot be found in some cities. Therefore, as a replacement, you can take a closer look at models such as:
- “SAGEM RFN58LZ” or “BOSCH FR 7 LDC+ 0242235668”;
- "CHAMPION RC87YCL" or "DENSO K20TTK20TT#4".
These consumables can be installed on 16-valve versions of 1.6-liter engines (K4M).
In this “spark” issue, the difference between LADA Largus engines with 16 valves and 8 valves is that in the first case, a separate coil “works” with each spark plug (there are 4 of them), and in the second case, all 4 spark plugs “serve” one coil. We also note the differences between the candles of the two types of units:
- type of products;
- sizes;
- gap size;
- heat number.
Factory recommendations
If we contact the manufacturer directly, he redirects us to the operating manual and service book of the car, where not a word is said about spark plugs. To top it off, he sends it to the dealer.
If you look at the Largus manual, then for the K7J and K7M engines Champion RYCLC87 and SAGEM RFN58LZ spark plugs are recommended, and without division into 8-cl and 16-cl.
When to change
According to the LADA Largus maintenance regulations, spark plugs are changed every 30 thousand km. But, as most drivers note, the actual service life of original spark plugs often approaches the 50 thousand km mark. If iridium spark plugs are installed, they usually last up to 100 - 120 thousand km.
Purpose and location of candles in Largus
Applying high voltage to the electrodes causes a spark and ignition of the fuel. The design is quite simple, but the materials from which it is made have special requirements. The electrodes must be made of a heat-resistant alloy that conducts current well. It is important that the insulator has high dielectric characteristics along with increased heat resistance. The housing must have a minimum coefficient of thermal expansion, otherwise the spark plug cannot be removed.
Devices for igniting the air-fuel mixture on all car models are located on the cylinder head. An important feature: when installing them, the central and side electrodes must be located directly in the combustion chamber. The formation of a spark occurs as a result of the supply of high voltage by a pulse transformer.
On K4M engines with a 16-valve gas distribution mechanism, this device is installed on each spark plug. This is in contrast to the 8-valve K7M engines, where there is only one ignition coil.
Spark plugs for gas engines: what to consider when choosing
Let's start with the fact that recently, against the backdrop of constantly rising prices for gasoline and diesel fuel, a car with a gasoline engine has truly become a mass phenomenon.
This option allows you to get the maximum benefit, since switching a gasoline car to cheaper gas makes it possible to significantly reduce fuel costs. It should also be added that even taking into account their high efficiency, they are more expensive than gasoline ones, and are also not without a number of their own problems. As for electric cars, such cars are still in the minority.
It turns out that in fact the only available alternative is the ability to convert the car to run on gas. At the same time, not all motorists, after installing LPG, take into account a number of features and nuances that arise after changing the type of fuel.
In other words, in order for the engine to operate normally on gas, and also to prevent reduction, it is necessary not only to correctly install and configure the gas system, but also to replace some elements and working fluids. More precisely, we are talking about, as well as about. If everything is more or less clear with engine oil, then difficulties may arise with candles.
Next we will talk about why to change spark plugs for gas equipment, as well as what needs to be taken into account and how to choose the right spark plugs for a gas engine.
As a rule, after installing gas equipment on a car, qualified specialists separately recommend immediately replacing the spark plugs. To replace, you should use special spark plugs for gas engines, which are slightly different from conventional ones. The need for such a replacement is dictated by the fact that ordinary candles are designed to ignite a mixture that consists of gasoline and air.
Conventionally, this mixture is more “dense”. At the same time, during the combustion of this mixture, a certain temperature arises.
If we talk about gas, the main differences are that the mixture of air and gas fuel has higher electrical resistance, as well as higher temperatures during combustion.
It turns out if you use ordinary
Selecting spark plugs for a car with gas equipment. What is the difference between gas and gasoline
After converting a vehicle to gas fuel (most often this is an installation), manufacturers of ignition systems recommend installing spark plugs for gas fuel on the car engine, designed specifically for operation on “CNG” and “LPG” (methane/propane). And indeed, some time after installing gas equipment, car owners notice a decrease in the life of spark plugs, coils, and high-voltage wires. In this article, we will understand the difference between spark plugs for gas and gasoline.
