Error P0363 - Misfire - No Fuel Delivery

What does P0363 mean?

To detect misfires, the PCM uses data from the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors and also takes into account the number of engine revolutions per minute. If the PCM detects that the camshaft or crankshaft position has changed and is abnormal under current conditions, or that the actual engine speed is not at the required value, it will assume that one of the engine cylinders is misfiring. In this case, the PCM will cut off fuel to that cylinder and store P0363.

How does the self-diagnosis complex work?

This system is self-regulated in automatic mode. Its structural composition includes several electronic devices. Based on sensor impulses, a variety of information flows into the ECU memory, among which there are faults. They are presented in the form of designated fault codes. Car manufacturers do not support the idea that owners are inclined to independently maintain electronic systems of cars, therefore they tend not to disclose the meaning of the codes. Here we can see the noble motive of the developers, because they understand that in this way scammers can take advantage of the situation and change the settings of the electronic module, for example, reduce the odometer readings before selling the Lada Kalina car, etc.

This situation forces the manufacturer and dealers to persuade owners to service the self-diagnosis system in specialized services.

A particularly important component of this system is the on-board controller. With its help, information collected from sensors is processed and displayed on the display. Lada Kalina does not have such a device, which deprives the owner of the ability to visually read information regarding breakdowns. This is where scanning equipment comes to the rescue. Thanks to it, self-diagnosis occurs.

Causes of error P0363

The most common cause of the P0363 code is a malfunction of one or more ignition system components. The problem may be worn or damaged spark plugs, ignition coils, and related wires.

Other reasons are:

  • Insufficient fuel pressure
  • Vacuum leak
  • Malfunction in the exhaust gas recirculation system
  • Fuel injector malfunction
  • Clogged catalytic converter

Diagnostics using the dashboard

It is advisable for the owner of the Russian model we are considering to remember all the error codes that may periodically occur in the system. In addition, it is recommended that you learn how to diagnose the dashboard yourself. It is designed to reflect error codes that occur in the electronic components of the Lada Kalina.

To start the diagnostic process, you will need to press a button that records the daily mileage. While holding it, turn on the ignition by turning the appropriate key. If this manipulation is performed correctly, the arrows on the scales of the speedometer, tachometer and auxiliary indicators will begin to move along a circular path, moving from the initial to the final position.

Upon completion of this movement of the arrows, the owner will need to switch the screen to another mode. This will be done by a special button located on the wiper switch under the steering wheel. Pressing displays a picture with performance indicators of a wide range of devices controlled by the ECU. The software version of the complex is also displayed here - self-diagnosis.

After updating the information three times, the error codes themselves appear on the device, expressed in digital form.

Let's look at the list of errors by number:

  1. No. 2 – the error indicates the presence of a deviation of the voltage indicator in the on-board network from the nominal parameter;
  2. No. 3 – “speaks” of a failed fuel level sensor in the tank;
  3. No. 4 - the so-called error 4 is activated if there is a break in the antifreeze temperature sensor circuit in the cooling circuit or the component itself has become unusable;
  4. No. 5 – indicates a breakdown of the outside temperature sensor;
  5. No. 6 - confirms the fact of engine overheating;
  6. No. 7 – states a critically low level of oil pressure in the corresponding engine circuit;
  7. No. 8 – error 8 for non-working brake components of the car;
  8. No. 9 – confirms the fact of battery discharge.

The “E” symbol deserves special attention, which indicates the presence of errors contained in the “EEPROM”. Each malfunction, including error 4 and error 8, requires attention from the car owner.

How does a mechanic diagnose a P0363 code?

The mechanic will first visually inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace all loose, frayed, shorted, damaged or corroded wires, connectors and other electrical components. He will then clear the error codes from the PCM memory and test drive the vehicle to see if P0363 appears again. If the error code appears again, the mechanic will continue to diagnose. It will perform diagnostics until it finds a problem.

Related error codes P1301, P1302, P1303, P1304

Along with error P0363, you can also observe the following error codes P1301, P1302, P1303, P1304 - these codes indicate in which cylinder(s) 1, 2, 3 or 4, respectively, misfire occurred. The automatic system analyzes the speed and uniformity of rotation of the crankshaft and, if anomalies are detected, records the necessary error in the log.

Also, in some situations, the fuel supply to those cylinders in which the problem has arisen is turned off in order to protect the engine and its components from negative effects.

Diagnosis of error P0363 (P1301, P1302, P1303, P1304) and related faults at an authorized dealer:

A diagnostic device is connected to the client's car, the ignition is turned on and the car engine starts. Then you need to go to the “Signal Monitoring” section and try to reproduce the conditions under which the error code appears. If error codes are recorded, proceed to check the compression and valve timing. In most cases, after checking and troubleshooting, the error goes away and the car's operation returns to normal. However, if after the work the errors continue to be recorded, they begin checking the fuel supply system.

