The figure seems to be good, but other Lada models sold much better. The first place belongs to Lada West, which sold more than 86 thousand copies. During this period, car enthusiasts purchased 80 thousand copies of the Lada Grant. Among its relatives, the XRay model occupied almost the last place (Lada 4x4 is only slightly inferior). AvtoVAZ has announced prices and specifications for the 2022 Lada XRay Cross in a new body; the changes can be seen in the photo. Engines
There is no information yet about the technical characteristics of the Lada X Ray, but there is information that the engine range will consist of a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 114 horsepower, as well as a 5-speed manual transmission. There may be other options in the future.
Initially, it was planned to begin production of cars at the end of 2015 - beginning of 2016, however, according to new data, the Lada Xray model will begin mass production in October next year. Production will be established at the enterprise's facilities in Tolyatti and Kazakhstan.

The price of the model has not yet been announced, but, obviously, it will be at the level of the top-end configurations of the regular Xray, that is, it will exceed 700 thousand rubles.

Dimensions and body design features
The “off-road” version of the hatchback has increased in size compared to the standard five-door. The most significant increase occurred in height, which is explained, first of all, by the increased ground clearance (215 instead of 195 mm) and the roof rails installed by default. The total increase was 75 mm, bringing the height to 1645 mm. The Lada X-ray Cross has not gained much in length and width – 6 mm (4171 mm) and 46 mm (1810 mm), respectively. The front wheel track has expanded to 1503 mm (from 1492 mm), the rear - to 1546 mm (from 1532 mm).
The main distinguishing feature of the Cross hatchback’s appearance, as expected, was a powerful plastic body kit around the perimeter. In addition to the special finishing, the model received several important updates in terms of equipment. The first of these is the new three-stage heated front seats. Its buttons are located on the console, and not on the chairs themselves. The front seats of the Xray Cross are also equipped with a different frame with embossed lateral support bolsters and a soft backrest, which increases the comfort of rear passengers. Riders in the second row should also experience another innovation - a more vertical position of the backrests, which makes it possible to move the seat cushions back and thereby free up an additional 25 mm of legroom.

And finally, we come to the main innovation, which is the driving mode selector, which controls the stabilization system and traction control. There are five algorithms for the operation of on-board electronics. In normal mode, all systems are turned on; in sports mode, the accelerator pedal becomes more sensitive and it becomes possible to move away with slipping; in “winter” mode, wheel slip is allowed to increase braking efficiency; settings for sandy surfaces further weaken the control of the electronic systems. The last, fifth position, ESC Off, completely disables stabilization, but when a speed reaches 54 km/h it automatically turns on.

Technical characteristics of Lada XRAY Cross in comparison with Renault Duster
The closest competitor to the XRAY Cross is, of course, Renault Duster. Actually, it was planned to make a more accessible and in some ways superior analogue.
As a result, a 1.8 liter (122 hp) engine was chosen in combination with a 5MT gearbox and front-wheel drive.
It should be noted that the mechanics here are French: the engine works properly and without interference, much better than that of the “younger brother” Xray, which does not have “Cross”.
For comparison:
Renault Duster is produced with 1.6 and 2 liter engines, while front-wheel drive 4x2 comes only with 1.6 liter and 5MT.
But in all-wheel drive versions, the Duster is equipped with a 6MT gearbox on both engine options, and it is also possible to purchase an automatic transmission and even a 1.5-liter diesel engine.
The platform based on B0 is the same as in Nissan and Renault models, while the new crossover uses a powerful subframe and an upgraded suspension, which gives the car increased cross-country ability, stability and controllability.
This is also facilitated by R17 wheels, versus R16 on the French crossover.
A significant advantage is the rear disc brakes, which certainly adds greater safety and maneuverability to the domestic crossover.
Reviews from the owners of this car indicate that the Cross's handling and cross-country ability are indeed at a fairly high level.
The electric power steering works quite well, and handling is quite good. And the Luxe package even has a heated steering wheel.
Among the shortcomings - reviews of X-Ray Cross indicate insufficient noise insulation at speeds of 120-140 km/h and above. But if you follow the speed limit according to the traffic rules, everything is within normal limits.
Design
The more stylish and sporty appearance of the X Ray clearly outperforms the rustic Duster.
The dimensions of the Lada crossover are more compact than those of its French competitor:

- antenna height – 1645 mm.
While the Duster:
- length – 4315 mm,
- width across mirrors – 2000 mm (1822 mm),
- height along the rails – 1695 mm.
On the one hand, a more compact car benefits in urban conditions and adds maneuverability. Still, this is not a jeep, but a crossover. On the other hand, some drivers, especially men, prefer larger dimensions of the car to give, as it seems to them, more solidity. But this is not an acquired taste: for some it may be a plus, for others it may be a minus.
Their fuel consumption is approximately the same.
Good to know: What should always be in your car?
Well, one of the main advantages of the Lada XRAY Cross is the increased ground clearance of 215 mm. The Duster in a similar front-wheel drive version has 205 mm, and in all-wheel drive it has 210 mm.
Why not all-wheel drive?
Probably, as the first domestic full-fledged crossover, AVTOVAZ engineers decided to produce a worthy analogue of the simplest version of the Duster, which they completely succeeded in doing. Let's hope this is just the beginning, and all-wheel drive variants will follow in the near future.
In this regard, we consider it incorrect to compare the X-Ray Cross with the all-wheel drive Renault Duster. Those who do this forget about the cost of a 4x4 drive - and even in the simplest versions it ranges from 1 million - 1.3 million rubles to 2.5-3.5 million rubles in more expensive brands.
Whatever one may say, despite domestic production and assembly, all components are produced using European technologies and in partnership with global brands Renault-Nissan. Therefore, the cost of a car is measured pegged to the dollar and euro - these are the realities of today.
We think that if all-wheel drive for the Lada XRAY Cross is ever implemented, then at the current dollar exchange rate, in 2018-2019, the price will be about 1-1.1 million rubles, no less.
Judge for yourself, the Kia Sportage jeep, once so popular in Russia, is now approaching the 1.6-2 million ruble mark. Not to mention that fuel costs in this case increase significantly.
Do you really need all-wheel drive?
In addition, it is no secret that today even most jeeps with 4x4 all-wheel drive see off-road conditions only from the “height” of more or less good asphalt or, at least, a primer. Of course, unless you are a participant in car rallies or off-road racing.
In some cases, especially in winter and in conditions of poor quality road surfaces, all-wheel drive can indeed be indispensable or at least very useful.
Stabilization system LADA Ride Select
For such cases, Cross provides a special solution - an electronic stabilization system and adjustment of chassis operation algorithms - LADA Ride Select.
The program works in several modes, improving cross-country ability in selected road conditions:
- Snow/mud – increases braking efficiency due to more slip of the front wheels,
- Sand,
- Sport – disables other modes,
- ESC on – the main road one, allows you to level out the movement during skids by regulating the speed of each wheel and gives the car stability on steep slopes and difficult areas.
You can also disable the electronic stabilization system by selecting ESC off, however, at speeds only up to 54 km/h, then it is automatically turned on for safety reasons.
According to reviews from X-Ray Cross owners, the most optimal, however, is the normal road mode ESC on. Although, perhaps, not everyone knows how to properly use such electronics.
True, installation of such a system is possible in a configuration no lower than Comfort - and this starts from 810 thousand rubles.

Interior
Inside, the Cross has become as much as 2.5 cm more spacious for rear seat passengers. The interior itself remains the same as in the previous model, but the ergonomics of the space have become more comfortable.
The rear seat has also been moved down by 4 cm, which adds height to the space.
The seats now have lateral support, which makes the seating of both the driver and passengers more comfortable, especially when traveling long distances.
A large container under the passenger seat in a more expensive configuration adds comfort, plus there are convenient additional compartments: a large glove compartment, a place for a phone, etc.
The steering wheel is adjustable for height and reach.
The downside is that there is no steering column joystick for switching tracks when listening to music.
Also, according to reviews from owners and test drive participants, there are some shortcomings in the interior of the cabin, although they are not critical, they can cause minor inconveniences: for example, the buttons for turning on heated seats or the locks for fastening seat belts are not located in the most convenient way.
The trunk, although it does not have a large volume in its standard form (310-360 liters according to various measurements), can be significantly increased by folding the seats, both front and rear - up to 1500 liters.
This creates a flat area - the engineers have done a good job of improving the internal space.
Technical characteristics of Lada X-ray Cross 2018-2019
The new Lada cross-hatchback will be equipped with a 1.8-liter engine with an output of 122 hp. and 170 Nm. It will be accompanied by a 5-speed manual transmission or a robotic gearbox. The car is deprived of all-wheel drive, and as compensation it relies on the driving mode switch already presented above.
There are some improvements in the chassis design of the new product that technically bring the X-ray Cross closer to Vesta. Thus, the front suspension of the “off-road” hatchback has acquired L-shaped arms, which should help improve handling. Another innovation is rear disc brakes, which are rare for cars on the B0 platform. The changes also affected the steering, which received an electric one instead of an electro-hydraulic one.
Equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, the Xray Cross accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 10.6 seconds (manual) or 12.6 seconds (robot). Top speed is limited to 180 and 176 km/h respectively. When equipped, the weight of the Cross version of the X-ray reaches 1300 kg.