Should I install gas spark plugs, or should I limit myself to adjusting the gaps of standard parts? The main task of the vehicle ignition system is to ensure high-quality spark formation in all operating modes of the internal combustion engine.
Unlike gasoline, the combustion of a high-octane gas-air mixture in the combustion chamber of an engine occurs at an increased temperature and combustion time, and effective operation of the spark plug is possible only in a certain temperature range. In addition, a gas mixture (methane or propane) is more difficult to ignite; its ignition requires a more powerful spark, which causes an increased load on the car. To meet these conditions, the developers adapted the spark plugs specifically for operation on gas, where design solutions were applied:
- reducing the diameter of the central electrode;
- reducing the gap between the electrodes (the distance between the side and central electrodes);
- the use of materials for the manufacture of electrodes that can withstand temperature loads (platinum, silver, yttrium, iridium).
The listed parameters are already taken into account in expensive gasoline spark plugs, where the electrodes are also soldered with precious metals. They differ from gas ones only in the gap. Often after installing gas equipment on a car, the internal combustion engine begins to throttle, failures appear and gas consumption is higher than expected.
These phenomena can occur for various reasons, one of the options is misfires due to an increased gap in the standard spark plugs, due to burning of the electrodes when operating on gasoline.
How to replace spark plugs on a Lada Vesta car without the help of specialists?
Let us note several points at once. After the ignition system part is unscrewed, you should visually assess the gap between its electrodes. It happens that it is enough to correct it, and not resort to changing the entire set. AvtoVAZ has established a distance of 1-1.15 mm for igniters on its engines. For units on Renault-Nissan HR16DE/H4M, the spark plug gap should be within 0.85-0.95 mm . This way you can revive the product.
Types of engines and nuances of replacement
The technology for replacing spark plugs on a Renault Duster depends on the modification of the power plant. On pre-restyling versions, two types of gasoline power plants were used - 1.6-liter (K4M) and 2.0-liter (F4R).
On restyled crossovers, the K4M engine was replaced with a newer one - H4M, but the F4R was not changed.
The replacement procedure on the K4M and F4R units is almost identical, with the exception of one small nuance regarding the 2.0-liter engine. But on the H4M engine the algorithm is different, and significantly so.
2.0-liter engine (F4R)
Next, we will consider the complete algorithm for replacing spark plugs on a 2-liter F4R unit.
Equipment to perform the procedure will require:
- Set of heads with extensions and cranks;
- Spark plug head 16 (deep and preferably equipped with a rubber seal or magnet to hold the spark plugs);
- A compressor with a blowing gun (instead, you can use a can of compressed air used when repairing office equipment);
- A set of new spark plugs.
The operation is performed on a cold engine.
- Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery;
- We disconnect the chips with wiring from the coils (to remove, you need to press the latch);
- Using a blow gun or a can of compressed air, blow off dust from the collector and adjacent surfaces;
- Using a 8-mm socket with an extension and a knob, unscrew the bolts securing the coils and remove the latter;
- On the 4th cylinder, in addition to the coil, the bolt also holds the solenoid valve of the variable valve timing system. To remove the coil on this cylinder, after unscrewing the fasteners, you need to turn the indicated valve around the axis so that the eyelet for its fixation does not interfere with removal;
- We blow out the spark plug wells to blow out accumulated dust from them;
- Use a candle head to turn off the candles. If the tool has a magnet or rubber band, then we use it to remove it. If the head does not hold the spark plugs, then the ignition coil will help to get them out (after unscrewing the element, put the coil on it and take it out);
- We install new spark plugs and tighten them with a force of 25 Nm. If there is no dynamic key, then we proceed as follows - tighten it by hand until it stops, then turn it with the knob until it stops, applying medium force to it (you can’t pull too much, since you can break the threads in the head);
- We put the coils in place, fix them with bolts and connect the wiring.