If checking the fuel supply system does not reveal any abnormalities, there remains one component that may harbor a misfire problem - the intake system, which must be checked for air leaks.

What repairs can fix the P0363 code?

After detecting the P0363 code using an OBD-II scanner and checking all electrical components, the mechanic will do the following:

  • Inspects and, if necessary, repairs or replaces worn or damaged ignition system components such as spark plugs, ignition coils, distributor cap, fuel filter, and related wires.
  • Replace the appropriate spark plug and ignition coil on a cylinder that is working properly to determine which component is faulty.
  • Takes oxygen sensor readings to determine if a vacuum leak is present and, if necessary, repairs or replaces a worn or damaged vacuum hose.
  • Check and, if necessary, clean the clogged catalytic converter
  • Repairs or replaces a faulty fuel injector.

Each time a repair is performed, the mechanic will clear the error code from the PCM memory and retest the system to see if the P0363 Owl code still appears. This will help you find out if the problem is resolved.

Diagnosis and problem solving

The first step is always to check the technical service bulletins (TSB) for your specific vehicle. Your problem may already be known with a known fix released by the manufacturer. This can save you time and money during diagnosis.

Code P0363 is information on a stored cylinder misfire code. Any other stored pass codes will also need to be diagnosed. They are designated P0301 to P0312.

There are many tools available to test the operation of the coil, spark plug, and fuel injector. But the simple method of replacing components between cylinders is the most effective.

This is not always possible to do with fuel injectors, but it works well with coils and spark plugs. Which fail much more often than fuel injectors.

To fix the problem, you will need a scanner to read the saved codes. The scanner will also come in handy for clearing codes as the diagnostic process continues. After completing the steps to replace components, you must clear the codes to perform diagnostics.

It is best to replace spark plugs as a set if the vehicle in question is approaching the recommended replacement interval. However, locate the faulty part before performing any maintenance. When replacing the ignition coil for a specific cylinder, it is recommended to replace the spark plug. This will save you time and money in the long run.

Sometimes, when this problem is detected, some technicians assume that the injector of the relevant cylinder has failed. And they suggest replacing it, although this is simply a reaction (caused by the PCM) to a misfire. This is misleading if you are not familiar with the fuel cut-off system found on some models.

If P0363 persists without any cylinder misfire codes, suspect a faulty PCM or PCM programming error.

Additional diagnostic notes:

The P0363 code must be cleared before the faulty parts are replaced and the injector pulse on the corresponding cylinder is restored.

When using the replacement method to inspect spark plugs, be careful when removing the plugs from aluminum cylinder heads. The threads in aluminum are very fragile and can be damaged if they are not allowed to cool properly.

How to resolve the problem

If error P0363 is displayed during diagnostics of the Lada Granta, then the reasons may be:

  1. Use of low-quality fuel.
  2. No spark.
  3. It could also be a leaky air intake.
  4. Damaged/worn cylinders.

The first problem can be solved easily and quickly.
It is enough just to replace the fuel used with gasoline from another manufacturer. Often this measure is enough to eliminate the skipping problem. Indeed, according to statistics, error P0363 is largely associated with low-quality gasoline. Note: if error P0363 makes itself felt too often, and, as a result, one of the cylinders is turned off (although the engine and other elements are working properly), you can reflash the engine control unit by deleting the error data from it.

In a situation where replacing gasoline does not solve the problem, it is necessary to check the air intake, that is, replace the filter with a new one, if the existing one is already worn out, tighten the fastening screws. It is also recommended to check the pressure in the rail (it should not exceed 2.8 atmospheres).

Next, you need to check how the ignition system works, namely:

  1. Is there oxidation at the connection points?
  2. What is the condition of the spark plugs of the damaged cylinder, as well as the armored wire that is attached to it?

Checking high-voltage wires is carried out using a tester. Normally, their resistance does not exceed 10 kOhm. Otherwise, this indicates damage and the need to replace them with new ones.

Codes related to P0132

  • P0130 - Oxygen sensor circuit (bank 1, sensor 1).
  • P0131 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 1).
  • P0132 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1, Sensor 1).
  • P0136 - O2 sensor circuit failure (bank 1, sensor 2).
  • P0137 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2).
  • P0138 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2).
  • P0150 - O2 Sensor Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 1).
  • P0151 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1).
  • P0152 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 1).
  • P0156 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 2).
  • P0157 - O2 Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2).
  • P0158 - O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 2 Sensor 2).

