What are the conditions of the Trade-in program for LADA cars in 2022?

In Russia, domestic Lada cars remain one of the most popular. For car enthusiasts, they are attractive due to their low prices. Specialists are constantly working on new models, improving design and technical characteristics. Lada cars are becoming more and more reliable and competitive. Under the trade-in program, Lada can be purchased quickly and on favorable terms.

Trade-in programs in 2022 in Russia

Selling your own vehicle (vehicle) yourself requires some preparation - a car and the necessary documents. Then you need to communicate with potential buyers who responded to the ad. Therefore, it is not surprising that a car owner is wondering how to sell his old car faster and without unnecessary hassle. If at the same time he is going to buy a new car, then one of the suitable options would be the Trade-in scheme.

The principle of the program is that the owner of a used vehicle takes it to a car dealership, and in return receives a new car, paying the difference in price.

The dealer sets the amount of the surcharge based on the results of the used car evaluation. This procedure is carried out in a service center operating at the salon. In this case, the appearance of the machine is also taken into account, and not just the technical condition of its components.

In 2022, the state program for this vehicle sales system continues to operate. In addition, most automakers already have their own offers for customers.

How to determine the degree of catalyst wear on Grant

Unfortunately, there are no signs to indicate that the catalyst is worn out. The car owner only finds out that it is out of order when it is time to replace the part. This process occurs gradually, and the final result will be clear immediately. Nevertheless, there are indirect signs that may indicate an imminent failure of the converter in Grant.

Main symptoms:

  • Check Engine error on the second oxygen sensor;
  • loss of power;
  • increase in fuel consumption.

An error in the second lambda may indicate not only a malfunction of the catalyst, but also a breakdown of the sensor itself, so you can trust these readings only after a more thorough diagnosis. The same applies to other problems that may appear along with the error.

It's another matter when the catalyst completely fails. It may melt or crumble. In both cases, this problem will manifest itself as a ringing sound in the exhaust system, which will change as the engine speeds up or when hitting obstacles.

Conditions of the Trade-in program from AvtoVAZ

Let us note that the automaker makes trade-in discounts at its own expense, without using funds from the Federal budget. Therefore, the AvtoVAZ Trade-in program does not provide for the acceptance of illiquid “rarities” under its terms. Salons will not deal with cars whose sales period may be very long. We will discuss this in more detail below, but now we note that the same reaction from the car dealer should be expected if there are problems with the documents of the vehicles being handed over. Moreover, the conditions for Trade-in “AvtoVAZ” for LADA cars, from the point of view of the correctness of the papers, are even stricter than the requirements for the presentation or technical condition of the car.

Vehicle requirements

It is important to take into account that not all vehicles can be transferred to the dealership via Trade-in. The vehicle to be returned must have:

  • service life up to 10 years;
  • attractive presentation;
  • good technical condition.

An important factor is market conditions. The salon will only accept a marketable car – the make and model of which is in demand among the population.

Required documents

To become a participant in the Trade-in program, a car dealer must submit the following documents:

  • car owner's passport;
  • PTS. He must confirm the fact that the car has been owned for at least six months;
  • certificate of registration (CTC);
  • a copy of the PTS of a used car, which reflects the fact of transfer of ownership to the buyer;
  • a document issued by the traffic police regarding the registration of a used car - for example, a vehicle registration card.

The owner's representative can return the car to the dealership. Then you will definitely need a power of attorney to carry out this procedure. The dealer provides the client with a DCP (purchase and sale agreement), as well as an acceptance certificate for the car.

Which VAZ models take part in the Trade-in program

The following LADA car models can be purchased under the Trade-in scheme in 2022:

  • Granta – sedan, liftback, Sport versions;
  • Vesta – sedan, Cross, SW, Sport versions;
  • XRAY – crossover;
  • Largus – station wagon, Cross, van;
  • Lada 4x4.