As you can see, the operation of replacing spark plugs on a Duster with an F4R engine is not difficult; the main thing is to carefully blow out all debris and dust so that they do not get into the spark plug wells, and then into the cylinders.
Differences in carrying out work on the K4M engine, nuances
The technology for working on a Renault Duster with a 1.6-liter K4M unit is practically no different. The only thing is that on this engine, on the 4th cylinder, the bolt fixes only the coil, so no additional actions are required to remove it, just unscrew the fasteners and remove the part.
By the way, the K4M engine is very common and is installed not only on Renault Duster, but also Logan and Sandero, and is also equipped with Lada Largus. And on all these cars, the algorithm for replacing spark plugs is identical.
The work order is shown in the photo.
Now about one of the unpleasant features of Duster engines. The coils do not have seals, so they do not cover the spark plug wells, which is why dust gets into them, but this is not so bad.
Often, car owners of this crossover are faced with the fact that drops of windshield washer fluid leaking from the spray nozzles get into the wells of the 2nd and 4th cylinders.
The liquid does not affect the operation of the spark plugs, but it leads to the formation of corrosion on its body. If the spark plugs have not been changed for a long time, the rust may be quite severe. Because of this, when you try to unscrew the spark plug, particles of rusted metal often break off from the body, which, after removing the element, fall into the cylinder.
One option to avoid such a nuisance is to coat the rusted spark plug with grease (for example, Litol) before unscrewing it. This lubricant will "hold" loose rust particles and prevent them from entering the cylinder.
But in general, to avoid problems, you should change the spark plugs on Renault Duster more often to prevent severe rusting of their housing.
Characteristics of candles
The service life of candles does not particularly depend on the manufacturer, since we are not talking about stuffed technological equipment. In our case, this is a piece of metal of the correct shape with dielectric elements of the body. If the spare part meets certain requirements, then there is no need to fool your head.
- They should not lose their insulating properties at temperatures of a thousand degrees;
- Without interruption, they must provide a stable voltage of 40 kilovolts;
- Resistance to thermal shock;
- The metal must withstand chemical reactions at the installation site;
- The thermal conductivity of electrodes and insulators must comply with the standards.
When replacing, visually compare the old and new spark plugs.
Spark plugs for HBO 4th generation
› I dug up an article about spark plugs for LPG www.zr.ru/a/236580, well written, a lot of new information. I myself ride a Brisk LPG LR15YS Silve. Who rides what?
I also installed Brisk Silver and it seems fine. So far they are working... and what is the mileage approximately?) When I was choosing spark plugs for myself, I simply forgot about working on gas! (When I bought DENSO VK-20, I came to the gas maker, he said that they are the best for gas, only the gap for gas is better to make 0.8 mm, explaining like gas consumption will be less! I checked it myself, the consumption did not change with a gap of 1.1mm and 0.8mm.
As it gets warmer, I will return the gap to 1.1 mm.
Candles for HBO! There are NO such candles... this is nonsense... lies and scam! A candle is absolutely the same as setting fire in a cylinder... the temperature in the cylinder is not enough for self-cleaning. Ideally, you need to lower the heat value a little. for example, on UZAM instead of A20 you need A17 Spark plugs for HBO! There are NO such candles... this is nonsense... lies and scam!
A candle is absolutely the same as setting fire to a cylinder... I fiercely upvote! Naked marketing! Candles for HBO! There are NO such candles... this is nonsense... lies and scam!
A spark plug is absolutely the same as setting fire to a cylinder... under gas, you need to reduce the gap, if it’s increased, it starts to shoot, then the wires burn on you, I checked it more than once. Forgive me if I am carried away by the question of choosing spark plugs. I myself did not expect such negligence from myself, but the circumstances turned out that way. Immediately after purchase, the car ran on engine capital for about a month and a half.
