Where there is more space: comparison of “Grants” and “Prioras” in size
Both cars fit into the classic B-class format with a length of just over four meters. In this sense, “Priora” seems to be more advantageous - there are as many as 4.3 m from nose to tail, while “Granta” is 4.2 with a tail. But, as often happens, it is not the sheer size that is important, but the ability to use it.

And the Granta developers did a better job with this task: the seating position in both rows is not striking, but better than the “Prior” one. The knees, of course, rest against the back, and the top of the head rests against the ceiling, but the Priora is ruined by the frankly low seating position on the rear sofa, for example, because of which the legs, which have nowhere to put anyway, also have to be bent.
The Priora engineers did not squeeze anything out of the size in terms of the trunk: the sedan has a modest 430 liters even by B-class standards, while the plump rear of the Granta holds 520 liters.
For station wagons, the situation is slightly different: 444 liters for the Priora VS 360 liters for the Granta. But sitting in the Priora “car” does not become more spacious, so in this respect the “Grant” is better than the “Priora”.

Which is better in terms of equipment - Priora or Granta?
In this case, everything greatly depends on the years of manufacture. The early “Priora” is essentially a deep restyling of the “tens”, that is, the copies of 2007-2012 production from their ancestor have not gone anywhere at all.
Granta, in turn, was conceived as a “torn-off” version of the LADA Kalina - an ultra-low-cost version with even cheaper plastic and equipment. Therefore, the “Grants” of the initial years (2011-2015) are the bottom of the bottom, which reeks of poverty and worthlessness.
Then something interesting happened. Around 2014, Priora received a large package of updates, including security systems (ABS / ESP), a more or less passable media system and other options. At the same time, Granta had already acquired a Jatco automatic transmission and continued to improve.
And somewhere in parallel with the release of the new line (Vesta / Xray), Granta received a lot of things from her older brothers. There's also a decent on-board computer, and power accessories - even cruise control!
At that stage, they caught up with Priora in terms of options. And then Priora left the market, and Granta and Kalina again became one. No more low-cost and simplified versions; after the 2018 restyling, we were faced with virtually a new “state employee” with familiar outlines.

The question is highly debatable and very much for everyone. Simply because talking about the driving characteristics of such “state employees” is a bit of a stretch. Both cars are made to be easy to drive.

If you rewind a little to the times when both Grant and Priora were young, the difference between them was significant. Priora is a little more driver-like, if that word is applicable here. And the Granta, due to its good energy-intensive suspension, is better suited for driving on dirt roads. But driving it is not so fun, only if in the rather rare Sport version.
By the way, about rare versions. Priora was produced in relatively small quantities in the coupe version (also known as a three-door hatchback). It drives a little better than the sedan of the same name, because technically it is almost no different. If it had a lower curb weight or a shorter wheelbase, perhaps the handling character would have changed. But here both the sedan base and the mass. Therefore, if you take it, then only for aesthetic reasons.
Granta was at one time produced in a sports version, and now it really differs from the “regular” one. The Granta Sport was fine-tuned by its subsidiary, and the athletes there know a lot about tuning a car. It sounds different and turns better. True, it doesn’t go much faster – the power has increased to 120 horsepower, the nature of the engine’s response has changed, but fundamentally it doesn’t go any faster.
Nevertheless, it deserves attention - not so bland on the go, a little more playful and lively in everyday life.