Troubleshooting that is intermittent

First, you need to check for possible electrical circuit problems. Particular attention should be paid to the following: - absence of deformation on the terminal connections; — reliability of mechanical compression of terminals with wires; — no cracks, signs of damage, or melting on the pad bodies.

After turning on the ignition and starting the engine, it is necessary to move the wire harnesses, starting from the connectors and along the harness, while monitoring the operation of the ECM using a diagnostic tool. If a fault is detected in the wiring harness, it must be repaired.

On-Board Diagnostic System

The vehicle's ECM has an on-board diagnostic system, which includes a warning light in the instrument cluster that lights up when it detects that the exhaust gas toxicity threshold has been exceeded, and also alerts the driver to the need for repair work.

The on-board diagnostic system includes the following types:

— misfire of the fuel mixture; — control of the control oxygen sensor;

— control of ECM elements;

The on-board diagnostic warning light turns on if the on-board system detects the same fault during several trips or engine starts, as well as when faults are detected in electrical circuits.

The OBD warning light flashes when a misfire in the fuel mixture is detected. This emergency situation leads to failure of the catalytic converter.

Information about malfunctions is entered into the non-volatile memory of the computer; this information is deleted automatically after 40 subsequent tests, as well as using a diagnostic tool.

How to fix error P0363 on Lada Granta

In today's article we will talk about the malfunction that Lada Granta car owners encounter, namely error 0363. What is it?
How to diagnose and, if necessary, repair? The reason why this problem occurs is misfire. In more detail, there is no electric spark on the spark plug of one of the four cylinders, and, as a result, only three of them are activated.

During such operation, the engine power noticeably decreases, sharp jerks of the car are also observed, and the exhaust becomes louder. But most often in such a situation the car shows no signs of life at all. This happens both short-term and on an ongoing basis.

This can happen due to:

  • damaged cylinder;
  • burnt gasket;
  • there may be no spark at the cylinder plug;
  • fuel - poor quality air mixture.

Let's now take a closer look at the third item on our list.

Error P1302 and P0363. Replacing spark plugs and ignition coils in the 2nd pot =)

In general, these are the things, in the morning we warmed up the car and suddenly: - the engine started up - the check came out - uneven exhaust - the speed fluctuates a little - the car stalls

I'm terrified what to do O_O

Sorry for the bad emotions =). I made diagnostics using OBD II.

Error P1302 and P0363

We left the car as is and went to work. I rummaged around on the Internet and found the information that everyone writes 100% that the ignition coil is dead! And then I thought hmm. The mileage is 39 thousand, have the spark plugs in the car been changed at all? Because I am the second owner and somehow forgot about them that they are consumables =)

I didn’t buy new spark plugs because the previous owner left them for me as a gift =) I tried to change the spark plugs, but I couldn’t unscrew the bolt that holds the coil, not a single head fit from the standard set, you need TORX E8 (1/4). ATTENTION, don’t even try to rip them off with standard heads... then screw... look for this bolt =)

The next day came, but I was already fully prepared! =) Bought:

I didn’t bother to do a video on how to unscrew the spark plugs, I found it on the Internet

I started it up and everything started working fine, I thought, oh well, let the new ignition coil be in stock. My wife and I went to work the next day, I thought, well, it was cool, it was all about the spark plugs, I rolled 39 thousand on the factory ones, and then after 2 km you again have the same situation and the same errors, took out a new ignition coil and replaced it in the second cylinder. Started it up and ufff, well, finally everything is good =)

After the replacement, I checked the dead coil, using this instruction from ld-s www.drive2.ru/l/4899916394579308899/ I found out that the second winding of the ignition coil had died.

And yet, comrades, in order not to end up replacing the coil, change the spark plugs on time! =)

P/S: By the way, everyone writes that it’s better to buy BOSH coils and not Russian fantastic ones =) But to be honest, it’s a shame for me to buy 1 BOSH coil for 1750 rubles O_o

from record dia2 The manufacturer's marking can be determined by the last digits: 10 - BOSCH 11 - Itelma 12 - Stary Oskol (I had the factory one) 13 - Novosibirsk (bought in a store)

After a month of operation: there were occasional drops in speed and slight vibration in the body. All the coils rang, the second winding was broken and the new coil was broken (i.e. defective). Conclusion: don’t waste your time on the BOSH reel! Now I understand SOLIKAMCK’s comment “it’s better to install the Bosch and forget ours will drink more blood for you”

Diagnostics of the operation of the electronic engine immobilizer

The ECM of the Lada Largus vehicle includes an electronic anti-theft engine start immobilizer (EPISD), which prevents unauthorized engine starting by breaking the ECM control circuits.

