New Lada Vesta Sport 2022 – charged up to 145 horsepower

The domestic automobile plant VAZ presented a stylish new product – the Lada Vesta Sport model of the 2018-2019 model year. The official premiere of the car has not yet taken place, but the manufacturing company decided to provide some information about it.

The sedan is ready to show off its bright appearance and rich equipment for its category. It should be noted that this version of the car is production and absolutely identical to its conceptual model - the creators did not “spoil” the appearance of the new product.

Design of the sports version of Lada Vesta Sport

The appearance of the Lada Vesta Sport, although it clearly shows the image of an ordinary Vesta, still demonstrates the elegant design work that made it possible to greatly transform the appearance of the sedan. The front part of the domestic sports car, unlike the regular version, received a new front bumper with an improved position of the air intakes and chrome-plated X-shaped brackets. Also closer to the bottom of the bumper there is a red line, indicating the “Sport” modification. With a new “face” the sedan looks much brighter and more interesting.

The rear of the new car also acquired a new bumper, which not only became more massive, but also had a stylish diffuser that gives the car more individuality. A pair of exhaust pipes, shaped like trapezoids truncated on the inner sides, are located on the sides of the bumper, but with a slight offset to the center. Stylish air vents give the sedan a sporty rear end, while a raised spoiler makes the rear look larger without being flattened like a conventional car.

From the side, Lada Vesta Sport shows an X-shaped pattern of body strokes, each half of which is located above the wheel arches with an offset to the center. The bottom of the side doors is decorated with a horizontal red line, which turns into the inscription “Sport” towards the end of the rear doors. The model also received rims measuring 17 and 18 inches with a non-trivial design pattern.

The roof of the car turned out to be smooth - with strong angles of inclination of the front and rear glass pillars, and on its rear part there is a “shark fin” antenna. In general, the appearance of the new product creates the image of a fast and bright city car. This is especially noticeable when looking at the Lada Vesta Sport from the side.

Salon

The manufacturer, trying to create a budget new Lada Granta 2018, designed the interior as follows:

1. The center console is equipped with air ducts and a standard mechanism unit.
2. The expensive version of Grant in a new body from AvtoVAZ is equipped with a touch screen.
3. The trim is made of inexpensive plastic, so squeaks may appear during the operation of the car.
4. Basic information is displayed on a display located in the central part of the cabin.
5. The climate system operates, adjusted by special regulators.
6. Armchairs with textile trim.
7. There are places for glasses in the first row near the driver's seat.
8. The instrument panel has a dial speedometer, a tachometer, and a small on-board computer. On it you can see the readings of some instruments.

The interior is decorated with different materials: fabric, metal, leather and plastic. The interior of the Lada has become quite spacious. A large passenger can sit comfortably on the car seat. Three people can fit in the back row, and the person sitting in the middle will have the opportunity to comfortably position their legs.

The interior of the cabin is designed in such a way that passengers and the driver do not feel discomfort while sitting on the seats. The manufacturer specifically made the seats not too soft so that a person could keep his back straight while the car was moving.

Unfortunately, the creators have decided not to introduce us to the interior of the sports model yet, leaving all the most interesting things for the premiere. It is assumed that the equipment and finishing materials used in the cabin will please its owners. And according to its status, this car should a priori be equipped “excellently”. But for now we can only guess, so it would be more appropriate to return to this issue after the official presentation of the Lada Vesta Sport and the disclosure of full information about the sedan.

According to its performance, the body of the new Vesta Sport received the following overall dimensions:

• length: 4421 mm;
• width: 1775 mm;
• height: 1480 mm;
• wheelbase: 2634 mm;
• ground clearance: 160 mm.

In the matter of lighting the Lada Vesta Sport trim levels, we can put a dash through, because this model itself is actually a kit (simply separate) of the standard Lada Vesta.

However, it is not known how the sedan will deal with the availability and wealth of option packages - whether the new product will be supplied unchanged, or whether it can be personalized to a certain extent through options. The variability in wheel diameter indicates the second option. But for sure we will know about this only after the official premiere.

Interior

No official pictures of the car’s interior were presented, but now we can talk about the good equipment of the sports version.

Apparently, already in the basic equipment you will see the following functions:

• ABS, TCS, ESC systems and many others;
• 4 airbags:

• Multifunctional steering wheel;
• Multimedia system with 7-inch screen;
• Cruise control:
• Rear parking sensors:
• Rear View Camera;
• Heated first and second rows of seats:

• The chairs are upholstered in a combination of faux leather and fabric.

Technical characteristics of Lada Vesta Sport

The developers placed the main emphasis on the appearance and technical characteristics of the Lada Vesta Sport. And if we have already looked at the design of the car, then it’s worth getting to know its contents better. Let's start with the power unit, which is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with a capacity of 145 horsepower. The engine torque at peak is 188 Nm. According to unconfirmed reports, the sports modification will be equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. Thanks to the combination of the engine and improved transmission, the Lada Vesta Sport promises to accelerate to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds. At the same time, the car’s speed ceiling almost rests on two hundred – 198 km/h.

