What kind of gasoline to fill in Priora 16. What kind of gasoline is recommended to fill in Lada Priora

The car has entered our lives forever. Nowadays, it is no longer a luxury, but a necessary means of transportation. The age of speed has come, everyone needs to hurry: to work, to study, to rest, for various important matters, and having your own transport is more reliable, and there is a greater opportunity to be on time everywhere. There are many brands of cars, and the gasoline they use must match a certain model. Today, the more popular brands of gasoline are AI-92 and AI-95. Which is better for a domestic car Lada Priora?

Automotive fuel

Gasoline is a mixture of hydrocarbons that has the following properties:

  1. highly flammable;
  2. mostly colorless;
  3. density 700-780 kg/m2;
  4. highly volatile and flares up at 20-40° C;
  5. boils at 30-200° C;
  6. freezes at -60° C.

To improve the quality, 0.07-0.2% additives are added to the fuel:

  • Antiknock agents (monomethylaniline 15%).
  • Antioxidants.
  • Anti-corrosion agents for metals.

These additives are poisonous, environmentally hazardous and produce high temperatures during combustion, which can damage the car engine.

It is best to use methyl carbinol and dimethyl ketone when necessary, as they are less toxic. If you add one hundred milliliters of ethanol to one liter of AI-92 fuel, you will get AI-95, since the octane number increases.

Gasoline is obtained from oil; it has two main technical characteristics, indicated by letters and numbers:

  • A – motor.
  • Brand AI – research.
  • The numbers 92, 95 are the percentage of isooctane with heptane.
  • The octane number characterizes the resistance of gasoline to detonation. The higher the percentage, the lower the probability of failure of the cylinder-piston group of parts.
  • Detonation is the arbitrary spontaneous ignition of gasoline under pressure with consequences in the form of an explosion.
  1. used to operate carburetor internal combustion engines; detonation resistant;
  2. ensures stable engine operation;
  3. is widely popular in Russia and the CIS countries;
  4. summer is used in the southern regions of the Russian Federation throughout the year, and in the northern regions - from 01.04 to 01.10;
  5. winter - in the north of the country from 01.10 to 01.04;
  6. 4th class according to EURO-4 standard;
  7. works from +60 to -35-55° C;
  8. stores well and for a long time;
  9. burns quickly and evaporates during processing.
  1. contains sulfur – no more than 0.05%;
  2. there is manganese - in 1 dm³ - 18 mg;
  3. resin composition per 100 cm³ – up to 5 mg;
  4. etiolation possible (0.15 g/l Pb);
  5. without etiolation (0.013 g/l);
  6. can boil at 33-205° C;
  7. There is no more than 5% benzene;
  8. p at 15 °C kg/ – 725-780;
  9. clear liquid.
  • Expensive.
  • Less gasoline consumption by 3-4%.
  • High-quality: the car starts faster and the speed is higher.
  • More resistant to detonation due to increased alcohol content.
  1. less lead – 0.010 g/l;
  2. manganese – 18;
  3. resins – 5.0;
  4. S – no more than 0.05%;
  5. benzene – 5%;
  6. density – 725-780.

There will be no major violation if in an unusual situation you fill up with another instead of one gasoline, but you must take into account that if the vehicle breaks down, this will affect the warranty. Especially if AI-92 is used after AI-95. You shouldn’t mix them at all, since they are still different in chemical composition, and the mixture won’t work. To increase the service life of the machine’s engine, it is better to use the brand recommended by the instructions. And it is imperative to save the receipts after refueling to present them at the service station and when specialists check the exhaust system of the car.

LADA PRIORA 8-valve:

  1. power – 90 horsepower;
  2. speed acceleration – up to 176 km/h;
  3. fuel consumption is approximately 6.2-8.8 liters per 100 kilometer section;
  4. cheaper repairs and maintenance;
  5. simpler engine design;
  6. semi-synthetic oils are used;
  7. quite suitable for AI-95;
  8. minus: noisy operation and low engine power;
  9. production discontinued due to model obsolescence.

The car's passport states that it runs on AI-92. According to reviews from owners and testers, the following picture emerges:

  • Alexander Stefantsov, 45 years old, 20 years of driving experience: “I decided to kick it, filled it with AI-95, started up faster, purred calmly, accelerated harder, drove around for a while, but then I noticed a knock. I went to the service station: I needed to change the pistons, I had the wrong gas.”
  • Sergei Paramonov, 30 years old, 10 years of driving experience: “Everything is fine, the gasoline is excellent, but you will arrive for repairs earlier than the warranty is supposed to, and they won’t turn it on because of AI-95.”

Gasoline of this brand burns faster and the temperature is higher, so it gradually and imperceptibly damages the combustion chamber, which is not designed for such power. The conclusion is: use fuel according to the instructions, and there will be fewer problems.