In turn, the ECU has the ability to individually encode the digital signal generated by the EPBZD control unit to allow or prohibit engine starting.

The EPBD or immobilizer is an electronic device that includes an electronic control unit with a communication coil on the ignition switch, a warning lamp located on the dashboard (Fig. 2) and keys with a radio frequency remote control.

The electronic control unit EPBD is connected to the ECM via a diagnostic line, which is switched by a relay (part of the control unit).

If the diagnostic tool is not connected to the diagnostic socket, the diagnostic line is used to communicate with the ECM and the electronic control unit. When a scan tool is connected, the line automatically switches between the ECM and the scan tool. Please note that the ECM control unit has priority over the diagnostic tool - in the event of information exchange between the ECM and the ECM control unit, the connection between the ECM and the diagnostic tool is broken.

The EPBZD control unit is installed under the vehicle's dashboard.

Error 0363 on VAZ 2114: figuring out what to do with it

The reason that error 0363 appears on the VAZ 2114 is the so-called misfire. It is the absence of an electric spark at the spark plug of one of the cylinders, as a result of which only three cylinders are involved in the operation of the engine.

The term “tripleting” of an engine precisely refers to the fact that the engine runs on only three of the four cylinders. Despite the fact that cars are now produced with a large number of cylinders, this concept continues to be used steadily.

Externally, tripping looks like a large loss of power, sharp jerking of the car and strong exhaust sounds. In most cases, the car will not even be able to move. This phenomenon can occur either periodically or constantly.

The reasons may be:

We will consider the first of these reasons (misfire) below.

VAZ Kalina engine interruptions

VAZ (Lada) Kalina 2004 - 2013

Good afternoon. The engine starts normally. Severe interruptions a couple of minutes after the engine starts, especially when the air temperature is closer to 0 degrees. When more than 2 and above, triples less. And after turning off and pausing, 4-5 minutes, they disappear. But, when driving, you feel that the traction is less than before. “Check” lights up. I connected the device to a friend, the result was multiple misfires in all cylinders. I replaced the spark plugs with new ones and rang the high-voltage wires. I also noticed that the canister purge valve does not click.

Topic: Errors P0363 and P130_(1-4) or how the ignition module dies

So a problem occurred - the car began to shake while idling in a traffic jam. Then the meat grinder flashed and the on-board alarm beeped with an error. The car began to shake more noticeably. The engine was troublesome. Then he started doubling. 3 errors popped up. P0363, P1301, P1304. P0363 - misfires detected, fuel supply to idle cylinders is turned off. P130_(1 to 4) - Cylinder (1-4), misfires detected, critical for the converter. After turning it off and on, cylinder 4 started up, only 1 remained. So I spent 1.5 hours in traffic jams. Sometimes even 4 would turn off. The restart gave it life again. If one error from 130_ popped up, then you could rack your brains and you wouldn’t immediately think about the module (spark plug, explosive wire, injector). And so if a pair of 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 is 99% dead, the ignition module is a characteristic sign, so to speak. Why is this topic raised? My mileage is 42 thousand. A friend of mine on Kalina 2 also had a 40 thousand coil. I know that many have gone through more without problems. Because there is no time to run around under warranty and ride on 3 cylinders first to work, and then under warranty, or use free evacuation - I bought a BOSCH F000ZS0211 at a good stall I know for 1800 rubles. They still had them at the old prices. Now under 3000r. they ask. You could have ours for 900 rubles. but there is no confidence that it will work adequately. Therefore, it is 2 times more expensive, BOSCH. Our module is marked 21110-3705010-03 or 2111-3705010-03.

PS Basically, based on indirect evidence. The coils periodically fooled me. The engine shook slightly at idle, but the meat grinder did not burn. Now it has become obvious and covered with a copper basin. The positive thing after the replacement was that the revs rose to exactly +-10, something that hasn’t happened for a long time. Consumption decreased slightly on the on-board vehicle. But this is debatable, because... reliability within 5% can be ignored - measurement error.

Error P0363

This malfunction can be detected by using a special diagnostic device. It indicates that one of the cylinders in the engine is faulty, misfire occurs, and, as a result, the fuel supply to it has stopped.

Note: most modern cars are equipped with a control system that automatically stops supplying fuel to the cylinder if there is even the slightest problem.

In this regard, it would be useful to mention error P1304, which means that in a particular cylinder (in this case the fourth) there is an ignition delay, and this is critical for the converter.

Quite often, along with errors P0363 and 1304, another one may appear - P0300, which indicates that the threshold of exhaust toxicity due to misfire is very high. And this is a rather dangerous problem.