At the same time, everything that caught my eye was ordered (blocks, traction, filters, belts, summer tires with rims, LPG, gas tank) but for some reason they forgot about the spark plugs, and at the time the engine was ready they simply weren’t available, they were installed stupid in size and approximately in parameters (NGK - 80 rubles / piece instead of 500 rubles / piece for iridium in the original). The installation of HBO was already planned in advance and the car immediately moved there.
Since then the mileage has been 15t.km, six months. The spark plugs have not been changed (and I don’t plan to yet).
Consumption is lower than many similar ones. A couple of times in the fall I went away for a week and left the car at the airport, and upon arrival I started it without any questions.
Which spark plugs to choose for Lada Vesta: factory opinion
According to Lada Vesta owners, NGK BCPR6ES spark plugs would be an excellent choice.
For an 8-valve engine : 14R-7DU–Ber, RN9Y–Champion, BPR6ES–NGK, W20EPR–Denso, LR15YC-1–Brisk, WR7DCX–Bosch.
For a 16-valve engine : AU17DVRM, DR15YC-1–Brisk, FR7DCU–Bosch, Q20PR-U11–Denso, BCPR6ES–NGK.
The question, of course, is not the name of the manufacturer, but the design features.
The wrong choice of these elements will lead to the fact that they either do not work or will not work.
Denso Q20TT spark plugs.
In addition, for the first option, a regular spark plug wrench is suitable, and for 16-valve models, a reduced size hex wrench is suitable.
Repair procedure
Checking the gap. It should be equal to 1.1 mm
The spark plug gap on the 16-valve Lada Vesta is 1.1 mm.
The process is completely simple if you have the necessary tools. After dismantling, you can assess the presence of a gap between the electrode contacts. Maybe you can just adjust the gap there and there won’t be a need for replacement, but if our 30 thousand kilometers are already behind us, then throw it straight into the trash.
During installation, the engine must be turned off and cooled to ambient temperature.
We will also need a TorxE-8 wrench, 16 head. When replacing an element, it is important to tighten it well, but not excessively, so as not to break the thread. After 30 thousand we will have to repeat the procedure.
One small but important reminder. You need to wrap the candle with your working hand so that you can feel when it goes along the thread. If something happens, you can stop in time by starting the process over again, carefully cleaning the threads. That's all, you can drive until the next replacement.
Replacement Spark Plugs Largus 16 Valves
Practical advice on choosing and replacing spark plugs in Lada Largus
When the car is located over a long distance, its owner must ensure timely replacement of consumables. Namely, high-quality spark plugs in Largus will ensure uninterrupted operation and relative stability of this Russian car.
Spark plugs play an important role in the engine of any car.
Failure of these parts threatens the failure of other components of the entire ignition system: distributor caps, coils, gas converter. In fact, the spark plug represents the components closest to the working processes of the cylinders of the entire engine. In addition, the current condition of these parts can indicate the temperature under the hood, the quality of the fuel used and the composition of the combustible mixture.
Spark plug diagnostics
The time has come to identify the shortcomings that provoke precarious work. Of course, this is not the only reason for this, since the engine also includes other elements: the ignition system, voltage dividers and various sensors.
In this situation, not only the correct diagnosis is useful. Even a color analysis of the insulator of the working part of a candle can tell a lot of fun. If it is grayish or yellowish-brown, it means the engine is running normally. When darkness is observed down to darkness, deposits appear indicating a very cold heat spectrum or a decrease in vacuum.
A wet finish indicates a damaged head gasket or wear on the pull-out ring. Almost everything depends on the composition of the sediment, the determination of which can prevent a drop in the running ability of the Lada Largus.
Key signs of ineffectiveness
- formation of different deposits;
- erosive phenomena;
- scattering, splitting or destruction of the insulator;
- excessive fuel consumption;
- burning or difficulty starting the engine.
There are still many problems that indicate that the spark plugs for Lada Largus simply need to be replaced. They often monitor their condition to eliminate most of it immediately.

