The car is like a car and there is no air conditioner... Having told the owner about the options for installing new or used equipment, about the cost (new turnkey 50, used - 35), we agreed that we will install used equipment, especially since this year I have thoroughly stocked up on such equipment, because I think that new ones are sooooo expensive, but used ones, during pre-sale preparation, are no different in either quality or operational efficiency!
In my opinion, the Granta is best suited to be equipped with air conditioning. The installation process is not particularly complicated, a standard “locksmith” - unscrewed - removed - took another - installed - screwed.
But there are things with which there are problems with grants!
1. On cars without air conditioner there is NO belt tensioner mechanism! That is, you need to buy a Kalinovsky generator bracket with an adjusting screw and a roller.
So, if we have a kit with a three-pin sensor, but the computer “does not understand” it, then we need to solder a fitting into the high-pressure pipe to install another, four-pin pressure sensor. The connection diagram in the ECU connector also changes.
Otherwise, everything falls into place without problems.

1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove refrigerant from the air conditioning system as described here.

6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the air conditioning compressor magnetic clutch connector.
7. Remove the bolt securing the high-pressure pipeline flange to the air conditioning compressor flange, remove the washer and disconnect the pipeline.
Warning:
Immediately after disconnecting, plug the air conditioning compressor and pipe openings to prevent moisture and dirt from entering the air conditioning system.
8. Similarly, disconnect the low pressure pipe flange from the air conditioning compressor flange.
9. Remove the three bolts securing the air conditioning compressor to the engine bracket.
10. Remove the air conditioning compressor by lowering it down.
11. If you suspect problems with the air conditioning compressor pulley bearing, rotate the pulley by hand. The air conditioning compressor pulley should rotate on the bearing evenly, silently, and without jamming. There should be no axial or radial play.
If the air conditioner compressor bearing seizes and rotates tightly, then it is necessary to repair the air conditioner and replace the bearing without waiting for it to be completely destroyed.
12. Install the air conditioning compressor on the Lada Granta VAZ 2190 car in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following: - tighten the bolts securing the air conditioning compressor to the engine bracket to a torque of 25-29 Nm; — install new sealing rings on the pipelines and lubricate them with ATMOS GU-10 compressor oil; — attach the pipelines to the compressor and tighten the bolts securing their flanges to a torque of 7-9 Nm.
Warnings:
Open the process plugs of the flanges of the new air conditioning compressor only immediately before connecting the pipelines. When installing, be sure to lubricate the new sealing rings of the pipeline flanges with oil for the air conditioning compressor.
13. When installing the drive belt, make sure that the V-belt tracks align with the pulley grooves and that the belt tension is correct.
14. Refill the air conditioner and air conditioning system with refrigerant at a specialized car air conditioning service center.

When purchasing a new air conditioning compressor, check with the seller about the amount and type of oil poured into the new compressor. This information may be useful to mechanics who will subsequently charge the system with refrigerant.

The factory has already provided for the possibility of installing an air conditioner, so you do not need to interfere much with the car’s structure to install a technical device that is quite difficult to install. The body already has technological holes for wiring, for high-pressure pipes, for installing an evaporator, and an air conditioner radiator. Most of the parts are of the company's own production.
The wiring diagram for most modern air conditioners is shown below. The representative described here is fully built on the same principle.
First, a heat exchanger (or condenser) is installed in front of the car’s original radiator. It can also be optionally equipped with a fan. The refrigerant condenses in it, giving off heat. An air conditioning compressor is installed near the generator, which circulates freon throughout the system. It is driven by a belt drive (usually from a generator belt). All elements of the system are connected by pipelines filled with refrigerant (usually freon). In addition to these parts, a heat exchanger is installed in the standard ventilation system, which will cool the air, taking all the heat and releasing it in the condenser.