At the same time, dealers often hold promotions. So, if you decide to exchange the above-mentioned VAZ models via Trade-in, try to find up-to-date information about participation in the program.

How much can you get for your car?

To find out how much you can get for your car, you should find out what criteria the car dealer uses when evaluating it.

First of all, the age of the car is taken into account.

In the first year of operation, 20% of the original cost of the car is lost. Then - 10% each subsequent year. Thus, having bought, for example, a LADA Granta sedan for 378.8 thousand rubles in 2022, expect that in 2021 you will earn more than 320 thousand rubles for this car via Trade-in, even if the car is in perfect condition, not worth it.

Car dealership employees are dissatisfied with dents and scratches on the body. Even with such a minor defect, the price is reduced by several thousand rubles. In addition, car service workers operating at the salon practice using a thickness gauge. Using this tool, they evaluate the thickness of paint in suspicious areas. Therefore, hiding defects with painting work will not help increase the price.

Many car dealers do not require payment for the assessment of LADA transferred via Trade-in. You can use this to find the most profitable car dealership in terms of cooperation under this program.

Trade-in discounts at AvtoVAZ showrooms

The list of models that are eligible for AvtoVAZ Trade-in discounts is quite wide. This demonstrates the loyalty of the financial policy of the domestic automaker to the potential consumer of its products. In addition to the fact that when purchasing a new vehicle, the cost of the vehicle being returned is taken into account, prices for VAZ have become even more attractive. Information on this issue is presented in the following table:

Service life of the catalytic converter on Lada Granta

The service life of this part depends on many factors. But the main ones are:

  • fuel;
  • engine condition;
  • silicone sealants.

Low-quality gasoline can “kill” the catalyst quite quickly. After all, it will burn out not in the cylinders, but directly inside the honeycomb of the neutralizer, thus its wear will accelerate.

Frequent refueling with such fuel can reduce the service life of this part to 30-60 thousand kilometers.

Another factor is the engine oil and the condition of the engine. The higher the mileage, the higher the likelihood of loss of lubricant in the cylinders. Oil particles that come out through the exhaust clog the catalyst, as they are difficult to burn.

It would not be amiss to talk about the use of sealants in engine repair. Silicone-based sealants enter the combustion chamber and from there into the catalyst. Silicone can quickly damage this part.

On average, a catalytic converter can travel about 100 thousand kilometers.

This means that it is designed to last for the entire service life of the vehicle. However, good fuel and compliance with all operating recommendations can keep the catalyst alive for 150 thousand kilometers.

In what order is exchange carried out via Trade-in?

As already noted, the transferred vehicle must meet certain requirements. You can find them on the website of the selected car dealership. If everything is in order, we go to the salon, having previously prepared a package of documents. Their list is standard, but depending on how Trade-in for a LADA car works at a particular car dealer, sometimes additional paperwork may be required. Therefore, this point should be clarified by phone.

Upon arrival at the dealership, the car is inspected by service staff. As a result, the car enthusiast will find out how much his car is valued at. If the amount is satisfactory, documents are drawn up at the final stage. This is what the car dealer does.

Is it worth jamming the USR on Grant?

The USR is an exhaust gas recirculation system. It is also used in Lada Granta engines. The system allows you to perform several tasks at once:

  1. Reduces harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
  2. Ensures stable engine operation in different modes.
  3. Helps enrich or lean the mixture under different operating conditions, when appropriate, for example, in the mountains where the air is rich in oxygen.

It is worth considering that EGR does not work at idle and when the antifreeze temperature is below 50 degrees.

When the catalyst is removed, the mixture will become richer, but the system will not know about it, so the EGR will take all unburned fuel residues and direct this “garbage” into the intake manifold, and from there into the engine cylinders.

To protect the engine from the unwanted consequences of pollution, the system must be turned off.

Car showrooms are official dealers of AvtoVAZ, working under the Trade-in program

Obviously, the first step to a successful vehicle purchase is choosing the right car dealer.

You should only contact an official representative of the brand.