↑ Replacing spark plugs on Lada Vesta with your own hands
If the car's mileage has not yet reached 30,000 km, but problems with the ignition system have already appeared, it is necessary to check the installation of the spark plugs and measure the gap between them. For a 16-valve Lada Vesta engine, the gap should be 1.1 mm, with the exception of the Renault-Nissan engine, where the gap is adjusted to 0.85-0.95 mm. Sometimes, by adjusting this indicator, problems with the ignition system disappear.
Replacing ignition elements on a Lada Vesta is a simple process that any car enthusiast with little experience in car maintenance can handle. Replacement work must be carried out on a cooled engine. To do this, you need to have a Torx E-8 spark plug wrench and a high 16 socket with an extension, and to work with an 8-valve engine, it is enough to have a 21 wrench.

Japanese brand spark plugs made in France. One of the most popular for the Largus 8-valve injector. Excellent performance characteristics of the spark plugs ensure stable engine operation in any temperature conditions. According to reviews from car owners, when replacing used spark plugs with new NGK brand ones, the car's gas mileage decreases, it becomes easier to start and has smooth, stable idle. Some note the high price of these candles, comparing them with cheap analogues. But they completely exhaust their resource of 30,000 km. And under normal vehicle operating conditions and high-quality fuel, some owners have NGK spark plugs that last 50,000-60,000 km.
The best spark plugs for Lada Largus
For Lada Largus with a 16-valve engine, spark plugs with two electrodes are suitable, which are suitable for an 8-valve engine, but the other way around will not work. On 8-valve engines, only 2-pin spark plugs are installed. They have two side electrodes; such products increase the efficiency of the power unit, plus it reduces vibration during operation.
There are a large number of different models of car spark plugs on the market that are suitable for the Lada Largus. However, not all of them correspond to the declared characteristics, ensure normal operation of the power unit and have a long service life. Rating of the best spark plugs for cars with LPG in 3 price categories
Modern gasoline engines have improved characteristics when compared with engines of previous years.
But not everyone can afford a new car with a highly efficient engine. But the problem with high fuel consumption needs to be solved somehow.
Brisk LR15YSOne of the most popular solutions on the Russian market is the installation of gas equipment.
Switching to gas or blue fuel does not require huge financial investments. At the same time, the car begins to require less money for direct refueling.
The trend of rising gasoline prices forces us to look for alternatives. But for LPG to work effectively, you must initially purchase good equipment, one of the key components of which is a spark plug.
You should find out which candles are the most popular and effective
To do this, a small rating will be presented, divided into 3 price categories. Before discussing the question of which candles will be better for gas, depending on the financial capabilities of the consumer, you need to understand an equally important dispute. Specialists who install gas equipment on cars that were initially equipped with gasoline power plants are recommended to replace traditional spark plugs with special ones designed specifically for working with blue fuel. But many motorists and car enthusiasts do not understand why switch from existing spark plugs to some special ones, supposedly designed specifically for igniting gas. They are sure that this is just a clever marketing ploy, and there is no real difference between the devices. It is important to note that traditional spark plugs are designed to work to ensure the combustion of the air-fuel mixture, that is, a combination of fuel vapor and oxygen (air)
Features and purpose of spark plugs
Two years have passed since the appearance of the first copy, which means that some of the spare parts responsible for igniting the combustible mixture in the engine cylinders have worn out.
These include spark plugs, which were mentioned in the preamble to this article. To get started, it doesn't hurt to do some background research.
Without these important elements, the car simply will not move. If the resource runs out, then it is necessary to change the spark plugs. All that remains is to determine how to find out that it is time for replacement. Some characteristic features of the engine indicate this time.
Symptoms of wear
The spark plugs looked absolutely working, but the engine did not work well with them.
- significant loss of power;
- vibration during detonation of the fuel mixture;
- the catalyst overheats due to overload;
- Fuel consumption increases compared to what it was before.
Some car systems may begin to malfunction in unison with the fuel system. The spark plugs are starting to get oily, which means the reflector caps also need refreshing.

What is the average speed?