Car LADA PRIORA 16-valve, 2013-2014:

  1. 106-123 horsepower;
  2. 183-190 km/h highest speed;
  3. 5.6-9.8 liters per 100 kilometers of fuel required;
  4. smooth and silent operation of the motor;
  5. only AI-95 fuel;
  6. tank volume – 43 liters;
  7. works on expensive synthetic oils;
  8. more expensive than a service station;
  9. newer and more modern car.

Pour gasoline into the Lada Priora. The latest car is equipped with a large number of electronic systems that require careful handling and high-grade gasoline.

But I want to save money and here are some striking examples:

  • Anatoly Samoilov, 35 years old, 8 years of driving experience: “Friends said that the AI-92 is no worse, cheaper, so I drove it. Firstly, consumption increased, and secondly, the spark plugs had to be changed.”
  • Andrey Kuznetsov, driving for 5 years: “I have little experience, I listened to what others said, but then in reality the converter had to be changed, and that’s the savings.”

Gasoline grade 92 quickly leads to contamination of the engine and spark plugs. The vehicle clearly responds to all changes, and this is shown by the instrument panel. The brand of gasoline and the type of engine are directly related to each other, and the right choice determines how quickly you can get to a major repair. The problem of good auto fuel due to high demand rests on the quality of its processing and the cost, which is constantly increasing.

Unscrupulous suppliers take advantage of the rush for gasoline and sell counterfeits with various mixtures that destroy car parts. The correct choice of gas station, where high-quality gasoline is available, will have a great influence on the smooth operation of equipment.

Will the valves or pistons burn out?

These horror stories came to us from old carburetor cars. Where there were often only two types of gasoline, 76 and 93. And pouring 93 into an engine with 76 was not recommended! Why? YES because the carburetor could not automatically adjust the “octane number”, and it turned out that the mixture was still burning in the cylinders, but the exhaust valves opened and were melted by this flame!

YES this really happened, but if you adjust the carburetor to use high-octane fuel, then nothing bad will happen either.

Modern cars often already allow the use of all types of fuel; in the instructions for use, you can see the following inscriptions:

  1. From 91 to 99
  2. At least 92
  3. Not less than 95
  4. 95 is recommended, but 98 is possible

And so on. What this tells us is that often modern engines can operate on almost all modern standards. If we say in your car, at least 92 is recommended, then this means that you can fill in all types and 92, 95, 98.

If the car is designed for 95, then you can fill it with 95, 98. BUT if you fill it with 92 and detonation occurs, then the ignition angle will immediately be corrected by the “knock sensor”; this is exactly what it is designed for.

That is, modern engines, in the literal sense of the word, are SMART! Based on a bunch of sensors, the ECU will make the necessary decision and launch the necessary algorithm with this particular type of fuel.

So - NOTHING WILL BURN OUT FOR YOU, NOT A VALVE, LESS THAN THE PISTONS.

About burning gasoline

I would like to explain a little how gasoline of different octane numbers burns; we need this to understand the power and small savings.

  1. 76 (80) gasoline - burns quickly and does not last long, I would even say explosively. It flared up quickly and went out quickly.
  2. 92nd - ignition is not so explosive, but gradual, that is, the flame spreads much “softer”, and combustion also takes a little longer.
  3. 95-98 - it becomes clear that the higher the octane, the softer the spread of flame in gasoline (if I can say so), more evenly or something. YES, this fuel burns longer.

Therefore, performance on high-octane types seems softer and the engine runs quieter. IT DOESN'T APPEAR, in fact it is so.

The engine cannot realize the potential of the fuel

Meanwhile, if instead of AI-98 you fill in the more expensive AI-100, the effect will be similar. The power unit simply will not be able to realize the potential of the detonation resistance of this expensive type of gasoline and will run on it exactly the same as on AI-98. That is, there will be no increase in power.

AI-100 has the same calorific value as AI-98 and even AI-95. When burned, it releases the same amount of energy as AI-92, and cannot in itself be a source of increased power. The characteristics of a modern engine now depend only on the design of the power unit.

Meanwhile, the use of AI-100 instead of old varieties is justified because of one little thing.

Mostly I fill with AI-92, but last year I caught myself thinking that 95m starts better in winter and the consumption is less and the engine runs quieter and pulls faster. In summer it is only 92, and in winter 95 until recently, when there was a problem with starting at -30. Moreover, gasoline prices have increased significantly and the difference in price has become very noticeable, I decided to fill in 92 in the winter, I simply changed the methods of stopping the engine and starting it, after consulting on our community blog. What do you guys think, what kind of gasoline is better to put in our Priors?

I only pour 95 as required according to my passport! although many people say not to pour it! because it’s supposedly the same 92 only with additives! I don’t know what is better to pour, but I pour 95