In addition to the engine compartment, the developers also worked on other elements of the sedan’s sporty configuration, improving the car’s suspension and braking system. The suspension received new shock absorbers and spring blocks, and the front brake discs were increased in size. The engineer also paid attention to the intricacies of the engine design (by the way, it was “overclocked” from the standard version, increasing power by 23 horsepower) - now it can boast of increased pressure in the fuel line and changes in the camshaft profile.

On the eve of the official premiere at MIAS 2022, a new VAZ product for the 2018-2019 model year, the “charged” Lada Vesta Sport sedan, was declassified. The review includes technical characteristics, equipment, price and photos of the 2018-2019 four-door Lada Vesta Sport with a powerful 145-horsepower engine, lowered suspension, more tenacious brakes and a lot of additional aerodynamic elements decorating the body. According to preliminary information, the price of a charged Lada Vesta Sport sedan will be approximately 1 million rubles.

I would immediately like to note that the production version of the Lada Vesta Sport looks like an exact copy of the Lada Vesta Sport Concept prototype shown at the Moscow Motor Show in August 2016. And we honestly want to admit that Vesta Sport looks great. At the same time, in the image of a charged sedan, of course, the familiar body of the regular Lada Vesta is visible. But there are also plenty of differences.

Unlike the ordinary budget sedan Lada Vesta, the sports version of Lada Vesta Sport has acquired a lot of original parts: • firstly, there is a new front bumper with a modified configuration of air intakes and X-shaped inserts; • secondly, there is a new, powerful and stylish rear bumper with a diffuser, pseudo-air ducts, a fog lamp and a pair of trapezoidal exhaust pipes; • thirdly, the body sills acquired linings, and the trunk lid received a spoiler (these parts were created taking into account maximum optimization of aerodynamics);

• fourthly, for the sports sedan, 17 and 18 inch alloy wheels with a chic pattern design are offered, complemented by Continental ContiSportContact 5 tires, respectively, in sizes 205/50 R17 and 205/45 R18; • fifthly, the front wheel arches are widened to accommodate large wheels; • sixthly, the front wheel track is widened by 35 mm, and the rear wheel track by 15 mm compared to the standard sedan; • sixthly, the ground clearance is reduced by 16 mm and is 162 mm for the “charged” sedan.

And these are just the details that you can see with your own eyes. We will talk about design nuances and differences in the technical characteristics section.

The external overall dimensions of the 2018-2019 Lada Vesta Sport body are 4420 mm long, 1774 mm wide, 1481 mm high, with a 2635 mm wheelbase and 162 mm ground clearance. The front wheel track is 1545 mm, the rear wheel track is 1525 mm. The curb weight of the Lada Vesta Sport body is 1211 kg, which is 19 kg less than that of the regular Lada Vesta sedan with the initial 1.6-liter engine. By the way, the front axle of the car accounts for 61.5% of the total weight, and the rear axle for 38.5%.

We do not yet have photographs of the interior of the Lada Vesta Sport sedan, but we can assume that the “charged” version of the Lada Vesta will be richly packaged by default. So you can safely count on ABS and EBD, BAS and ESC, TCS and HSA systems, daytime running lights and foglights, front and side airbags in the first row, on-board computer, multifunction steering wheel, multimedia complex with a 7-inch TouchScreen screen (FM/ AM, USB, SD card, AUX, Bluetooth, Hands free, 6 speakers), cruise control with speed limit, climate control, rain and light sensors, rear parking sensors and rear view camera, heated front and rear seats, LED -interior lighting, combined seat trim (eco leather and Alcantara).

Technical characteristics of Lada Vesta Sport 2018-2019. The most interesting thing about the “charged” Lada Vesta Sport sedan is its technical content. Under the hood of the new AvtoVAZ product is a VAZ-21179 four-cylinder petrol engine. The power of the 1.8-liter engine is 145 hp and the maximum torque is 187 Nm. According to preliminary information, the engine works in a company with a 5-speed manual transmission (Renault JR5). The tandem of the engine and gearbox provides the sporty Vesta with acceleration dynamics from 0 to 100 mph in 9.6 seconds, and a top speed of almost 200 mph (198 mph to be precise).

A powerful motor is only half the battle. Engineers and technicians from the Russian manufacturer have significantly improved the suspension and brakes of the sports version of the Lada Vesta sedan. Original front struts and rear shock absorbers are installed, the suspension has received different settings with smaller strokes, rear disc brakes are used (the front brakes have larger discs and pads, as well as more powerful calipers and pistons) and a modernized exhaust system, reinforced wheel drives. In addition to all of the above, the VAZ-21179 engine, boosted to 145 horsepower from the standard 122 horses, acquired an original calibration of valve timing adjustment and camshafts with a modified profile, and higher pressure in the fuel line.

Prices and configurations. AvtoVAZ management informed the press service that sales of the Lada Vesta Sport will start on January 31, 2022. The car is currently offered only in the maximum “Luxe” version. The price tag has also been rewritten, so now the price of the car is from 1,009,900 rubles instead of the previously announced cost of 950,000 rubles.

The price of a “charged” sedan includes a multifunction steering wheel, cruise control, climate control, an audio system, rain and light sensors, heated front seats, as well as a Multimedia package consisting of a multimedia system, a rear view camera, a navigator and a heated windshield. The price of Lada Vesta Sport 2019 with this set of options is from 1,045,900 rubles.