Compressor
The air conditioning compressor is mounted on the engine bracket next to the generator and is driven by the generator's serpentine belt. Its function. ensure circulation of refrigerant in the system. The torque from the pulley to the shaft is transmitted using a special electronic clutch.
If the system is working properly, a slight clicking sound is heard when the air conditioner is turned on. At this moment, the electric clutch pressing the disk engages with the pulley and transmits rotation to the compressor rotor. During operation, the coupling may wear out, which will lead to extraneous sounds, burning odors, etc. This may indicate a faulty clutch bearing.
If you don’t hear a click when you turn it on, this may indicate some kind of malfunction in the system, for example, depressurization and a refrigerant leak. In this case, the pressure sensor will detect a low level of refrigerant pressure and will not turn on the electric clutch.
If, when you turn on the air conditioner, you hear grinding and strong extraneous sounds, or the engine stalls, this may indicate that the compressor is jammed. The inside of the compressor cannot be repaired and you will have to replace it completely.
Replacement of units and components of the Lada Granta air conditioning system
We replace units and components of the air conditioning system in case of their breakdown and when dismantling components associated with the air conditioning system.
Removing and installing the capacitor
We place the car on the lift.
We unload the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.
We raise the car for convenient work.

Using a 10mm socket, unscrew the four nuts 1, Figure 1, remove the washers and beam 4 of the front bumper.
We remove the sound signal 2.
Disconnect block 3 of the ignition system wires from the block of the electric fan harness 5 of the capacitor.
Using a 10 socket, unscrew two nuts 1, Figure 2, fastening the high pressure pipeline 5 and the suction compressor pipeline 4 to the condenser 3, remove the washers 2.
We disconnect the pipelines and install technological plugs on the pipelines and in the condenser holes.
Using a 10mm head, unscrew the two bolts 1, Figure 3, securing the condenser to the radiator, remove the washers 3, remove the radiator 4 from the clamps and remove the condenser 2 with the electric fan assembly.
Using a 10mm socket, unscrew the four bolts 1, Figure 4, remove the washers 2 and remove the electric fan 4 from the condenser 3.
Condenser installation
We install the electric fan 4, Figure 4, on the capacitor 3 and tighten the four bolts 1 securing the electric fan with washers 2.
We install the capacitor 2, Figure 3, with the electric fan assembly into the radiator clamps 4 and with a 10-point head we tighten the two fastening bolts 1 with washers 3.
We connect block 3 of the ignition system wiring harness to the block of the electric fan harness 5 of the capacitor.
We remove the plugs from the pipelines and the condenser. We install new o-rings. Apply compressor oil FD 46XG to the sealing rings.
We attach pipelines 4 and 5, Figure 2, to condenser 3, install washers 2 and secure with nuts 1. The tightening torque of the nuts securing the pipelines to the condenser is 3.7 - 4.6 Nm (0.37 - 0.46 kgf.m).
Install sound signal 2, Figure 1.
Install beam 4 of the front bumper, install washers and screw four nuts 1. The tightening torque of the nuts securing the front bumper beam is 5 – 7 Nm (0.5 – 0.7 kgf.m).
Evacuate the system and load the system with refrigerant, loading rate 500±25 grams.
Removing and installing the evaporator unit
We install the car on a lift or inspection ditch.
We unload the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.
Using a 10 socket, unscrew two bolts 1, Figure 5, with washers 3 and disconnect block 2 of pipelines from block 4 of the evaporator.
We install plugs in the holes of the evaporator block and the piping block.