A certified company is responsible to the car manufacturer for the quality of services provided and helps the client find a way out in case of unforeseen situations related to the purchase of a car.

But a citizen who wants to buy a VAZ via Trade-in at a car dealership may have a question about how to distinguish an official dealer from a “gray” one. Everything is very simple here. On the website of the Togliatti automaker there is a special tab - “Dealers”. The organizations represented there can be trusted. Despite the privileged status of the official representative of the AvtoVAZ brand, there are quite a lot of such enterprises in Russia.

In the Northern capital, the Trade-in program at Piter-Lada is very popular. This car dealer accepts trade-ins for any brand of used car. That is, if you want to purchase an AvtoVAZ model, you don’t have to provide a vehicle from a domestic manufacturer; you can also buy a foreign car. But in any case, a used car must meet certain requirements. Moreover, if, as a result of the car assessment, it turns out that the client is not satisfied with the established price and he refuses to carry out the transaction, he will not have to bear the cost of diagnostics, since this procedure is free in the center.

You can buy a LADA car via Trade-in in Moscow in the following showrooms:

  • "AutoHermes Dmitrovskoye Shosse";
  • "Yakhroma-Lada";
  • "Techinkom-Strogino";
  • "AutoHermes Volgogradsky Prospekt" and others.

Removing or replacing the catalyst on Grant

Unlike foreign cars, the Lada Granta has a simple and inexpensive catalyst in its design. Its price is no more than 12 thousand rubles. Therefore, changing it is not so expensive. There are two types of catalysts for Grants.

Catalyst article table:

Viewvendor code
Old style21116120300800
New sample211161203008

The parts have only external differences and are interchangeable. The only thing that really makes a big difference is the prices. The new catalyst is almost 2 times more expensive than the old one.

There is another reason for removing the converter - improving the dynamic characteristics of the engine. In this case, the catalyst is considered as an obstacle to the normal release of exhaust gases. Removing it will help the engine spend less energy “pushing” exhaust gases, and, therefore, increase its efficiency and power.

Removing the old catalyst

Before this procedure, it is strongly recommended to treat the collector nuts with WD-40 the day before disassembly. This will make them easier to unscrew and will help maintain the threads on the studs, nuts and bolts.

For this procedure you will need an inspection pit or a lift. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Disconnect the manifold flange from the exhaust pipe.
  2. Remove the intake manifold. It is more convenient to remove it together with the throttle valve module.
  3. Unscrew the two bolts securing the catalytic converter to the cylinder block.
  4. Remove the heat shield of the inner CV joint.
  5. Unscrew the nuts securing the catalytic converter to the cylinder head, slide it back and pull it out of the engine compartment.

You can safely throw away the old metal gasket, since in the future it can burn out and form gaps through which exhaust gases can leak out.

The catalyst itself is removed in two ways:

  1. They saw the can, open it, remove the contents and weld everything back.
  2. The old can is completely cut off and a new flame arrester is welded to the same dimensions.

If we are talking about replacing the catalyst, then it is easier and more profitable to install a new catalytic converter on the car.

Installation of a new catalytic converter

There is nothing difficult in installing this part. To do this, just follow a few steps:

  1. Place the manifold with the catalyst on the studs and tighten the nuts.
  2. Tighten the bolts securing the part to the cylinder block.
  3. Tighten the nuts.
  4. Tighten the fastening to the BC.
  5. Connect the exhaust pipe flange to the catalytic collector.
  6. Reassemble everything else in reverse disassembly sequence.

Attention! When assembling, it is necessary to use only new gaskets and sealants, since these are one-time installation parts.

When installing a flame arrester, some craftsmen use a slightly different principle - they leave the exhaust collector as is, gutting its contents, and weld the flame arrester in any part of the exhaust, having the opportunity to make it longer.

It is also possible to install it instead of a standard “can”, but then it will lose its effectiveness. A flame arrester with article number CDB PLIN 129 is well suited for these purposes.