That's why the expense is so high. On my K4M at an average speed of 16 km/h the average consumption is about 11.5. The author seems to have about 19 km/h in the video. And even then, it’s hard to believe that at 30 the consumption is 7.5, how much will it be on the highway at 80, for example, 4 or something? And the mileage after the reset may not have been fully calculated by the BC. 129 cannot have an efficiency higher by 20-30%; engineers in the world have not yet come up with such a thing
You may be right, but there are many factors for increased consumption due to installed roof rails, the number of passengers, driving style, etc. But even in winter, when I warmed up the car for 20 minutes. My flow rate at 92m did not exceed 8.5.
As for the nuances, yes, there is a lot to take into account. In any case, the consumption is highly dependent on the average speed. Moreover, in conjunction with the 129 gearbox with other gears. There should be less consumption than on K4M. But if you compare two 129s, there shouldn’t be a significant difference. And here, as you read, some eat like crazy, while others feed on the Holy Spirit. It's strange how it turns out

Have you ever had an average speed of 80 km/h? I have a maximum of 59
Why not? If you reset the BC before the highway and go, it’s fine. But this is synthetic, and yet, the operating consumption cannot be less than the passport
What can you say about the passport consumption of a Vesta with the same engine, except for its lower weight? She has city/highway/mix 9.3/5.5/6.9 liters. Moreover, it is written on 92 gasoline. At 95m I should probably lose another liter(◕‿◕)
I will say that the consumption cannot be less than these values. And the fact that at 95 the consumption should decrease is not a fact at all. It depends on the engine, perhaps it will drop by 129 a bit. But I repeat, not lower than the passport values, since the passport data is either calculated or in ideal conditions. Nobody drives like that

- the leg must have an M14 thread;
- the length of the main part is 19 mm;
- The installation parameter must correspond to the 16th dimension of the socket (spark) wrench.
It is possible to use elements with one or more lateral electrodes. Manufacturers use alloys of chromium, iridium, nickel or platinum as materials in the manufacture of these consumable components.
The LADA Largus version with a 16-valve engine is perfectly suited to related Renault models with the original code “7700500155”.
If we consider analogues, it is recommended to opt for the “Motrio 224018651R” products. These candles are quite rare and cannot be found in some cities. Therefore, as a replacement, you can take a closer look at models such as:
- “SAGEM RFN58LZ” or “BOSCH FR 7 LDC+ 0242235668”;
- "CHAMPION RC87YCL" or "DENSO K20TTK20TT#4".
These consumables can be installed on 16-valve versions of 1.6-liter engines (K4M).
For 8-valve options, it is also recommended to use original products, and in their absence, analogues from manufacturers designated a little earlier.
- type of products;
- sizes;
- gap size;

Advantages:
- pre-adjusted gap;
- excellent flammability and performance;
- affordable price.
Flaws:
Replacing spark plugs on an engine with 8 valves
- First, we will remove the tip from the Lada Largus spark plugs for 8 valves, and before moving on to dismantling, we will clean the area around the part (you can use a pump or a rag). This is necessary to ensure that no dirt, debris or dust has leaked into the well.
Using a “16” wrench or a head of the same size, unscrew the element and install a new one.
Next we put on the tip. We change elements on all cylinders.
If you remove all the tips at the same time, you need to remember their location or installation order. The point is that each wire leads to a separate cylinder, the numbering is written on the module (coil).
↑ Features and purpose of spark plugs on a Lada Vesta car
Plugs are one of the most important components in the ignition system of any car; without them, it simply will not start. Using a discharge on the electrodes, the flammable fuel-air mixture is ignited. Engine power, efficiency and even toxicity of exhaust gases depend on the stable operation of igniters.
Lada Vesta cars produced from the factory can have two types of spark plugs:
- AU17DVRM (Russia);
- Brisk Super DR15YC-1 (Czech Republic).
Both of these models of ignition elements, according to reviews from car owners, have proven themselves well, they last well and do not cause problems.