Disconnect block 1, Figure 6, of the evaporator temperature sensor from the instrument panel wiring block.
Using a flat-head screwdriver and pliers, unfasten the fastening brackets and disconnect the evaporator unit housing.
By visual inspection we check the elements of the evaporator block for mechanical damage to tubes, plates and threaded connections
Evaporator Unit Installation
We perform the installation in the reverse order, in this case:
— before installation, add compressor oil to the evaporator in the amount of 25 cm 3 (compressor oil FD 46XG);
— replace the O-rings with new ones and lubricate them with compressor oil;
— the tightening torque of two bolts 1, Figure 5, attaching the pipeline block to the evaporator block is 5 – 6 Nm (0.5 – 0.6 kgf.m).
Evacuate the system and charge the system with refrigerant.
Removing and installing the air conditioning compressor
We install the car on a lift or inspection hole.
We unload the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.
For vehicles with manual transmission
Using sockets 8 and 10, unscrew eleven screws 1, Figure 7, and two mounting bolts and remove the right 5 and middle 2 engine protection splash guards.
For vehicles with automatic transmission
Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew eleven screws 1, Figure 8, fastenings with lock washers, remove the right 2 and left 3 engine mudguards.
For all vehicle trim levels
Use a 19mm wrench to loosen the tensioner locknut, turn the hexagon screw clockwise to loosen the tension on the auxiliary drive belt and remove the belt.
Disconnect block 1, Figure 9, of the wires from the electromagnetic clutch of compressor 2.
Using a 13 socket, unscrew the two nuts 4 securing the compressor pipelines and disconnect pipelines 3 and 5 from the compressor.
We install plugs on the pipelines and holes in the compressor.
Using a 12mm socket, unscrew bolts 1 and 2, Figure 10, securing the compressor to bracket 3 of the generator, remove the bolts and remove compressor 4.
Air conditioning compressor installation
We combine the holes in the eyes of the compressor 4, Figure 10, and in the bracket 3 of the generator, install bolts 1 and 2 of the compressor fastening into the holes. Tightening torque of compressor mounting bolts 20 – 28 Nm (2.0 – 2.8 kgf.m)
We remove the plugs from the compressor and pipelines. We install new o-rings and apply oil for the air conditioning compressor to them.
We connect the pipelines to the compressor. The tightening torque of nuts 4, Figure 8, fastening pipelines 3 and 4 to the compressor is 17 – 23 Nm (1.7 – 2.3 kgf.m).
When installing a new compressor, you need to drain the oil from it in an amount calculated by the formula:
C = A – B, where: C is the amount of oil that needs to be drained; A – the amount of oil poured into the new compressor; B is the amount of oil remaining in the dismantled compressor.
Install the accessory drive belt.
Connect the wire block.
Install and secure the engine mudguards in the reverse order of removal.
Evacuate the air conditioning system and charge the system with refrigerant.

Initially, the car was purchased as a relatively cheap analogue of a foreign car. The key point here is price. But time passes and I wanted to make my Granta a truly modern, comfortable car. Window closers, rain sensor, parking assistance system - everything was successfully installed.
It's the turn of the air conditioner. The task was made easier by the fact that AvtoVAZ had already carried out the necessary preparations for this system, which indicates the future serial production of this model. Installation of an air conditioner in a Lada Granta proceeds according to the following scheme:
An additional radiator-heat exchanger with a fan is installed.
What is noteworthy is that due to the fact that it is installed in front of the main radiator, when the air conditioner is turned on, the optimal engine temperature is maintained.
This happens due to the passage of air through both radiators. The main part of the system is the compressor. It was installed near the generator. It is connected via a belt drive from the motor shaft.
We must immediately make a reservation that if you value the warranty, then the installation will have to be postponed until it expires. It’s just that today the unit undergoes all the necessary checks from the engineers of the Volzhsky Auto Plant.
They have not yet given an official answer. No dealer will allow you to install it. And when installing an air conditioner at a dealer, there will be a warranty on the new device, but it will be removed from the engine.
In Russia, climate control systems from FROST are currently being installed on Granta. It is advisable to carefully check all the documentation for the device, and most importantly, entrust the installation to professionals. Due to the fact that E-gas is installed on the Grant, there is no interference with the vehicle’s control system, and the speed automatically increases as the load on the engine increases.
The installation of an air conditioner in the Lada Granta did not cause any significant loss of power. The new firmware with the climate control included in it helped. At low negative temperatures, air dehumidification is usually not required; the stove can handle moisture vapor. - the humidity sensor will inform the controller about the need to remove excess moisture;
- the controller will give a command to turn on the air conditioner and stove simultaneously;
- moist air passing through the air conditioner evaporator will leave moisture particles in the form of condensation or frost on the heat exchanger honeycombs;
- After the evaporator, the air enters the stove radiator, where it is also further dried.
